I don't get the hate for T4E. Maybe it will get worse with repeated plays? Totem stood out as one of the better tracks!

Is it about lack of faith, atheism, too many religions? The lyrics confuse me...does he (I presume its Peart) believe only in what he can see?

I am annoyed there are no newer bands for me to get excited about and follow! Their is Lacuna Coil and Alter Bridge, but they aren't new...so rather than grow with Rush I'm having to take it all in in one go! But over the last two and a half years I've discovered a host of old school rock bands, and Rush are the most unusual band I have ever come across! Nothing is ever fashionable with Rush, and yet it always seems so bang on trend! And I used to believe prog was a dirty word...
And I still find it hard to believe the same band, with the same lineup, could have made an album like Caress Of Steel and also Power Windows. What other band can claim to be so versatile? And I think the last twenty years has seen a lot of awesome Rush albums, if this box set is to be believed. I am playing Test For Echo right now, and it is really unusual. I do feel relieved I'm now up to date, its been frustrating not owning or knowing loads of the albums! It did take me ages to get accustomed to the sounds of seventies-era Rush, and once i did grow o love it, the synth era came along and completely puzzled and frustrated me. Now I am sort of into that era, the return in the 90's to more traditional rock has solidified them as one of my favourite bands! I've tried to keep my collection chronological, with a couple of exceptions, so that I do not completely get lost...but the transformation from the synth-era to albums like CP and T4E has impressed me more than even Clockwork Angels overwhelming greatness 40 years (roughly) into their careers. They progress without ever reverting back, or doing a complete 180 and shocking us completely. Their evolution is surprisingly fluid, with the odd frustrating release (I think we all have our own opinions on which ones these are hehehe!).
Is their anything left for this band to do? Coz as soon as I get bored with one album, I have choice of another 19 albums, all unique, to choose from!

I couldn't possibly vote just yet, but I thought CA was for dead certain the winner...but I am playing Counterparts for the first time, and its potential to ultimately be a top three favourite is clear for all to see!
Wow...after having played PoW through Presto a lot in the last couple of days, it has to be said I was not expecting them to rock so hard on an early nineties release!
For now, its a toss between CA and CP. My first taste of VT will be in the form of the remix, and I will remain open minded when playing T4E and FB.

Come on children! Behave!
I am really digging Counterparts. Has to be said...I don't care about sales statistics (Otherwise we would all be backstreet boys fans!), CP is better to my ears than Snakes and Arrows.

I can't wait to start arguing over the entire Rush catalogue!
Woop! Presto down...five left to go and I'm gonna be a pro!

Yay my box set arrived!
A bit bare bones but hey! It was cheap...so looking forward to catching up with EVERYTHING!
Dunno why, but I am really looking forward to Counterparts and Vapor Trails.

Have you absorbed All The World's A Stage yet?I will hunt that down when I have absorbed the box set!
Arg....I keep forgetting about this one!

That is such a relief! Which is the best of that lot?

Well...I found I pointless...like I just don't see the point its all so clever and yet it has nothing to say!
I did not enjoy the films either, so its probably me.

I prefer Tolstoy to Tolkien. Just saying.

I did but I didn't really pick up on that! But still...
So is this new one likely to please me?

Oh my days I love framed vinyls but I also love to touch and feel them!

How is the sound quality?
I have Rush In Rio, and the vocal mix is so bad I have no desire to ever buy another live DVD from Rush again (coz that one cost me £19).
However I can't afford to see them live, so if this is a good alternative could someone let me know? Either that or perhaps another better alternative.

I am eager to read that book! I think it sounds like a real gem.

That picture of Kate Bush is the spitting image of a girl I came very close to marrying

Grand Designs is doing all kinds of right for me right now!
So much style without substance
So much stuff without style
Great lyrics! I am still unsure how this album matches up in comparison to their more hard rock/metallic albums, but on its own terms I am really digging it!

Ok, my new Rush box set comes tomorrow so it won't be long before I can make a proper assessment of this era of Rush.
But all of a sudden, Power Windows has opened itself up to me and it is an absolute gem! I am now edging close to proclaiming it a masterpiece. It is just so ethereal and the melodies are fantastic! It is as intoxicating musically as much of their earlier works, such as A Farewell To Kings or Moving Pictures, even if it is completely different from that whole sound!
So for now, and I love to say I have been proven wrong, Power Windows is tops (and I think its a far better album than Signals and possibly as good as Grace Under Pressure).

Emotion Detector is also a brilliant song!
This is getting harder to do...Power Windows has little of what made me love Rush in the first place, but I am starting to love it on its own terms! Having enjoyed listening to Hold Your Fire this week, the future bodes well for me and the rest of their catalogue!

I am really starting to get into this album, and Grand Designs has suddenly started to stand out as an amazing song! Its all getting so much more exciting!
This is turning out to be a brilliant album after all my complaining!

Im looking forward to hearing Vapor Trails. I have held off listening to it coz I couldn't face the sound problems

I am very interested in events like these, because it is wrong to pretend they didn't happen. I plan to get a couple of books on this subject, and I will have to get around to viewing that making of. Sounds essential!

Oh I forgot to order that!
Will make it my NEXT rush purchase. I keep meaning to get it!
Best of the 5 last albums?

I am now playing VP- Remixed.
I held off from listening to this, and now its remixed all I can say is I am glad I waited! This is still one very loud record!
And a brilliant one to boot. The lack of keyboards is not an issue, I love this change! And their are a lot of amazing songs here...I have had an amazing day catching up with Rush, and the Atlantic years have made we question just how much I prefer the seventies efforts. There is a lot to admire about their latest albums!
Counterparts and Vapor Trails are as good as Clockwork Angels. That makes me very happy!
It's distracted me from Bruce Springsteen. I never expected that!
