  2. And it is not very practical to have a turntable and amp in the car!! Ha ha Sez who? http://static.messynessychic.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/chryslerphono.jpg That is about the coolest thing I have ever seen!! ha ha, But how did they stop the mechanism bouncing around when the car when over bumps???!!!! I am going to Google to see if I can get one of these Nice one dude :D :D :D :D
  3. Sounds like a very simple problem Zumbi. I did electronics at college and would never profess to be an "expert" The secret with any electronic problem is to try to find the source. Obviously there is nothing wrong with your CD player or amplifier because they work together, and there is no way it can be a stylus problem. What I think in my humble opinion is that it is a problem with one of your stereo outputs from your T/T or one of the leads you may be using. Try swapping over the leads from the TT to the amp and if the sound comes out of the other speaker then it is just a dodgy cable. If the sound still comes out of the same side then it is a bad connection from the output side of your T/T, but still easily fixed, it wont be expensive, might even just be able to fix it by opening the system and using some Iso propyl alcohol or other appropriate cleaning fluid. Don't worry, from what I have told you then it is an easy fix. With older HI-Fi the conections get a bit dry and dusty all the time. Hope this helps dude Stevie ;) ;) ;)
  4. What pissed me off today was that I parked in parent and child space as I had my 4 year old neice in the back. This idiot came up to me and started to swear and threaten me saying "You asshole you think you can park anywhere you like!!" I made my case and said the car park was empty and he could get a space closer to the door. He said no "I want this one!" I was upset that Jessica had to hear this so I moved, He went in to the space and his kid was about 7 or 8 without a child seat!! To make things worse there were two elderly woman watching and after I pulled out I said "Can you believe the threatening abuse he gave me?" I was just flabbergasted by the reply, one of them said "You should not be in that space as your child is not a toddler. "I hate the f***ing system just as much as you Briggs, but until I find something better I have just got to live with it. Pretty soon you are going to start executing people for Jaywalking!!!" - Lt Harry Callahan It was all about my car, if I had been driving a little hatchback then nothing would have been said. Steve
  5. Why? Please tell me? :eyeroll: I don't care if he wants to drink, not play the drums, or whatever, but I do care that he has such disdain for people in general and fans specifically. The very people that allowed him to pursue his livelihood and make a lot of money doing it, are the ones he seems to talk the worst about. He doesn't strike me as someone who has disdain for people in general. From my admittedly limited perspective, he seems to really enjoy the company of people that he is close to..and he's uncomfortable around strangers... That doesn't strike me as disdain for people in general at all. I really don't think anyone has the right to judge Neil unless they have actually met him :finbar: :finbar: Generally I would agree with you but he puts so much of himself out into the world with his books, blog and lyrics that it's not surprising that people would form an opinion about him. The books in particular come across to some as being very self centered and derogatory towards people that he considers to be "fans". (And some social groups) Agreed 100%. We all form opinions about people we haven't met all the time and it's a ridiculous assertion to make. If we searched the forum we would find comments bashing the kardashians, Kanye, and many other celebrities. None of which we know personally. The Neil defenders do this because they can't balance the music and lyrics they love so much with some of the things he says or does that's a lot less attractive. That's life and that's being a human. None are perfect. Hello Ancient Thanks for your input. Look I know that it was a very stupid and ignorant comment I made to Johnny and I regret very much. You guys can consider me a racist if you wish but it was just a silly stupid comment borne out of feeling a bit defensive and certainly not meant to be racist I have tried to apologise to JB but that is all I can do. Thanks and take care Steve
  6. It seems most of the really great artists don't have the best people skills. They are usually introverts and have spent most of their life in a dark basement practicing their instrument. Really great observation and very true. I will say that I've often wondered how a guy like Ted nugent was ever able to sit still long enough to learn how to play guitar so I guess there is the occasional exception. Hello Ancient, hope you are well Best Regards Steve
  7. yes...good film... I just love the narrative and why I think Clint has much more acting talent than the bunch of other tough guys. A remote little town lets the evil gang horsewhip the sherriff to death and Clint rides in and gradually exposes corruption, incest, and nasty things. We are never told but we all know that Clint is the ghost of the murdered sheriff come back to wreak his terrible revenge. In the end he paints the town red and calls it "Hell" Such a great macabre story. That is why Clint is such a great and talented actor
