  1. I would agree about none. I can't think of a single band that is touring today that I would have to see. I would still like to see Kansas (even though they're doing the casino thing and that seems wrong to me) but it wouldn't be mandatory.

My wife and I actually saw Kansas at the local casino last year. Very good show...although rather short...maybe an hour and 20 minutes. From the looks of the elderly crowd, they probably cut the show short because most people were up past their bedtimes.

  2. Is Losing It finally appropriate to play on tour? Any chance they'll play this Signals song?

Please realize that this song could be closer to art imitating life since it's about artists losing their skills due to time. For that simple reason alone, I think they would avoid playing this song like the plague.

In addition, they have many better alternatives for mellower ballad-y songs.

  3. Decided not to go. My buddy called me up this morning and asked if I wanted to go to the Toronto show in June. I made a quick decision and said "pass." I'm trying to be more responsible with money, and I've also rationalized the decision by saying I've seen them before and there's bound to be a million youtube posts and probably a DVD. But . . . :( I'll probably regret it.

    Virtual hugs welcome.

    Or . . . slaps, I guess.

Years ago, Stevie Ray Vaughn played our county fair. I had a easy opportunity to go, but I thought it was more bother than it was worth...loud obnoxious people, terrible sound, etc. etc. 3 days later his helicopter crashed and he died. I regretted not going to that concert ever since. Live no regrets.

  4. I totally get how Neil is since I think I'm very similar...introverted, uncomfortable accepting compliments, not comfortable in large groups of people. I can just imagine how hard it is to trust a complete stranger coming up and acting like you're his best friend or wanting to 'worship' you...very embarassing and difficult to trust people at first.

Not to get into amatuer psychology here, but knowing how he grew up could have something to do with this. He was not the popular sports kid and kind of an outcast. Then he developed his drumming talent and all of a sudden people wanted to know him. It probably leads to the question of 'why do you want to be my friend now, when you had nothing to do with me before I showed my drumming talent?'

He's a smart guy so at times he can probably overanalyze people and their intentions. At the end of the day, I admire the hell out of his work, but I have no desire to worship or try to show that I'm his long lost friend.

  5. they'll never cut it from the set list. That being said, I wouldn't mind if Alex reworked the solo. I heard a live bootleg of TS before they recorded MP and his solo was ripping...more like freewill. The solo is almost too easy...Alex sometimes goofs around during TS so much that he screws up the solo.

But changing solos may be too much to ask at this point.

  6. I like it, don't love it, but enjoy it live.

I wouldn't mind it being skipped, but for all those new fans - they have to play it for them. Plus, like the idiot Bears fan said, they love playing it

This f***ing Packers fan probably would rather hear Tai Shan.

    .........and?!?

    You ninny!

Also known as Cutler versus Rodgers. :D

  7. There could still be new material, whether it's before or after this tour. The issue with new material, i.e. 'album' is that it is NOT a money maker for them at this point. Neil was quoted that, back in the 'old days', they made their money on album sales and broke even on touring. That has flipped with the changes in the industry. If they do some new material, I would guess 2-4 songs, perhaps an EP. But another Clockwork Angels album? Ehhhh, I think not.

That being said, they have enough older material, including deep cuts never played live, that can be dusted off and played live. So in a sense, it would be 'new' to a live setting.

  8. I have really mixed feelings on Guitar Center. On the negative, I think they did a 'Walmart' to the local music shops and just blew away alot of small guys with excess and cheap prices. They did things way too 'corporate'. Corporate and rock should never mix. On the positive, they did have more selection (in general) and pretty good prices. But I do miss the good old days of the small local shop, which are a dying breed.

At the end of the day, if they chose the model of anything and everything for cheap prices, well sorry, you're in Amazon's wheelhouse my friend.

  9. So we were up in the mountains of NC skiing over the winter break and as usual on a rainy day i decided to look up any local music shops to check them out. Found a place called Appalachian Music in Boone near the ski area and decided to go check them out.

I'm a Martin player so I was really surprised to see some great guitars at great prices, like really good prices. I've been pining over (and saving for) a GPCPA4 with a shaded top and they didnt have one but he offered to order one for me and have it shipped. He offered me a killer deal neither I (nor even my wife) could refuse. The guy's been in business a long time, serves the diverse and thriving local music scene and college and he was rated very well by newspapers etc.

Well, you see where this is going. He received the guitar from Martin on the 23rd of Jan and shipped it back out to me the next day. But then it disappeared. Gone! Poof!

Tracking shows it left the sorting facility in NC last Wednesday, the day he dropped it off, and it hasn't been seen or heard from since.

In all honesty he's been very on top of it and helpful, and yes, he purchased insurance for it but i just know someone snatched this thing from the mail room and its in someone's living room. It's gonna take weeks before anything gets settled from it.

Question is: Do i order a new one from him? Just get my money back? what would you do?

How ironic. I just bought one just like this on Craigslist last week for $500.

    :P

Sorry, just yanking your chain. Sorry for your luck...any way to pick up the next one without shipping it?

  10. I think I read an interview once when they were listening to one of their songs in the studio control room (pretty sure it was rivendell) and fell asleep. Yeah that's me.

Here is Geddy's interview that confirms my statement.

  11. When the Olympics were in Canada a few years ago, there were strong rumors that Rush was going to play the Opening or Closing ceremony. I have a feeling that once they got the news that they were not going to be 'live' (other than vocals perhaps) that became the end of that idea.

So sorry I'm not playing along with the fantasy idea of Rush playing the Superbowl. Won't happen. Never, Ever.

  12. I'm the numerical equivelent of pi...3.14159...yadda, yadda, yadda. But then again, I've been know to be an irrational number.

    But seriously folks...

Got all the albums, go to every concert I can (lately), merch emmm no I'm too old for rock n roll tshirts. I buy every original album but I don't fall for the box set money grab. One of my top favorite bands but it don't drool over any of them.
