  1. I think they should try something new. Something absolutely unexpected that will remind us how forward think rush have always been!

Something orchestral maybe? Like a live album where they revisit old songs with the synth replaced by an orchestra. To keep us on our toes!

Saying that I still have seven albums left to discover. Must seek them out first!

  2. I want one, extended conceptual piece like 2112, Hemishperes, or Lamneth. They don't have to do a full album...the 2112 or CoS formula would be perfect in my mind.

And to be clear, that doesn't mean they need to go to the 1976 sound. Stay modern, advance your sound, but do it in a different format.

Oh, and don't overlayer the guitars, have too many Geddys, and mix the album well :D

    This.

Honestly? I just want another great Rush album! But an extended piece written in a modern style would be really sweet!

  3. I own all their albums, aside from the latest one!

I have to admit I like them, but they have yet to fully grow on me (give them time! Most of my favourite artists were acquired tastes for me!)

I think Funeral is my favourite.

  4. Although I gave a lengthy list, I will explain briefly my two favourites:

Karmacode- Lacuna Coil. I bought this the day it came out back in 2006, and disliked it for months. Then it grew on me, and everything about this album is perfectly suited to my tastes, thoughts, feelings and emotions. Cristina Scabbia is by far my favourite singer of all time, and this album showcases her breathtaking range to the full! And Andrea Ferro, the bands male vocalist, also gives a stunning perfomance throughout this albums thirteen songs. The lyrics are cryptic, but deep and meaningful and I just love the warm production and the arabic influences. Lacuna Coil are my favourite band, because they make me feel. I just connect with them, and this album feels like my heart, my blood in music form. Its funny because when I hear people talk about their favourite album, I always sense look down on me for this choice. Whatever anyone's opinion, regardless of this albums nu-metal influences (greatly exaggerated by the bands old-school fans), this is the greatest work of art I have ever heard in my life! No on can convince me otherwise. This album is everything to me! If this was all I could ever hear for the rest of my life, I wouldn't complain.

The Second Wave- Khoma. Another album from 2006, ignore the link of the year date, as this album took a couple of years to establish itself as a real favourite. In my affections, only Karmacode tops this. I can't explain my love for this album, its too strong, but Khoma are a unique Swedish band formed of members of Cult Of Luna amongst other well known bands, but the music bears more in common with indie/shoegaze. Flawless melodies, experimental musicianship and absolutely beautiful lyrics make this my second favourite album. But in all honesty, the bands entire output gets full marks from me! When people tell me how amazing Radiohead and Muse are, I always wonder if the sounds they have in their head actually sound like how this feels to me. I love this album so much!

  5. I like Muse, but I saw them live this year and found them to be too overblown for my tastes. But I can't deny the fact they put on an amazing show!

Great band, but not one of my favourites! I find Showbiz to be one very underrated album, though my favourite is possibly Absolution. My least favourite is the rather brilliant, though pompous, The Resistance. So yeah, I very much like all their albums!

  6. It has to be Limelight. I bought Moving Pictures on a whim and this was the song that got me hooked all the way back in the day all those years ago.

    Well, 2011 anyway!

Close second would have to be Witch Hunt. Their is something so very haunting about this song words cannot describe!

  7. Will see...may just get the recent box set and then save HYF for last. I don't hate Power Windows, its just not the side of Rush I fell in love with, and if it was I don't think I would have gone any further!

Saying that, I do love Grace Under Pressure with a passion, so I'm not against the synth era, and Signals has finally grown on me! So I have some faith in PoW. As someone said, this isn't pop music!

  8. There are some albums I have not listened to in their entirety in a long time like rush and fbn. Mostly I listen all the way through. If you just started listening to them in the last couple years it's no big deal that you are still getting into some albums. They have a big catalog and the music takes time to absorb. This isn't pop music.

I am sure this isn't directed at me, but I am encouraged by these words! A lot of the thirteen rush albums I own are still growing on me, and lately its been AFTK and Hem especially! So yeah...I will keep on going. I used to really dislike Signals, but lately its become thoroughly listenable, but I can't see PoW growing on me, which is frustrating because I really appreciate the sound. It just leaves me cold!

I like to go in chronological order, so how is Hold Your Fire?
