    Alex not Alex

He's a teenager that thinks he's found what he wants to do with his life and doesn't want to listen to others. Knowing it all and creating drama is what being a teenager is all about. Even though his parents were right, I'm glad it worked out for Alex

  4. QUOTE (greyfriar @ Jul 26 2012, 05:23 AM) Gone with classic (add Hemispheres). Hemispheres is the proggiest of the prog records. It seems an odd choice to throw in with "classic". Signals, maybe, but not Hemispheres.
  5. QUOTE (deathlikesilence @ Jul 25 2012, 12:47 PM) QUOTE (likeclockwork @ Jul 25 2012, 12:41 PM) QUOTE (deathlikesilence @ Jul 25 2012, 12:07 PM) QUOTE (drbirdsong @ Jul 24 2012, 09:57 PM) Is it really a spoiler to say that Rush will playing The Spirit Of Radio at any concert since 1980? no, i was just curious as to whether or not it had been revealed as an opener or closer or encore or what cause i'm expecting TSOR to open but if i find out it's not i can have fun playing rush guessing games I wouldn't expect Spirit of Radio to be the opener this time around given that it was the opener last tour. one would think that, but it was the opener for three tours in a row back in the 80s and honestly i think it's the perfect opener no matter how many times it's been done Agreed. Everyone claps their hands and gets excited, pumping them up for the concert.
  6. QUOTE (Cyclonus X-1 @ Jul 25 2012, 12:36 PM) Well, Geddy has been talking about how much he's going to have to rehearse The Anarchist in order to be able to play the basslines and do the vocals at the same time when they perform the song in concert. Here's one instance: QUOTE "As soon as I recorded the bass line for The Anarchist', and then put the vocal on it, I looked at Nick and said, This song is going to be a motherf*cker to play live!', and he goes, 'What? Really? It's not so complicated.' The thing is, it's not about what's complicated, it's about the direction they're moving in; the bass is moving in one direction and the vocals are moving in another direction. I'm going to have to play that f*cker so many times that I can't think about it anymore, and that's why we've left ourselves more rehearsal time before this tour than we have for any other record, because I think we're going to need it - at least I know I will!" (Source: http://www.2112.net/powerwindows/transcrip...00fireworks.htm ) 1. Tom Sawyer 2. TSOR 3. Carnies 4. The Anarchist
  7. QUOTE (DistantEarlyRushFan @ Jul 25 2012, 02:41 AM) What's VP? lol Vexing Production, of course. Is there another name for that album?

  9. QUOTE (drbirdsong @ Jul 24 2012, 09:57 PM) Is it really a spoiler to say that Rush will playing The Spirit Of Radio at any concert since 1980? Probably not. I do, though, hope that some of these standards are in a medley, rather than being played yet again. I understand that they almost have to play the classics for the new fans, but I still hope they drop a staple or two, and so confirmation of what they're not dropping is interesting to me, at least.
  10. Lifeson said with Alice Cooper that songs like TS and TSOR have to be played when discussing the current setlist. Alice offered TS and Alex offered TSOR. And sorry about the wrong forum. I'd move this if I could. This is the second time...meaning I'm not a smart man.
  11. So, in interviews, the band has confirmed the following songs: 1. Tom Sawyer 2. TSOR 3. Carnies Any others?
  12. QUOTE (goose @ Jul 24 2012, 07:36 PM) PeW and MP are tops for me, along with the debut and Caress. Presto, CP and VT stand out in later RUSH. Kimono-RUSH and synth-RUSH are the my two least favorite periods. T4E is an outlier. I love the name, Kimono Rush
  13. QUOTE (metaldad @ Jul 24 2012, 03:03 PM) AFTK - Signals If I weren't trying to break up the albums by style, I probably would have done something similar, though CoS-MP.
  14. I could go different ways on this on different days, but with the "classic" and "early" eras each having only two albums, I have to go with "prog".
  15. I know people will disagree with my groupings. This is merely how I think of the albums and I expect differing opinions. I can see CoS being grouped with the early albums as their level of "prog" on that album was more simple than in their other "prog" albums. Also, Signals could be included in the "classic" section. And from Presto on it's harder to "classify" the albums - Presto and RTB are very different than CP and T4E, but I thought they were similar enough to be grouped together.

