  1. I tend to avoid concerts or large crowds these days, so probably a no for me. I say that as I'm just getting over the latest flavor of covid.

Aside from that, there would obviously be outlets to catch the show or the eventual DVD.

I think they ended it just right and I don't have much curiosity of what they would sound like at 70+. With each passing year, they would add to the possibility of 'losing it' due to age. I don't need to see that. There's a number of competent tribute bands if someone really wants to hear live Rush.

  2. The crux of the problem is that the ncaa didn't make it a 8 team playoff from the very beginning. therrrre's your problem.

instead of winning 2 games, the winner has to win 3....oh the horror of an additional game!

oh wait...maybe in that extra game their top 2 QBs will get hurt and then it's back to a 5 person circus committee.

  3. For myself, I'm perfectly fine with them not re-forming some version of Rush and touring. That said, I'm sure the momentum is building for that. If they did, here' s how they should approach it.

    1. Name the band something innocuous like the Lifeson Lee Project. It removes the Rush label and give them more flexibility.

    2. Given the rebrand of #1, play songs from their solo material or new material that they develop. The shows could still have 70% Rush material.

    3. Get a keyboard player and/or singer. Geddy can still probably sing a few songs that his voice can handle, but I'm guessing it's shot at this point. I would think Geddy would like just concentrating on bass at this point.

    4. Any number of great drummers that could fill in. But try to steer away from drum heavy material like La Villa to avoid the Neil comparisons.

    5. Avoid the Vegas residency sell out.

7 years since touring can make a huge difference for older guys. If they aren't up to it, then let it go and don't do it.

  4. oh the fsu pity party starting by the mainstream media. does anyone give them a chance with a 3rd string QB? that's why they aren't in.

ncaa screws things up like they only could. should have been a 8 team playoff from day one. 12 teams is too much. ncaa basketball tourney has too many and needs one less game.

iowa is an example of what happens when you don't have your top QB. fat backup QB and offense was hideous. and yet they were still ranked 16 pre-championship.

  5. ahhhh backups. dealt with them in many forms over a 38 year IT career that I retired from last year. At first I a skeptical of cloud backup, but now I'm a convert. Too many years of carrying briefcases with backup tapes home every night to keep offsite. Doing backups at work to tape was just too slow and costly and we converted to Veeam shortly before I left. Can't beat em so join em.

I just signed up with idrive for my personal laptop. while I haven't needed to restore any files, so far it seems to be backing up just fine. And it's cheap...like $3 a year, or more depending on your volume. A novel thought might be to sign up with 2 cloud services for redundancy. Or go with a cloud backup service and a NAS device,  which is a box of drives on your home network for about $400-500. Since you've had issues with one service, I'd recommend a redundant backup service or device to give you piece of mind.

    Dear Disgruntled,

You thought that was bad, wait until you see the mauling we give the Pack on Thanksgiving.

Gonna make Nero proud of us!

    Sincerely,

    the Detroit Lions Footbal Club

Oh come on now the refs TRIED to help the Packers out. Oh you need a couple extra seconds for the end of the 3rd quarter? Sure no problem. Phantom holding call? Here ya go.

I'd wager that after the Bills-Bengals issues last year, the NFL is less likely to cancel regular season games under the "the show must go on and everybody is getting the best possible care" logic.

Cancelling a pre-season game, though, is good optics.

4th quarter on top of it...that game was practically over. 95% of the guys playing at that point will be cut next week.

  8. woowoo it's draft day! better known as mel kiper hyperventilation day. glad to see hundreds of mock drafts get shot in the ass. never so much effort for so little accuracy. well maybe not as bad as weather forecasting.

first time in years there's some encouraging results from the lions. good free agent acquisitions, holmes looks like he's got the midas touch for drafting. I say that with caution is there's always a knucklehead decision that's waiting to happen for the lions. just make smart picks for solid players. nothing too creative for your own good. and no first round qb picks...you got a reliable qb with goff and all of the qbs have major questions. anderson, witherspoon, carter in that preference order for #6.

This Packer fan will be most grateful to the team that takes him!

If Mccarthy wasn't the coach, trading Rodgers to the Cowboys for Prescott, straight up, would be something Jerry would fall in love with. The bloated salarys sort of match up. The would make it much more convenient to direct hatred to a single source team in Dallas.

Seeing that there's a much more limited market for Rodgers. I think the Jets are ok with taking a flyer on Carr for a couple of years. I don't see where any playoff worthy team will take the risk on the aging egomaniac.
