like what? he insulted geddy so i threw it back

    dont insult geddy.

To be exact, you threw it back at his mother. When you get out of middle school, maybe you'll see the difference.

Meanwhile...head on down to the Sense O'Clock News. They'll love you!

    did i ask you?

we didn't ask for your opinions but we got them. TRF is a two way street.

  5. ...are you ok with that?

Credit for this thread goes to 2112FirstStreet whose idea it was. :)

    Why thank you my dear.

Yes I'm ok with it being the last tour. Physically they are getting to the point where they won't be able to put on a full 3 hour show. And I would hate to have them follow other geezer acts like the Kidney Stones where they milk every last buck. As awesome and enjoyable their career has been, I think they're pretty much over it and want to indulge their other endeavors while they still have quality time.

Quite frankly, they should have quit with CA. I don't know how this one will go. It doesn't sound promising, but we will see.

I would never begin a thread that was someone else's idea and take the credit for it myself. :)

I'm sure this tour will be fine. Their schedule is not gruelling and they're doing material they could play in their sleep.

  6. But I wonder if they really know that on that level? It's one thing for them to think a whole bunch of fans like their music, but it's another thing to know how deeply some have been affected by their music and what it has meant to them.

If I was a famous musician, and someone told me that, that would mean more to me than anything else. But, that's me. Maybe platinum and gold records mean more to them. I don't know.

It's great that their music would affect someone so deeply and I think they appreciate that. But that can put their heads in weird place...like someone is expecting their music to save the world. If that's the case, then it's sort of making them feel guilty for stopping. But things need to end before it becomes regretful. From every interview I've seen, they seem like regular guys and dont let thing go to their heads....unlike Bono.

  8. If you want a much better interview with Al, check out the one he did with Chad Smith of The RHCP a couple of years ago. Just two guys shooting the bull over dinner.

I tried finding a youtube of this but couldn't.

I ran across this just the other day, as a transcript; I guess the Youtube and the podcast are no longer up. It's an interview from 2013 right before the RRHOF induction. Maybe everyone already read it, I dunno. Alex talks more about his family and guitars than anything else; he also says he has psoriatic arthritis, which I never realized. Chad Smith is interesting, also, except for one part where he is making fun of a young fan who only knows a song as "song two" on her play list. Seemed kind of mean; I don't know, a fan is a fan IMO.

oh yeah I remember the fan only knowing the song as 'song two'...that was actually pretty funny. I think they were talking about the differences in younger fans these days. Gone are the days when kids sit down and memorize the album covers.

Gotta go with degree of difficulty. He really started to real it back after Hemispheres.

  10. Two questions:

    1. What is the overall sense you got from Alex during the interview?

    2. Does it look like he lost any weight? I ask because it isn't good for a man his age who has a grueling tour schedule ahead of him to carry a lot of excess weight. There's a lot of stress involved in touring for a man any age, let alone someone in his sixties.

    1. That's he's ok with doing the tour, but not over the top enthused. Sounds like he wants it to wind down.

    2. Weight...couldn't really tell because he was sitting and his shirt was kinda baggy. Looked like regular Al to me. Not like he needs to be running and jumping around stage, so he'll burn some weight off as they get going.

If Al's not enthused, then they were heavily pressured to do this tour.

I think Ged is the one that's most fired up.

In a previous interview, Ged said he was almost wanting to continue the last tour, but that Al was pretty burnt out.

  13. For those of you who missed the interview...you are more fortunate than us that wasted and hour and 15 minutes. Don't even bother searching youtube...nothing new came from this interview.

God I hate these yacking tools on radio and interview shows that can't shut up.

Clockwork Angels was fantastic! Go, TM! (Get him to talk about Moist.)