  18. QUOTE (Tommy Sawyer @ Jul 23 2012, 11:40 AM) If Presto was included in the 90s group (as I think it should be) I'd go for the 90s. This is though because each other group has an album I really don't like (Rush, Signals, S&A) but the three 90s albums by themselves are not good enough. I'll probably go for the 70s. I've always felt that RTB sounded more like an 80s album than Presto sounded like a 90s one. I should have combined everything from RTB on into one category to see if that would make the later work more attractive to voters.
  19. QUOTE (SchemingDemon @ Jul 23 2012, 11:46 AM) I googled it for you, and it appears you are in the fourth row, but since you're in section 1, you run the risk of possibly being way off to the side. Do you know what your seat number is? If the seats are numbered 1-14 for example, seat 1 will be all the way on the outside, whereas 14 would be in front of Geddy. The double letters (AA, BB, etc.) are usually reserved for rows 27 and behind after A-Z have been used, if they even exist at your venue. Sometimes it's better to get the middle section further back than to be up front but way off to the side. Good find on google...my search was inconclusive. I'm in 3 and 4, so I guess I won't have that good of a view. I should be able to see Geddy well enough, though
  20. QUOTE (FT Tracker @ Jul 21 2012, 07:47 PM) Loved Rush the first album. Working Man was play on the radio all the time back then. I also bought Fly by Night thought it was a good album. Caress of Steel did nothing for me. I bought All the Worlds a Stage live album. Got 2112 live on that album. I still have it and the first album. I think Caress of Steel done me in. Never bought another Rush album, cd or dvd until I seen Beyond the Lighted Stage doc in 2010. I have now returned as a Big Rush fan. Went out and bought the doc, then 2112, then moving pictures, exit stage left came next, Time machine live in Cleveland also went to that concert and just bought Clockwork Angels. Going to see them in Indy Sept. 13. I plan on buying Hemishere and Permanent Waves soon. I still do not like any songs from COS. Strange. I don't know how you can like the first two albums and not like Lakeside Park or Bastille Day. I don't know how you can like 2112 and Hemishperes and not The Necromancer and Fountain of Lamneth. I think the issue with this album was that it was so transitional. The fans of the metal only got two songs to sink their teeth into, and fans of progressive or long-story pieces didn't know about Rush until 2112. They were in an "in-between" phase that is great for us fans now, but back in 1975 I'm sure no one knew what to do with the album.
  21. QUOTE (Unattractive Truth @ Jul 22 2012, 05:16 PM) 80's (including Permanent Waves, despite your timeline shenanigans!). Well, if you don't want to play by the rules...
  22. QUOTE (hughes&kettner @ Jul 23 2012, 09:06 AM) QUOTE (snowdogged @ Jul 19 2012, 06:09 PM) QUOTE (NYM86 @ Jul 19 2012, 04:32 PM) I'm not a fan of the song 2112, and Geddy can't really sing it anymore anyway. That's blasphemy in this forum! 2112 is not a "song" anyways....plus there is no singing in the title track anyways, outside of "oohhh" Usually they play the first two sections of the song, which have a lot of high pitched singing that Geddy can no longer do (hence tuning the song down).
  23. Rush: 127 Fly By Night: 163 Caress of Steel: 159 2112: 41 A Farewell To Kings: 95 Hemispheres: 20 Permanent Waves: 7 Moving Pictures: 19 Signals: Dead (1) Grace Under Pressure: 8 Power Windows: 18 Hold your Fire: 14 Presto: 94 Roll the Bones: 93 Counterparts: 101 Test for Echo: 98 Vapor Trails: 96 Feedback: 107 Snakes & Arrows: Dead (2) Clockwork Angels: 102 Hemi+1/PeW+2 GUP-3/CP-2/HYF-1 Note to others: can we please keep the killed albums and the order that they were killed? I like to see in what order albums are eliminated, and it's much easier to see in this manner than to go back and try to figure it out later.
