  1. Now that I think of it, maybe Wish Them Well is a message from Rush to their fans about the RARHOF. That they need to get over it and move on. Unlikely it was intended, I know, but I can see reading into it in that regard.
  2. QUOTE (HowItIs @ Jun 19 2012, 02:55 AM)QUOTE (Lost In Xanadu @ Jun 18 2012, 01:24 PM) QUOTE (Godeater2112 @ Jun 18 2012, 03:15 PM) On a serious note, I started analyzing the waveform, listening to the first part backwards and comparing it to the ending played normally... The beginning is just the chanting and ambient sound + some of the following lyrics backwards + the end of the beginning is the beginning backwards... here are the bits of lyrics you can make out, taken straight from the song and sang the same way: Globes of light float in mid-air Higher still, against the night Clockwork angels bathed in light I was having some fun digging and then had to take a hard stop, discovered a hidden message from the Watchmaker right at the very end of the song. He warns us, foreboding.. Wouldn't do that...... If you don't believe me, crank the music fairly loudly at the end, right around the 7:27 mark and listen... I don't know about you guys but I'm not f**king around with this ANY more! Are you nuts? that's the Pedlar asking "What Do You Lack?" Exactly! It's one of them (Neil, I think) saying "What do you lack?" It's in the liner notes, gang..... I don't have the album in front of me so can only go by the lyrics shown on the Cygnus-X1 site but I don't see "what do you lack" printed before the opening lyrincs to CA.
  3. QUOTE (SchemingDemon @ Jun 18 2012, 02:26 PM)Sounds like the plan is to play most of CA on the first leg then switch it up a little on a second leg. Sounds great to me RIAB just posted an Alex Lifeson Billboard interview where he seems to indicate the opposite "could" happen: "There's a great deal of pressure on us now to do the whole record, which we don't anticipate. I think our intention is probably to prepare the whole thing; whether we'll do it or not we're still not sure, especially on the first leg of the tour. There's still a lot of older stuff we want to do, and we've got some great songs lined up from the past. We'd be loathe to drop them to add more of 'Clockwork Angels,' at least on the first leg. It's always nice to switch up on the second leg and make it a little different." ...
  4. You're welcome and agreed: I feel as though, by going through this exercise, I understand the story behind the concept so much better than I would have.
  5. QUOTE (Lost In Xanadu @ Jun 18 2012, 02:32 PM)I would be very interested in your finding though. I don't know if it's backwards, it sound like choral chanting to me... Aren't there audio programs you can play stuff backwards in without needing the vinyl? It sounds like chanting for most of the early part, but from about :18 to :25 I feel like I'm hearing words.
  6. will do, but I don't expect to know that much more until after I've read the book.
  7. QUOTE (SchemingDemon @ Jun 18 2012, 02:26 PM)Sounds like the plan is to play most of CA on the first leg then switch it up a little on a second leg. Sounds great to me I was already planning on trying to make a show during the 2nd leg (attending here in Mpls in Sept) so that would be great. Unless by 2nd leg you mean the Europe dates. 2nd leg N America is what I'm hoping for.
  8. Just an Escape Artist, those were my thoughts exactly. A slightly shortened show by doing all (or most) of CA as the 1st set, and then everything else as the 2nd set. Or everything but CA tunes the 1st set, then CA the 2nd set with time left for a few "ender" tunes and then the encore.
  9. I think Wish them Well would be a barn-burner live.
  10. so far I'm liking Lost In Xanadu's interpretation the best, based on what I know of the story behind CA. But some of the other responses are pretty funny. To answer your question, GernTheFish, yes. I've heard chanting from sources other than CA. If your question is, do I ever hear chanting in the absence of sound the answer is no.
  11. I'm glad that those who are choosing to read my intro summary are enjoying it. I enjoyed writing and sharing it.
  12. in the first 25 seconds or so of the song I swear I can hear Geddy saying something - not just chanting. But I can't make out what it is. In fact, at the point where it seems most audible (and not just chanting) it almost seems to be something being said backwards - ?? So in this case I may have to actually play it backwards to figure it out - gonna have to get the vinyl. ;^) Does anyone else hear this or is it just me? Sorry if this topic has already been discussed somewhere else...
  13. apology accepted but there's no need. just having some fun, that's all.
  14. you're right, D3strukt. just like Owen will never see the 7 Cities of Gold. Sigh....
  15. Well I'm sure most of you are completely engrossed in the album as I am (holy cowpie! Geddy's vocals on Wish Them Well!) but I thought I'd throw in some levity (and maybe some daydreaming as Owen might do): If we ever see "Clockwork Angels - The movie". Who plays Owen Hardy? and does anyone know Peter Jackson's phone number?
  16. I have to agree. I'm still looking for (about to give up) those one or two songs I would skip over when listening to the whole thing through. They're not there...
  17. QUOTE (Chronos @ Jun 17 2012, 03:33 PM)QUOTE (Owen Hardy @ Jun 17 2012, 01:04 PM) Thanks ifloveremains and LyndseyG. It illuminated much of the CA story for me, which I was very interested in learning about, and so I felt folks would appreciate my sharing it. Not to brag but I may be one of the very early Rush fans to find out the protagonists name. Hence my handle when I signed up on TRF this morning! I'm finally here: "On my way at last!" Also discussed here a few days ago: http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?show...7&hl=owen+hardy Thanks for the link to your FB page! excellent...

  19. Thanks everyone and happy father's day, EveryNerveAware! (saw your other thread). It's funny that you have a Bill Murray pic in your signature since everyone has been telling me my entire life that I look just like him. Maybe I'll start a seperate thread on the CA summary I wrote as I think a lot of folks would enjoy it. I enjoyed writing it and am looking forward to reading the CA novel.
  20. The honeybee is the symbol of the Watchmaker. I got my hands on the sampler booklet of the novel and it explains a lot about the hole CA storyline. I posted a summary of it as a note on my FB page. Go here to read it (shouldn't need to be a member of or logged into FB to read it but let me know if you can't get there from here and I'll reply with the summary pasted into my post): DON'T READ THIS IF YOU INTEND TO READ THE NOVEL AND DON'T WANT TO KNOW ANY OF THE STORY BEFOREHAND! http://www.facebook.com/notes/ken-webb/clo...403919106327068
