  1. I didn't include Red Barchetta because it wasn't played 2 of the last 5 touring years. Edit: Sorry, I just realized I posted this on the wrong forum.

Right now there are two meet and greet pairs for San Jose on a broker site. The cheapest pair is $1650...each... I think it would be cool to meet the band and have a picture taken, but not $3300 cool. That seller is full of shit, you don't get M&G passes sent to you. You get to the arena early and give them your name . No band sends you the passes before hand , not even Kiss You have to meet them at the venue. Yes, so how can you sell them to someone online ? Only a sucker falls for that shit Buyer at the box office - Yeah hi, i just came to get my Rush M&G passes Box Office Person - Is your name on the List ? Buyer - Yeah, it should be Box Office Person - What radio station ? Buyer - Not a Radio station Box Office Person - Are you with the Band ? Record Label ? Buyer - No , i payed $ 3,300 to a Seller on E-bay that i Never met or talked to. Box Office Person - Your an idiot I've sold tickets this way and it's not really complicated. I went, picked up the tickets, met the buyer there, and then we consummated the transaction. It's not brain surgery.
  3. Wow, how prophetic! Where should I invest my money? Who will win the World Series this year?
  4. Some people say Peart's lyrics are sexist; But you lovely bitches and ho's should know Peart is trying to correct this.
  5. I loved S&A when it came out. But that was based largely on the strength of Far Cry, the instrumentals, and the better production quality. By the time the tour happened, I knew that I wouldn't like the beginning of the second set so much (playing 4 songs in a row from S&A (after Far Cry); all of which were mid-tempo and unremarkable. It became a bathroom break for me for the 6 concerts I attended. CA has no 4 songs which, if played together, would make me unhappy. In fact, it has only two songs that I don't really like (BU2B2 and 7COG), and one of those is too short for me to take a pee during, nonetheless find the bathroom. CA is simply a better album for the vast majority of Rush fans, and it's not hard to see why.

    CA in the charts

Does anyone have the US total sales for CA?
  8. I think the only guarantee from MP is Tom Sawyer. I'd love to see a medley which hits several concert staples so that we can still get some deeper cuts. I really don't want a tour with just CA and greatest hits.
  9. Better than anything between Moving Pictures and RTB, not as good as anything between FBN and Signals. I have it about 9th, with the potential to rise over time.
  10. It belongs on Counterparts, where it would be the 5th or 6th best song. But, I agree, it's not Rush's best.
  11. I voted for 12, but it really depends on the child (does s/he want to go; how mature is s/he) and where the seats are (I'd be more inclined to bring children to the lawn than to row 15). My reasoning is two-fold: (1) it is loud. very loud; (2) the amount of smoking and excessive drinking. On that second point, I think you should assume that pot use and excessive drinking will occur (the band certainly encourages the former). Having a child around makes the regular concert experience difficult for those around you, and, of course, you probably don't want your child exposed to such things.
  12. You know everyone is "gaming" the system when feedback isn't the first to lose!

Where can you buy the passes? you cant buy them. You can buy the VIP package "for a chance" at a meet and greet. One lucky winner per tour stop. And I could win the mega-millions too, I guess. Ugh!

Presto is where they started to roll down the hill, but they fell off the cliff with RTB. It seems incredibly odd that someone could like Counterparts and dislike T4E, which improves on Counterparts in every possible way. Look around the polls around here and you'll see Counterparts consistently in the top 10 for most Rush fans and T4E near the bottom. WHY? LYRICS, LYRICS, LYRICS Musically, I think the albums are similar and the production sounds similar. Lyrically, however Counterparts has Neil's most personal, straightforward, and dark lyrics. T4E's lyrics? Half the World, Dog Years, Virtuality, Totem, Time and Motion? No good and some of the lyrics are downright cringe worthy. T4E also has the honor of containing Rush's worst instrumental in Limbo, which goes nowhere Sorry, but I just don't see how T4E improves on everything Counterparts was. After the brilliance of CP, it turned out I was bitterly disappointed in T4E Obviously, everyone has different opinions of what makes a good song and a good sound. To me, there is a big musical improvement from CP to T4E. Songs like Stick It Out, Cut To The Chase, Between Sun & Moon, Alien Shore, The Speed Of Love, Double Agent, Cold Fire and Everyday Glory are disjointed and/or bland. I appreciate the return to guitar oriented, harder rock. But the songs just don't cut the mustard. On T4E, the opposite is true. The music alone makes great, cohesive songs, while sonically pushing the band to a more interesting place. Regarding the lyrics, I just don't see what you're saying. Many of the songs from CP mentioned above fall flat as they can be trite, overly repetitive or just not engaging. T4E has more universal lyrics. The album is indeed more playful than Counterparts, but even in a song like Dog Years, we are given an extra layer or two of meanings that make the song interesting. Anyway, I've said this before and I'll say it again: One of the great things about Rush is that they are so diverse that very different people can love very different things about the band. And even though I don't like this album as a Rush album, I still like it more than most of the other output of bands I do really like.

Presto is where they started to roll down the hill, but they fell off the cliff with RTB. Interesting, as RTB won back a huge number of fans that were lost because of HYF and Presto. Counterparts lost them all again. It seems incredibly odd that someone could like Counterparts and dislike T4E, which improves on Counterparts in every possible way. Ditto with RTB and Presto.
  18. QUOTE (substancewithoutstyle @ Jul 16 2012, 04:35 PM) I never really cared for it. They were trying too hard to sound like the alternative bands that were around at the time. The first time I heard Animate I heard similarities to Evenflow by Pearl Jam. I can appreciate what they were trying to do, but I don't like the results. I can understand why a lot of people like it, because it is sandwiched between RTB and T4E! I love RTB and T4E! Each one improved on the unfinished promise of the previous album.
  19. Wish Them Well has been stuck there for about 3 weeks. Fortunately, I haven't tired of it yet
  20. Excluding "Feedback", where does Rush rank among Rush's best albums? I was surprised to read in another poll on another site that the plurality of Rush fans felt that CA was Rush's best album since Counterparts. I had always considered Counterparts among Rush's weakest, with good lyrics and very weak songs. My opinion is obviously in the minority. How much so? I thought I'd ask you guys. My theory on why people like the album is that it returned Rush to a harder sound, and it didn't have the "pop" elements which made RTBs Rush's best seller after the 80s. People wanted to love it because it contained much of what they had been demanding for so long. Of course, the answer could simply be "different strokes...".
  21. QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Jul 13 2012, 08:14 PM)QUOTE (GANRUSH2 @ Jul 13 2012, 07:59 PM) On a side note, off topic.. on tour I pray they don't add string parts to other songs (just because the orchestra is there). yea i really don't want the orchestra or strings used on anything but the ca songs. if they start using it on some vault tunes they might break out, that would be a disappointment. If they don't use it on some of their vault songs, it would be a huge disappointment. Why even bother if we're not getting strings on Losig it or Manhattan Project? Why not give us a new arrangement of something we've heard a billion times? Look how great Resist was with a new arrangement.
  22. I had no idea that "Between the Wheels" was so popular. It remains one of my least favorite Rush songs, and I was dismayed to learn that they didn't retire it for the second leg of the S&A tour.
  23. I always thought that it was a wasted opportunity that they played In the Mood so often on their tours, even into the 80's. I guess it's because Geddy wrote all of it, because it's simply not a very good song. Oh well. I just wish they would have played some other rarities from time to time.
