  1. i luv what they done to ged's bass in caravan with those kinda echoey rolling effects, combined with the new keyboards it completely re-energizes the track for the album

the new kinda sci fi keyboards in BU2B do the same

this is a great album, could easily be top three for me it's that good.

  2. cant do it, all i can say is BU2B probably at the very top by an extremely small amount and Headlong Flight at the bottom.... but even HF is a great track

this is just a great great album, Alex in particular is on fire here but both he and Ged have given their all to support Neil's album concept

Carnies is one of the best tracks on CA, people just haven't realized that yet!

yeah, the problem is though, the whole album's just f*ckin brilliant you cant just single out one or two tracks...... i also luv the bit 5:22 in the anarchist where Al goes mental again... pure lifeson at his crazy best

  4. as an overall album CA blows S&A outa the water

S&A has one or two nice moments, far cry & bravest face like totally awesome but every single freakin track on CA is great rush

after S&A i honestly wasnt expecting something THIS good

  5. at the end of wish them well the line is stated in the notes as 'Even thought you're going through Hell...'

every time i listen it sounds like Ged singing 'Even though you're going TO Hell...'

which naturally would give a different meaning smile.gif

have a listen will ya help me out

  6. when i first heard the album i had one or two negative thoughts on it even though was kinda generally very good.... now, as each day goes by, the negative thoughts replaced by awe and CA is becoming one of my very favourite rush albums and could even get right up there into top 3

this is rush, and particularly Al, at their best... we dont deserve it.

  7. just gave the album version of BU2B a listen for the first time since checking for differences on 'release'....

gotta say, this is a superb well balanced rush album of great rush music.. and BU2B still so freakin good its still my fav... truly awesome rush at their surreal best

it still sounds fresh and electric now a couple years later

I was flicking throught The Sun newspaper here in the UK this morning, and as I reached the album review pages, a red square caught my eye at the bottom of the page. It was of course the CA cover.

I'm happy (and also quite surprised) to report they gave it 5 out of 5, and the review mentioned the fact that Rush didn't get the memo that bands nearing 60 shouldn't be putting out this kind of music. Basically, it was a review full of praise for the album!! In a national newspaper, probably the biggest selling one in the UK! 1022.gif 1022.gif 2.gif 2.gif

    excellent.

i know there was the classic rock thing lately but as a uk citizen we dont get anywhere near enough mention of our fav band in the uk media, nothing on tv certainly and nothing in newspapers, its a joke really.

  9. perfectly happy with everything on the album its a great piece of work and a welcome comeback after s&a i think... only thing id have liked more of is more minutes smile.gif another track or two, maybe an instrumental, would have been fab

Don't get me wrong, I'm loving CA a bunch. But this "new album" giddyness is silly. I had a hunch, so I did a search on this forum for when S&A came out and guess what.. same damn threads saying the same damn things. "Best album ever, etc.." Heck there is even a "grammy nod for sure" posted by Vital Signz.

Before everyone creams into their respective panties, let's all wait a few months for everything to sink in before we start burning our Moving Pictures Albums because they are meaningless after CA.

i'd luv to do a search to see what you said at the time of s&a but #bothered

seriously dude, it's a new rush album, there hasnt been one for five years, this is a dedicated rush forum, ... lighten up maybe?

I think Wreckers is solid, but there are at least 4 songs on the album that are superior IMO.

after the initial instant attraction for the garden and seven cities of gold, tracks like the wreckers and the anarchist are starting to move into focus for me... this is just overall a superb album

  12. yeah but sometimes dull and nothing special is desired effect, the intro does indeed sound like it could have opened countless other songs but i'm sure the band aware of that too... i like the ordinariness Rush have planted into their music at times it's a sign of maturity and accentuates the different and special parts
  13. yeah, aside from the fact they have families that need some of their time, i think over the years Rush have become maybe a little overly perfectionist if thats possible...... back in the mid 70's they went into a studio for 6 weeks and knocked out a little album called 2112, id like to see the guys at least try to adopt that kind of approach one more time and not get too stressed out making music anymore
  14. yeah thanks for the link.... cant help wondering what a lot of this album would have been like if the actual creative band members had sole control of every track in production... like i noticed in the video Ged would sing it his way and then be told to try another way by the producer, which is ok i aint really criticizing that but, just wondering who the artists are here thats all smile.gif

Playing The Garden again, Jesus H, this is HUGE. That piano, those lyrics, the strings.

This is a song by men who have lived, loved and lost, like all of us, but luckily for us, they make something astonishing out of their experiences. This is not something tossed off by some Prog wannabe or some supposed technical wunderkind. This is music to nourish the soul.

    It ends with magic.

    this.

  16. bu2b and the garden for me but voted the garden as it's new and just mindblowingly good and emotional... the great thing is though, every single track reaches a very high standard on this album, as opposed to s&a which dropped the ball just a few too many times for me

edit: seven cities of gold with it's lovely zeppelin vibe gettin a lot of play from me too oh yess

  17. yeah id have been just as happy without the new intro, barrelling straight into bu2b from caravan would have been just fine, but i'm really diggin the new mixes, particularly the kinda sci-fi sound effects in bu2b... like a little bit of hawkwind in there
