  1. I appear to be the only vote for Roll the Boner so far.

I'm amazed at the lack of venom for skeletal rapping.

    Come on folks, GET BUSY!

I like the rap. I think it one of the bands more refreshing light songs, like the underrated I Think I'm Going Bald. Not everything has to be so serious...

Exactly. Nor erudite. I love the title track.

You Bet Your Life is an embarrassment, though.

Like Arsenio Hall, the GET BUSY song just didn't age well at all. It's truely a WTF moment for the majority of Rush fans.

  2. I like The Big Wheel, a fine song.

I do, too! Among the upper echelon on this album, in my opinion.

Gonna say that this song is a real guilty pleasure of mine...I love it.

I agree that you should feel guilty.

  3. I guess I've never viewed any of the guys in a higher light than what they obviously do and are. I like their music, skill, Neil's lyrics (for the most part), his writings (for the most part)...but I never tried to empathize with them as though I'm an equal. I'm slightly curious about their life away from Rush, but I could never fully identify with their life, so I don't try.

Everyone has the right to their own conclusions. Mine is that it must be extremely difficult to separate the 'famous' person from the 'regular' person for someone of Neil's stature. Fame probably really screws with your head at times. People hinging on your every word, deed and mistake. I can make comments about fat hillibillies and trailer trash, but I don't have to worry about thousands of people reading into my every word. I'm sure all the guys, as nice as they appear on the surface, have been dicks at one time or another.

At the end of the day, they're my favorite Rock band and I highly admire their skill and career. My money buys their albums, merch and concerts but no guarantee of any personal connection.

  4. I must say, I'm really surprised at the negative vibe of these polls. The forum certainly has passive aggressive tendancies. You want front row seats but also want to throw tomatoes at them when they play certain songs.
  5. The only 2 I didn't click were Show Don't Tell and The Pass. I actually like The Pass and Show Don't Tell is tolerable...barely.

The production is soooo dry and antiseptic. Presto and Vapor Trails have the worst production of any Rush album IMO.

  6. This is NOT an endorsement of Stubhub, but I'm just passing on the latest ticket info in my area since others are sharing info on their area.

Chicago, which I've been tracking for a while, is down to about 1100 tickets from $120 or so. Prices have been gradually coming down from what I've seen. I've been tracking for friends that might go with me.

For comparison, Detroit (Auburn Hills) has 2100 tickets from $73. That's ALOT of tickets available at this point and $75 or so which is somewhat reasonable IMO.

I've already purchased my Chicago tickets. But since, I'm halfway between Chicago and Detroit, I would have bought Detroit if I was to do this again. Oh well.

Based on the numbers so far, I think Chicago will be close to a sellout because it's one of top 5 tour cities. But I think Detroit will have lots of tickets available even up to the day of the show.

Hey if you aren't into Rush as much or don't have the funds to go, that's up to you. But making excuses for not going or being cranky because 'it's not like the good old days' is a sign of getting old and skeptical. You're close to yelling at kids to get off your lawn.

  7. Mystic Rythym video...Al and Ged with big glowing balls.

    WTF...gotta be the worst.

I know right! I don't get the big deal with glowing balls.

Mine do it all the time.

I tried not to laugh, but that was very funny.

This is why I need to lighten up more around here.

I must say, I love these threads! Finally, real discussion again!

When things get too intense around here, I'll just post 'big glowing balls'.

They stare at them and wonder "why'd we have to get so close to that nuclear plant?"

  9. A question for long time guitarists here - did your fingers lose nimbleness as you got older? What I'm asking is - can you move them as fast as you used to?

I've played for...decades, let's just put it that way.

You loose some dexterity, but since your hearing starts to suck you think you sound better.

Come on, does anything move as fast as it used to when you get older?
