  1. Sorry for the wait. Here's my next one: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v110/Jimyyz2112/Misc/mummy.jpg
  2. I must confess that I'm not much of a fan of modern horror - not enough is left to the imagination and that can be far more unsettling than anything a special effects man can come up with. Saying that, a few recent films have caught my attention lately including Ghost Ship, Deathwatch and The Ring (I've not been able to get hold of a copy of the Japanese original yet). However, my favourite film of this genre has got to be Robert Wise's originalversion of The Haunting. Practically no special effects, no visible monsters, ghosts or knife wielding psychos (yawn) just a great script, great performances, great sets and lashing and lashings of atmosphere.
  3. How It Is "It's such a cloudy day Seems we'll never see the sun"
  4. Something For Nothing "Waiting for the winds of change To sweep the clouds away"

  6. On a golf tour in Ireland, Tiger Woods drives his BMW into a Petrol Station in a remote part of the Irish countryside. The pump attendant, knowing nothing about golf, greets him in a typical Irish manner completely unaware of who the golfing supremo is. Top of the mornin' to yer, sor" says the attendant. Tiger nods a quick "hello" and bends forward to pick up the nozzle. As he does so, two tees fall out of his shirt pocket onto the ground. "What are dose?, asks the attendant. "They're called tees" replies Tiger. "Well, what on god's earth are dey for?" inquires the Irishman. "They're for resting my balls on when I'm driving", says Tiger. "Fookin Jaysus", says the Irishman, "BMW tinks of everyting!"
  7. They're going to have to hurry up otherwise it will be India Jones - Whoops Where's My Zimmer Frame?

  11. QUOTE (Moonraker @ Oct 25 2004, 11:08 PM) Here Again? "I said I played this song so many times before that the melody keeps repeating" Out of curiosity, can you place the clip?
  12. If the actress you are thinking of is Helen Hunt then the film is "Rollercoaster"
  13. and I see you're using your imagination. Most try and guess the song they're playing for some reason.
  14. QUOTE (madra sneachta @ Oct 25 2004, 05:14 PM) QUOTE (Slaine mac Roth @ Oct 25 2004, 05:26 PM) I really should have gotten that one, shouldn't I I was playing around one night and saw "rat's chin" in your name. The finished product was too good not to use. I've always loved your name (although I preferred D.R. & Quinch and Rogue Trooper to Slaine, Irishness notwithstanding). At least you didn't see one in the pictures of me I posted.
  15. I've tried this one elsewhere and no-one's managed to get it yet so I'll see how you lot do. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v110/Jimyyz2112/Rush/36446082.png

  17. As a British fan I had no choice but to go with the R30 tour because I DIDN'T GET TO SEE THEM ON VT
  18. According to this months issue of SFX, Paramount have announced that Steven Spielberg is to direct a remake of The War of the Worlds. To add insult to injury, he cast Tom Cruise in a leading role. To make things even worse for all HG Wells fans (like me) once again the story is to be uprooted to America and transplanted to a contemporary period. Don't get me wrong, I love the Byron Haskin directed adaption from 1953. I think it is an excellent 'Alien Invasion' film (if not a brilliant adaptation of the book). One of the main questions posed in the article is to ask if the world needs another 'contemporary, Americanized take on the tale ten years after Independence Day.' If you think about, that's all ID was - a 'contemporary, Americanized' War of the Worlds. Isn't it about time that someone actually did a proper adaptation of one of the classic SF stories, set in Victorian England? Althoughaccording to IMDB, there is another version, set for release next year, directed by Timothy Hines. According to the current castlist, two of the characters are labelled 'The Artilleryman' and 'The Curate' - both of whom sound as if they belong in the Victorian version of the story.
  19. QUOTE (Earthshine @ Oct 21 2004, 07:01 PM) QUOTE (madra sneachta @ Oct 20 2004, 05:24 PM) QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Oct 20 2004, 04:16 PM) Most toilets flush in E flat. Some researchers have way too much time on their hands I just had this image of a a guy in a white lab coat flushing a toilet while holding a recording device over the bowl. Thomas Crapper must be turning in his grave
  20. QUOTE (Rivendell @ Oct 19 2004, 09:08 PM) Henry V The one with Kenneth Branaugh I couldn't agree more. Possibly the best Shakespeare adaption ever.
  21. If my memory serves me correctly, the RotK EE is going to have something like 60 minutes of additional footage when compared to the theatrical release - that's practically half a normal length film.
