    Nice short doc on Brightline.

Generally thought of as a new private business funded rail, but in actuality, made possible by govt spending.  Don't tell Mr Rogers.

My review of a recent Tool concert is, meh. Fully half of the 12 songs played were from their latest record and they seem to plod along with not much energy, and I really like Tool. The light show was fabulous so there's that.

I have seen tool multiple times on the fear inoculum tour and it is unlike any other rock band I have ever seen. Imagine a 55yo+ band where over half the set is new material, and The Crowd Goes Wild every new song. For the seven times I've seen fear inoculum, reminds me of my roll the bones tour experience , but that was only five shows because of course back then bands had to move on to the next album.

Interesting how we could have such different takes on tool. Their new album is phenomenal, on their fan message boards it's very common for fans to rate fear inoculum as their best album. To me when they play a new song the sound quality, the depth of the song from soft to incredibly complex rhythms but still extremely forceful for the fans to overwhelmingly appreciate, is unlike what any other band brings to the table regarding new material. It is unlike what any other band currently brings to the live arena.

It is like what rush was in the 70s except after rush released 2112, farewell to kings, hemispheres, permanent waves, rushed decided to go into a more contemporary format. Tool i's like rush but they kept going with the Hard Rock Progressive genre for their entire career.

And Danny is the one drummer who can bring it close to how the professor did

I'm not familiar with Jimmy Page or anyone else "playing" a guitar with a bow and had no idea what type of guitar he played. Not that big of a Led Zeppelin fan which is probably heresy in the rock fan area (Rush's "Heresy" is a better song than most Led Zep songs, imo).

A view like this is probably represented to Rush fans under the average age of a typical Rush fan.

But those of us fans since the 70s, which could be you I don't know, understand the impact Zeppelin had on Rush,  especially Alex.

But I do appreciate your bravado posting this here. BTW the hint was the bow, the bow is legendary

Excuse my complete ignorance but what does this even mean?

No ignorance at all, I was a bit overwhelmed ,

Tool played two from an album they rarely go to live, Undertow, including Flood for the first time in 12 years.

(After the drum solo cc trip, Justin was messing around with his bass i erroneously believed, what he was really doing was opening flood)

Since this is the United States, depending on the quality of your health insurance, this story could be either heartwarming, or a complete and total nightmare

A comment so good it deserves an unmisleading  Mr Rogers reply

Worth every minute driving to Ottawa to see their last NHL arena show. Spoiled getting to see them in clubs all these years

He interrupted the 3 hour premiere of Battlestar Galactica around 10:30 on a Sunday school-night. I had to beg my mother to stay up, f**k that guy.

I get it. Kinda like when Newt interrupted Sunday afternoon NFL to impeach some horny dude.

Which makes more sense? Sitting in a drive-thru to get your food or going inside and getting it faster but having to actually get your lazy ass out of your vehicle?

Not that I use a drive-thru, the only fast food I regularly frequent is my belovedly conservative owned Chick-fil-A, I use their app and they kindly bring the food to my table.

Which is much needed because I would otherwise use a drive-through elsewhere considering the bad knee and the bad back. Let's go medicine!

I forgot that you made a comment in my direction. Sorry, things are properly bad right now, and I'm not thinking straight.

Hey, I hope you're doing alright. I got some health issues staring at me, especially the knee. It ain't fun.

60%+ of the time, Mith earns the hate. There are situations where he doesn't and gets dog-piled on that I sympathize with, though.

If you're going to be a lefty on SOCN, you will be held to a higher standard of conduct than others and treated like a second-class forum citizen. If you can accept that, and accept some old shits being hateful, you can still have a good time inside.

I tried again, and its weird.

standard of conduct ? IDK, it seems like an alternate reality minefield. My version of reality is supported by sworn testimony under oath by people who have the same ideological beliefs as they do. Sworn testimony by people who were employed by the man many of them are loyal to.

Their reality is supported by the likes of tucker, who despite making billions for his employer, was summarily fired because what routinely came out of his mouth was not the truth. The media that they follow have tons of folks just like Tucker,  it's what they believe but it's not supported by arbitrary evidence. Or evidence obtained under oath.

Right on. I’ve got a 19-20 year old HVAC system. I intend on replacing it with a heat pump once it dies.

Exact same here, but it's central air and oil heat. When the AC goes, its going to be replaced with a split unit/heat pump. Still not sure I trust that heat will work in sub zero temps.

One need not be "TRFer of the century" to positively contribute and interact in SOCN. Being at least somewhat open-minded and somewhat thick-skinned and having some ideas of your own is all you need. BP's been in there for only a week and he's doing just fine.

Definitely the thick skin part, plus BP seems to be a strong commenter and good at keeping it somewhat light. Plus there are some solid right leaning views there which helps.

As far as true lefties? Poor Mith a few weeks back getting surrounded by the sinner v. sin argument? Rough.
