Yes, exactly! And memories of J Geils Band "River Blindness" ending midway through the instrumental section because the tape ran out and I guess I didn't have enough room on the other side for the whole song and then the rest. Good times, lol.

What is with everyone offering cassettes now, along with vinyl and CD? Did I wake up in 1985?
But seriously, if they start putting a tape player back in cars, then I am all in.

this is true.

Phil out of the Masters. Now, I realize he's made this bed and has to lie in it, but at the same time, it's not like he's the only PGA player who has stepped outside the lines, so to speak. (*DJ cough cough) and others who have done things (*cough cough Tiger DUI painkillers) But I guess since this was a direct attack at the PGA, it's different. No idea whose idea this was, his or theirs, or who, exactly. But it's all a shame.

I mean, you all KNOW how much I love Fish....but Styx has been my band since 1980 (before Rush, they were a short time later)...so it had to be Styx.

You guys.

It`s a tough crowd that can`t enjoy some of the early Marillion. The exact same tough crowd that boo`d them when they opened for Rush, I guess. If you don`t like the music, just sit back with a different CD and enjoy the sumptuous sleeve art by Mark Wilkinson.
Not everyone's cup of tea but in 1983, prog was a dirty word in the music industry (particularly the UK music press).I love both bands but both are very different musically.
Based on the Fish-era output, I voted Marillion. (BTW the new Marillion album is very good indeed!!)
I've never liked Marillion, they just never appealed to me. I do like some of the artwork though from the FISH era. :joker: <<< Jester's Tears
Then along came Marillion who stuck two fingers up to all those tossers in mags like NME and pretty much invented neo-prog. It was glorious!
His work is amazing.

I listened to some yesterday on my walk. Definitely lighter and more melodic than previous stuff. I like it!

And, which Marillion? Though I did vote Styx, of course.

Saw Styx at the Beacon on Wednesday night, they FINALLY did the full Mission album that had been post-poned twice since March 2020.
Their beloved (21 years of service) drum tech Paulie died from pneumonia caused by Covid on Wednesday morning. We all saw the news as we were all headed to the show. I had met him a few years back at Westbury. Super nice guy, but then again, all the crew is really nice and very down to Earth.
They put on a great show as always, but having seen them so many times and mostly always quite close up, the grief was evident. Given the circumstances though, they still managed to rise above and there were many great moments, as there always are with them. The did the full Mission album, one of my favorites, and even though they hadn't played it from start to end in over 2 years, it was as good as the first two times I saw it back in 2019. Todd was a beast during Red Storm as always.
JY has started wearing a hat and it suits him, lol. Will Evankovich adds SO much energy and enthusiasm to the band, his interactions with them all are so much fun.
Chuckie was there, unfortunately looking older and more frail, but I guess that's not a surprise, he's not been in good health for years.
All things considered, it was fantastic, I love this album and this band and wish I could see it again, but don't know that they'll perform it again. They also did a few from Crash of the Crown and some other regular old stand-bys (Renegade, Paradise, Roboto) in the second half.
I was lucky enough to be elbows on the stage in front of Tommy. Always a treat!

Oh, wow, well it's not a shock, but so sad. Lovely words from you. RiP Lorraine. I hope it was peaceful.

Back to Earl....Rod in Tronno, still in touch with him?
He's fine. Spoke with him yesterday. Living it up on holiday!
you mean Earl, yes?
-
I've started listening today, definitely lighter than previous works, but I like what I've heard so far.
-
Lol, me too.
Well, they are acting like it will, but who knows!

So I say this, not to complain but just purely informational. I'm still having trouble on Chrome navigating between pages and also logging out, that's when I get the 404

So is anyone on trf actually GOING to this??

sweet potato tortilla chips and hummus
whatever happened to Trout guy, he was always having coffee and fruit!
-
Friend trying to sell two tickets for TONIGHT in Red Bank...anyone?
-
Actually take it back again. I just tried navigating around the site and ran into the same issue. Not a 404 just spinning and spinning. I also notice it takes at least a minute to logout and off and I have to try it a few times
-
I was getting 404s. Eventually it opened on Edge. But on Chrome, it spins from the search engine. Oh, but when I put the actual address in the search bar, then it comes up right away. Hm. OK then I guess it's ok?
-
I'm still having issues even getting the site to load at all on Chrome and Edge both.

The Mission was such a surprise!
it really was. I mean, I wasn't surprised that they put out such a great album, but it wasn't anything what I was expecting. I saw it twice on Long Island in 2019 and CAN NOT WAIT to see it one last time next week. Honestly one of the best shows I've ever been to and I've been pretty fortunate to have seen some great concerts to date.
But they haven't performed the whole thing in over 2 years, so it will be interesting to see what, if anything, has changed. Apparently they did a few songs the past few shows they've put on, as practice I guess.
now I just need to sell this danged ticket, lol.
