  1. You guys have a point. "Obsess" probably isn't the right word. I just meant bands you're really into at the moment.
  2. Since Friday: Millington - Brass Emo, Vol. 1 (EP) The Greetings - Party City (EP) Camping In Alaska - Please Be Nice Daisy Grenade - Sophomore Slump (EP) Daisy Grenade - Cult Classic (EP) The Offspring - The Offspring The Offspring - Ignition Millington - Millington (Vinyl) Millington - Beatdown Generation (EP) (Vinyl) If there's one unfamiliar band in this post that people here may like, it's The Greetings. They're a bluesy rock band from Upstate NY. I'm seeing them in August, opening for two bands that sound nothing like them, one of which is Daisy Grenade. The other is my second favorite band, Young Culture.
  3. In the past week: Ben Folds - What Matters Most What Makes Sense - Fear And Loathing In The Northeast (EP) Keep Flying - Follow Your Nightmares (EP) Keep Flying - Walkabout (EP) Keep Flying - Unbreakable (EP) Keep Flying - Survival Keep Flying - Revival (EP) Motion City Soundtrack - I Am The Movie (Vinyl)
  4. A month or two ago, literally every tour date they had lined up sold out very quickly. They're absolutely blowing up.
  5. I found a first pressing of Fables Of The Reconstruction by R.E.M. today at a local record store. I also recently ordered I Am The Movie by Motion City Soundtrack on Epitaph Records' website. It's white with tangerine and black splatter. I couldn't insert the image, so here's the link if you want to see it. https://epitaph.store/product/23433/i-am-the-movie-lp-whitetangerineblack
  6. Friday - Monday: WSTR - 'Til The Wheels Fall Off Boys Like Girls - Boys Like Girls
  7. The Attack Attack show was incredible. Besides the Millington show, I have two other shows coming up. The Offspring, Sum 41, and Simple Plan at Darien Lake Ben Folds (solo) at Troy Savings Bank Music Hall in Troy, NY
  8. They've gotten some decent opening slots for bigger bands in the past year and a half, but they're not huge yet. I'm hoping they'll get put on some bigger tours, and hopefully sign to a bigger label soon. I discovered them in December 2021. My favorite band is State Champs, who are one of the bigger US pop punk bands right now. I was getting ready for their annual hometown holiday show. One of the openers had to drop out due to covid, and Pollyanna filled in. I was obsessed immediately.
  9. Awesome, I'm glad you like it! It was definitely one of my favorites from last year.
  10. The Used - Toxic Positivity Every Avenue - Shh. Just Go With It (Deluxe) 5ever - Forever (EP) Pollyanna - Slime (Vinyl) Boston - Don't Look Back (Vinyl) Every Avenue - Picture Perfect Every Avenue - Bad Habits The Starting Line - With Hopes Of Starting Over (EP) EP, I feel like you might like Pollyanna. Segue might as well
  11. They're incredible! I'm so glad they're getting the attention they deserve.
  12. Wednesday-Friday Carpool - I Still Blame Everything Else (EP) Carpool - I Think Everyone's A Cop Carpool - Erotic Nightmare Summer Carpool - For Nasal Use Only (EP) Can't Swim - Thanks but No Thanks Hot Mulligan - Why Would I Watch Scene Queen - Bimbocore (EP) Scene Queen - BIMBOCORE, Vol. 2 (EP) Discrepancies - Product Of Entertainment (EP) Dropkick Murphys - Okemah Rising Kesha - Gag Order Sleep Token - Take Me Back To Eden Look at that, three artists that at least a few people here recognize. Must be my new record.
  13. This is why my band is very hesitant about doing covers. We want a song or two to hook the audience in, but we want to play them in our style. We don't want to become a cover band.
  14. I enjoyed it when I first listened to it, but it was more of a passive listen. I definitely need to spin it again, and really focus on every aspect.
  15. She's amazing. Have you heard Boygenius? It's a collaboration between her and two other big indie singers, Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker.
  16. I think I might actually like Frasier even more than Cheers.
  17. Wednesday-Sunday: What Makes Sense - Fear And Loathing In The Northeast (EP) Young Guns - Bones Dropkick Murphys - Okemah Rising Hot Mulligan - Why Would I Watch Veil Of Maya - [m]other Plain White T's - All That We Needed (Deluxe) Phoebe Bridgers - Punisher
  18. Only two right now, but I'm looking at few others. 5/18: Attack Attack!, Belmont, Traitors, and Savage Hands - Empire Live, Albany, NY 6/16: Millington, Keep Flying, and What Makes Sense - Empire Underground, Albany, NY Empire Live and Empire Underground are right by each other. Empire Live holds around 1000 people, and Empire Underground holds around 400. Underground is right below Live, and its doors are in an alley, just around the corner and down a short slope from Live's doors. I'm not entirely certain of the venue for the Attack Attack! show. About half the sources I've seen (including the shared website for the venues, and the tour poster) have said it's at Empire Live, whereas the other half (including the sign outside the venue, and Ticketmaster) have said it's at Underground. They're right by each other, so it's not a huge issue, but it is kinda confusing. Attack Attack plays metalcore mixed with electronic elements. Belmont is a heavy and technical pop punk with elements of hip hop, metal, and even jazz. They also put out a country-influenced track on their last album. Traitors is straight-up hardcore punk. Savage Hands is a more melodic metal band. Anyway, I've always liked Attack Attack, but I'm beyond excited tosee Belmont. They're in my top ten favorite bands, and I own all of their available albums on vinyl. I'm thinking about bringing my records in a canvas bag, and trying to get them signed. Of course, that means I'll have to stay out of the pit. Millington is a ska punk band from Albany. I've been a big fan since 2019, and this will be my first time seeing them. Keep Flying plays pop punk with horns, but they're not really ska. I still have to check out What Makes Sense.
  19. Thursday - Saturday Hot Rod Circuit - The Underground Is A Dying Breed Keep Flying - Follow Your Nightmares (EP) Keep Flying - Walkabout (EP) Keep Flying - Unbreakable (EP) Dropout Kings - Riot Music Keep Flying - Survival Keep Flying - Revival (EP)
  20. Tuesday and Wednesday: Tiny Moving Parts - Celebrate Traitors - The Hate Campaign Traitors - Night Terrors (EP) Traitors - Mental State Traitors - Anger Issues Traitors - Repent Belmont - Vicissitude (EP) Belmont - Between You And Me (EP) (Vinyl) Belmont - Belmont (Vinyl) Belmont - Reflections (EP) (Vinyl) Belmont - Aftermath (Vinyl)
  21. Wednesday - Sunday Kesha - Rainbow Kesha - High Road (Vinyl) '68 - In Humor And Sadness '68 - Two Parts Viper (Deluxe) '68 - Love Is Ain't Dead (EP) Maloy - The Upside (EP) '68 - Give One Take One Traitors - Traitors (EP)
  22. Honestly, I think my top Rush albums are just the run from A Farewell To Kings to Signals. I will always advocate for Signals as the big standout of the synth era. Subdivisions is a classic, and Digital Man blows my mind every time.
  23. Four Year Strong is great live. I've seen them four times.
