  1. "Sweet Lorraine let the party carry on." :D
  2. What took so long? I have no idea. I'm not the only one voting on here you know. ;)

Physical Graffiti - Led Zeppelin (New_World_Man) The first Led Zeppelin album I heard and it is still possibly my favorite. It's a very eclectic album with a lot of different sounds on it from blues rock to folky stuff to experimental/prog sounding stuff to hard and heavy rock. You name it. One of the best double albums ever. A must have for any rock fan.
  4. No. You are supposed to remember or post a bunch of stuff I have never heard of like everyone else. That's why its so easy for me to know mine haven't been posted yet... ;) Well, that's kind of what I have been doing but I don't think only a few people should get to post the obvious or most well known albums. Ofcourse I know there's several I'll post that hardly anyone will think to post. ;)
  5. Yeah, Narps, a lot of the fans of the seventies progressive bands like Yes, Genesis, ELP etc were apparently spoiled by the high standards set and anything poppy was considered blasphemous. I would say most(at least 75 percent)of Asia's fans were fans who got into them in the eighties and started their serious musical journey(no pun intended) in the eighties(like me). That being said, those fans who aren't prog snobs(I'm not because I like a lot of other kinds of music)who like aor stuff like Journey, Foreigner, Styx etc should have no problem with Asia.
  6. One of the albums I have in my queue might have already been posted. Is there a way I can see the whole list without going back through the whole thread? Maybe someone has easy access to it and can send it to me in a pm.
  7. UK were a great band. I even saw them live once. They only had a couple of proper studio albums though. That reminds me, there's no Asia on the list. :P
  8. Yeah, I agree. I try to recommend them to fans of mid seventies Genesis in particular. More people would like them although of course they are very well known in prog circles. Dust and Dreams is one of my favorites also and imo one of their best.
  9. I should have known better than to post a Rush album on here especially that one. However, I have many tricks up my sleeve and still several albums in my queue lined up.

Rid of Me - PJ Harvey (ReRushed) 263 .Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin (condemned2bfree) 264. These Days- Bon Jovi (Segue Myles) 265. So - Peter Gabriel (Pip65) 266.Mirage - Camel (New_World_Man) A great symphonic prog album. Some of these songs are among Camel's most hard hitting and really jam! The 14 minute epic "lady fantasy" is kind of like a poor man's "starship trooper"(at least that's how I often think of it). The whole album just rocks and really seems to showcase Andy Latimer's great guitar playing. I don't think the band have ever quite rocked this hard again although there are many moments of pure symphonic beauty as well. A masterpiece of prog.

Signals - Rush (New_World_Man) I guess it's kind of fitting that I get to pick this one. I'm pretty sure it hasn't made the list yet but if I'm mistaken please let me know or don't include it in future lists. Anyway, this was the first Rush album I owned or heard(on cassette) so it is special to me. This is one of their most(if not the most)futuristic and scientific sounding albums they have done. The lyrics seem to be a cross section of science and social science and the synthesizers just drive that home. A very synth heavy album(some saying Alex was left behind but I don't quite agree). "Subdivisions" is one of my favorite songs but the whole album is solid and is fun to listen to from beginning to end. It's maybe not as heavy sounding as the albums before it (instead it has a more futuristic and synth rock sound)but I think it works and the band were still at the top of their game while starting to try different sounds and textures.
  12. Thank you. I said twice I was going to work on it then your list showed up after I had spent five minutes cleaning it up so I appreciate you letting me keep my version(which is probably the same thing as yours). Anyway, the important thing is we are back to normal now(if that's possible). :)
  13. Ok, guys you did not see that. I jumped the gun a bit but deleted my entry since it's not my turn yet. Please don't steal my pick!!!! :D

  15. I knew this would happen and yet didn't do anything about it. Folks, a lot of albums have been skipped over! I'll see if I can fix it.
  16. The two best in my opinion, at least off the top of my head are "Sister Christian" by Night Ranger and Journey's "don't stop believing." I think Journey might even have invented the power ballad(not sure).
  17. Yeah, I meant they have that classic sound. Cool. Just out of curiosity which albums have you heard(or do you own)by them?
  18. Nothing lined up. I was going to possibly see the band Riverside but for some reason decided against it(I have seen them before anyway). So right now I have no immediate plans to see any shows. Kansas and Steve Hackett are coming up soon near me but I've seen both before and just don't really have the extra dough. Also, the Anderson Ponty band but for some reason that doesn't excite me too much.
  19. Many people on here have tastes very similar to mine and others are mentioning stuff I maybe wouldn't consider but I'm very proud of this list nonetheless. I think everyone is picking a lot of top notch stuff(myself included).
  20. I like PT a lot but my personal opinion is their later albums are maybe a tad over rated especially in comparison to their earlier ones before they became really well known. I like deadwing ok but the few right before it are some of my all time favorite albums.

Another Green World - Brian Eno (ReRushed) 252. Arrival- ABBA (Segue Myles) 253. Demons and Wizards - Uriah Heep (New_World_Man) Uriah Heep were in many ways similar to the other "heavy" bands of the time. Your first clue this album is maybe a bit different is the Roger Dean album cover with a wizard on the cover. The music as you might imagine is wild, weird and mystical with a guitar and organ sound not too far away from Deep Purple. However, the Heep were their own band and only they could have come up with something like this. A truly magical album.
