So sorry to hear that.  I was not aware he was battling.

I absolutely love the Black Crowes DVD that was recorded/performed live in his cabin up in the woods (in front of a big crowd of about 50 lucky people).  What a fantastic vibe.

I have several friends who were at some of those Black Crowes Cabin Fever performances (which were done over three weekends in February and March of 2009). I didn't get there, but I did see Levon and the Crowes tour together that summer...imagine my thrill, as a drummer since I was a kid, with Levon Helm singing and playing about fifteen feet away from me. Some of the Crowes came out and did The Weight with him and his band. I've seen the Crowes about four dozen times since 1992, and that particular show, in my hometown on that tour, stands out as one of the two or three best I ever saw.

    RIP, Levon

  2. Hey now, everybody. I've been snooping around here for a little bit and decided to go ahead and join...I've been listening to the band since about 1979 or '80. I was introduced to them by my older brother (stepbrother), and I have this crazy connection, a very emotional-type history with Rush.

I have to admit they fell off my radar for about ten years, from about Test for Echo up until just a couple of years ago (OK, I guess that's more than ten years)...but I've been busy finding my way back home, so to speak. Heh heh.

Looking forward to the new record, and maybe going to a show or two (I haven't seen them since the tour for Counterparts, spring '94)...and getting to know some of you.

I really don't listen to any other prog rock or modern rock...I'm much more into blues, blues/rock and folk. I'm pretty picky, and very opinionated, but that's not to say disrespectful.

All I can say is hey, what a groovy example of happenstance it is that in the whole course of human history, that we all get to exist in the same space and time with these three fantastic musicians...innit? Don't you think?
