Sometime during the 3rd quarter of the SuperBowl. I don't look like my team was getting pummeled.

Super Bowl always feels weird to me out here since kick off is 8:30am Monday due to time zone differences. It's also somewhat amusing to hear some J-commentary and get the bar crowd's reactions...most don't seem to care either way, they just like exciting plays. Good!
I didn't know you were Super Bowl fan. Quite funny picture.
You look good. :)
Hey JB, since the super bowl is Monday morning over there, how many people take off from work or school to see the game? Or is it more in the background? That bar looks fairly crowded for a Monday at 8.30am!

Certainly, Lifeson was influenced by The Edge.
In those days, Lee used to often cite Simple Minds as one of the bands he really dug.
I think I just puked in my mouth a little bit.

Both are great tunes, but when I go to the Dr and they take blood, they always ask me why there's an r and a u and s and h in my blood

A field goal away from icing it.Biggest choke job in Super Bowl history. Grats, falcons.
And all they had to do is run the ball twice and win the game.
Somehow this lack of basic common sense by the Falcons makes Brady a better QB in stupid peoples' eyes.
It's one thing to be given opportunities by stupid people, and another to be able to capitalize on them over and over again.
I hate the pats as much as anyone, but they got the short end of the stick on their two SB losses. Incredible 4th qtr plays that beat them, as well as epic mistakes that they rarely make at the end of games. Could you imagine Bradycheck winning seven?

I have just recently memorized them. It was my second biggest lyrical memorization accomplishment (first being "We Didn't Start The Fire" by Billy Joel.)
I've mentioned several times on TRF that YBYL reminds me of that Joel song...which I also dislike.
Funny, but YBYL always reminded me of the below classic, which relevantly rawks
That's great! It starts with an earthquake,
Birds and snakes, an aeroplane.
Lenny Bruce is not afraid.
Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn.
World serves its own needs, dummy, serve your own needs.
Feed it off an aux speak, grunt, no strength.
The ladder starts to clatter with fear fight, down, height.
Wire in a fire, representing seven games
In a government for hire and a combat site.
Left of west and coming in a hurry
With the furies breathing down your neck
Team by team reporters baffled, trumped, tethered, cropped.
Look at that low playing! Fine, then.
Uh oh, overflow, population, common group
But it'll do. Save yourself, serve yourself.
World serves its own needs, listen to your heart bleed,
Dummy, with the rapture and the rev-'rent and the right, right.
You vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, bright light
Feeling pretty psyched.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine.
Six o'clock - TV hour.
Don't get caught in foreign towers.
Slash and burn, return.
Listen to yourself churn.
Locking in uniforming, book burning, bloodletting.
Every motive escalate, automotive incinerate.
Light a candle, light a motive.
Step down, step down.
Watch your heel crush, crushed.
Uh oh, this means no fear, cavalier.
Renegade steer clear!
A tournament, a tournament,
A tournament of lies.
Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives
And I decline.
It's the end of the world as we know it
It's the end of the world as we know it (I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine (It's time I had some time alone)
I feel fine
It's the end of the world as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine (It's time I had some time alone)
Funny thing is, I have memorized those lyrics.
I have a buddy that sings along when it's on the radio. I just stare in amazement when he does that. Like a cat watching a bird.

Been listening to In Absentia and Deadwing a lot lately. Not sure what took me so long to get into this incredible musician and "band."
And why the heck is Fear Of A Blank Planet not on Amazon Music for purchase ?
Massive h/t to polarize, not and onion for talking up PT endlessly back in their TOST days. Thanks - you!
One of my favorites!
Thanks!
I should have been more specific. The spoiled instant gratification version of me was looking for just the MP3 download version. I see on the link you provided, the cd version includes an MP3 (according to the "fine print.")
Edit...come to think of it, my phone app does not include the cd option, so I should have checked on the iPad. Silly me!

BIG PF fan but was never a fan of this album. Maybe it was a DSOTM hangover ? Thank God for Animals.
Animals, indeed.
The usually overlooked coming of age genius of Roger Waters.

Wish you were here (song) is a brilliant, but fairly simplistic (for the Floyd ) overplayed radio song. I actually consider skipping when listening to the album. I've heard it waaaay too much.
The first part of Shine On, that extended instrumental, is a ground breaking, historic moment in prog history. seminal music right there. The attention to detail is astounding, considering the year of release and what other prog recordings sounded like at that moment. Machine on side one is just a silly bonus.
Side one by a progressive mile. Well, not really. Side two is great also ;)

I've wondered about a great many things in my life, but I've never once wondered if any of you folks memorized those particular lyrics.
You can't be a TrueRushFan™ if you don't have them memorized.
No no no. You can't be a TrueRushFan™ unless you've wondered if other TRFers have memorized them.
No no no. You can't be a TrueRushFan™ until you can admit they had some shitty songs albums.
fixed
Pardon me, but Neil Ellwood Peart does not perform on any shitty albums.

And by Rush they mean Ged & Al.
I am waiting for the TRF retirement police to come along to point out that Rush will not be attending. That the name Rush should only be used when Ged, Al and Neil are present!
I remember reading recently that Rick Wakeman won't be attending. Shame really.
All minds can be changed :) ...
Update 4th January regarding RRHOF:
“I am very pleased to announce that as the Hall of Fame have now agreed to present Chris Squire’s wife with a posthumous award acknowledging his massive contribution to YES, I have agreed to attend the Induction ceremony in New York to both stand proudly with my fellow band mates Jon and Trevor and also to watch Chris’s wife Scottie collect this well deserved award on his behalf. I also hope that this move to acknowledge members of bands who sadly did not live to receive their own honour, means they can get them posthumously in the future”.
That's great news- both things- that Chris Squires' wife will receive the award and that Rick Wakeman will be there on stage with Yes. :)
Interesting that Wakeman is not referring to his "fellow band mates" as Yes, he is speaking of ARW.

Please forgive me if this has been mentioned elsewhere but I didn't see it anywhere. This was announced a few days ago. It's cool for fans of both bands I suppose. Too bad it will only be aired on HBO. Hopefully it will show up on youtube at some point.
VERY cool. I missed this story. Thanks for posting.

...if you think about it, the name Rash makes sense. Of course it's an easy exchange of the "U' in Rush for an "A" making Rash. So there's that poignant reference to the old band. Rash would also show their sense of humor. Of course, now that I've written this suggestion, Alex and Geddy would never name a new band Rash due to the fact that some dork on a forum somewhere had already suggested it.
Ya done f***ed up bro.
Now to your final point. Hell to the yeah I'd go see this Rash as you describe it and I don't go to concerts much these days. I'll sign your damn petition, where's the link???
If you go I'll find out what section you are in and toss cookies all show ;)
Since its been two years since their ground shaking last tour of this magnitude announcement, and since, almost no movement towards a post Neil or post R40 project, seems this could be it for them. Or if there's anything else, it will be in a very small quantity.
I've always wanted LEEFSON to be their project name. It has enough of a tribute to Rush to it, and that name stands on its own. Besides, Rash makes me itchy.

It's a frame of reference type of question. Isn't it common to get asked this by friends, distant family, co-workers, etc. I'd only ask if I were interested in what Neil's day to day boring retired life is like.

Of course the 1970s.
This era they rocked hard, they studied their instruments and dedicated themselves to be the best guitarist, bassist and drummer on the planet on a 24/7 basis. Wrote music to the outer reaches of what existed at that point in time. Strived to extend what was acceptable to record and release as a rock band.
No other era can they make these claims. And of course since Permanent Waves was written, recorded and produced in the 70s...
