  1. I agree totally. Geddy Lee's singing is incredible, too.
  2. (This is an old post but I feel I have to comment.) This is definitely one of my favorites from the album. The music is awesome and so are the lyrics. Is there any other song out there that starts with the earth's pre-life Primordial Soup and goes through 1-1/2 billion years of evolution?
  3. Some of you will recall that it was produced by the same guy who produced several Fixx albums (Rupert Hine).
  4. I assume you know that for what became the "Natural Science" (1980 release), Peart originally planned on writing one more fantasy song about Sir Gawain & The Green Knight (in which case you might have rated albums from 1981 as superior) https://ultimateclas...nt-waves-album/ https://www.reddit.c...gawain_and_the/ (originally intended lyrics)
  5. I recall a friend's that with the weird guitar effects the Snowdog sounded more like a pig.
  6. Roughly 1994-2004. I got a copy of Vapor Trails and never really listened to it. Snakes & Arrows piqued my interest again.
  7. When different people (from different cultural backgrounds, ages, socioeconomic groups) all interpret the same thing in the same way, it's called "mass entertainment." When different people all interpret the same in different ways, it's called "art."
  8. 5000+ shows and a musician's lifestyle didn't help, either. (The Who's Roger Daltrey said that he was allergic to pot smoke. I suspect Geddy never made a similar claim)
  9. I think the lyrics are great. When the song was first released an informed source (another teenager) told me the song was about the Moral Majority. Let's not forget that it's part 3 of the Fear Trilogy, an examination of different aspects of fear. (Until Freeze was released on VT. Then I guess it became part 3 of the Fear Tetralogy.)
  10. I get it. Most of you despise it, but I'm just curious why. My opinion of the song has changed over time. I found the song lackluster when it came out. Years after that, Rush performed it in concert as part of a medley. Seeing it live with different colored lights flooding the stage coordinated to the lyrics (primarily red, of course) was really cool. Years after that I paid attention to the lyrics and that took it to another level of appreciation.
  11. How dare you! That's one of the best from Power Windows. Very overshadowed song I agree 100%.