  8. Did you know that an average frog can jump 4 metres? That is equivalent to a human jumping 100 yards
  9. What is FERGS dude?? http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/OldRUSHfan/Animals/Frog%201.jpeg http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/OldRUSHfan/Banana%20World/bananadanceOrig-1.gif I like frogs, they are lovely creatures
  10. Have you seen "High Plains Drifter" ORF? I am sorry, of course you have I think it is one of Clint's best piece of work :finbar: :finbar:
  11. That is why maybe I love films like Butch Cassidy and Sundance It would have been so cool to live like that, apart from all of those bullets at the end from the Mexicans! ha ha
  12. Nonsense, Steve! History is fascinating! http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/OldRUSHfan/Banana%20World/Rasta%20banana%202.gif Thanks Grumpy, I just love learning about history, it is a wonderful thing to discover where we came from
  13. Clint found that he had more in common with the kind Hmong people that moved in next door than he had with his own family God I love that film dude
  14. Well you probably know this already but the Native Americans built Manhattan because they had no fear of heights
  15. Sorry Goose not trying to be "Mr History"
  16. It reached a peak when "Final Countdown" replaced "Living on a Prayer" at number 1 in the UK singles charts. Now don't get me wrong, they were both brilliant tracks but the teenybopper magazine ran a piece called "Who is better? Jon Bon Jovi or Joey Tempest" They were not talking about vocals or delivery it was "Hair, Sex appeal, Clothes etc" But that Europe track had a FANTASTIC guitar solo
  17. Personally I blame David Lee Roth for the whole genre. If he had known what a monster he would create in the late 70's then........... Nah he would have done just the same thing. Hair metal did have some good stuff at times but when you start talking about bands like Poison... Just truly awful and crap of the highest order Motley Crue at least did some good tunes and Tommy is a good drummer
  18. I know this sounds very silly and immature but I am sorry to see Honest Man go At least when he was here then I was not the biggest asshole on the forum!!!!! ha ha Did TonyR leave the forum??? Don't know, Tony R is a difficult guy to get on with but perhaps we can bring him round by just showing some LOVE  Ha ha The hell with that, I would like to boot him in the arse!!!! Well I am in enough trouble as it is so I will just say I understand what you are saying
  19. And it is not very practical to have a turntable and amp in the car!! Ha ha
  20. Sounds like you have a brilliant rig there dude!  That Yamaha DSP was brilliant and sought after, it has such a clean and natural sound. And Sony are regarded as the best CD/DVD players Yeah, I got a really nice sound. Its perfect to be honest. The only thing that I feel I want to change is my cartridge on the turntable, but do not really afford that right now. I got everything from my dad, except for the turntable, when I moved to my own place. He had got upgrades, but he kept these for me. He used to work in a hifi store in the 80s, so he got a lot of good deals! The turntable, I bought from a guy on the street a bit more then 2 years ago. And it still works great! I will change the cartridge as soon as I afford it tho! The Stylus is the most import bit of the whole setup, it is the connection between the vinyl and the rest of the system. Put it this way, you can have the best amplifier and turntable and speakers in the world but if the cartridge is crap then the sound will be poor as well. Go for an elliptical stylus, they are more expensive but gives much better quality and tracking than the standard round ones XXXX KR's dude
  21. I find the convoluted logic of cockney slang completely fascinating. It originated from bad lads in the East end of London in the 19th Century. They would talk about their latest blag or robbery. But in those days the cops and robbers would drink in the same bar. Police at one end and the villians at the other, There was definitely a bit a mutual respect because a lot of the police came from family that had a crook amongst them. The rhyming slang was invented so that the law could not eavesdrop on them Steve

  23. I just wish to say this please About 20 years ago I had a friend who worked in a Hi Fi shop and he was a real enthusiast. He had a system which sounded amazing. It was just 2 speakers by an English bespoke company called Ruark. He had an amplifier and a turntable that cost £2000 (for the turntable!) The arm was £400 in itself and the turntable had a granite base The amplifier only had one knob on it - volume. It was £3000 I asked Chris "Where is your EQ" He told me that the amplifier was so perfect that it did not need any EQ. The EQ in his words is only an instrument to mask the failings of a sub standard amp To this day I have never heard a system that comes close to that sound
  24. Top loading was a much better system mechanically it gave the tape a much more precise loading in the machine. But "front loading" took over to cater for the aesthetics of peoples TV rack system
