  3. QUOTE (Boogra @ Aug 19 2011, 01:54 AM) Wait wait wait...I'm new here. Are you guys telling me that I can send in something to the guys and that they will not only sign it but mail it back to me? And where do you send it exactly? Explain please? Shhhhhhh it's a secret! As far as I understand during the tour you send an item you want autographed to the venue with a pre-addressed package and payed for and they normaly sign it. Don't tell everyone because I'm sure this "well" is drying up

Very. Very. Very. True thank you all so much for your advice. I learned R30 overture yesterday without a problem so thank you all for your help. I just need to not stress out, because when I do I mess up on the intro for closer to the heart. Again this has been great! Thank you all for the advice

Hey man thanks for the advice and maybe your right. I disagree about how rush is not complicated but I do see your points. I'll give them a lissen. Maybe I need to just set it down, take a break, and come back more level headed. Just an idea.

I'm fine with just playing the songs! I can rock it out and keep time but the solos kill me

QUOTE (HowItIs @ Aug 18 2011, 01:39 AM) I've also been trying to learn Rush songs and, yes, I DO get frustrated sometimes. I've been trying to learn Presto for months. I kept at it, though and I can play most of it now, albeit slowly. But this time last year I couldn't play ANY Rush. So I look at how far I've come and not dwell on what I CAN'T do. Look at all the Rush you can play! Keep it up! What songs do you find easy to play, expeahily solo wise? I want to learn marathon, stick it out, and other songs from the time machine tour. But can you give me some pointers?

    For those who rock

Thanks for all your advices. I never really lissoned to alot of bands growing up so Jimmy was not mine, Alex was. Granted I like the white stripes, red hot chili pepers, reel big fish, and others but nothing comes close to it. I don't think my love for this band is unhealthy, I think it's fine and it's dedicated. It's a religion to me because it's helped me through every stage of my life. Neil Lyrics could be brought up at a moments notice to fit a spacific time in my life. RUSH HAS HEART, and as such I let them infulence me to this point, if I'm wrong I'm so very sorry.

    For those who rock

After seeing them, listening, and honestly making them as close to a religion as a man could I'm stuck. I love rush and there the only reason I started playing the guitar and bass. Alex knows it, Geddy knows it, and I know it. I feel so much pressure playing rush though, I stress out so much while playing it. I mean I love playing it sometime I ask myself what If you never learned, you could just rock out like everyone else. But then I yell back, "you do have fun! You enjoy it" if it was not for Alex's amazing solos I could do it's just the solos and the magic he does on spirit of the radios intro. I'm not in a band but I wish I was honestly. So can anyone relate to my argument between myself? Do any of you struggle and get frustrated to the point you just quit midsong while learning it? Granted these are what I can play (solos and everything) 2112 overture/temple of syrinx Far cry Closer to the heart Tom Sawyer Good News First (without solos) Bastille Day Something For Nothing Working man Summertime blues Limelight Fly by Night Spirit of Radio(defently not ontime with the intro) YYZ A Farewell To Kings The Trees Passage to bangcock Cygnus x-1 ANY ADVICE?

  19. With rush themes? What do I need to make a amazing looking shadowbox
  20. QUOTE (Puppyloo @ Aug 17 2011, 12:50 PM) QUOTE (TheY2k @ Aug 17 2011, 11:33 AM)I might have to do that. Thanks man While I like the look of the circular shadow box, you lose a lot of workable space inside of it because of the items being squared off. You can find the round boxes on-line, but they are pretty pricey and the color/style selection is kind of plain. I would suggest you go with the rectangular framing shape - again easier to fit more inside and easier on the budget. What I would do if I were you is start hitting thrift/antique stores and find some old broken clocks, ideally some grandfather or coo-coo clocks. Bust them open and hot glue some of the interlocking clogs, springs, gears and various mechanisms to create a few interesting accent pieces to place in the a couple of the corners of the box. (You might even just be able to find clock repair parts online, too.) This way you get the steam punk feel, without overpowering all your pics & stuff - which should be the main focal point. Lay out all the pieces that you want in the box (pic, tix, stix, etc) and see if there is a common color tone (or a complementary color) to all of them to pick your matting colors - honestly, this was the toughest step for me because not all of ours had one. You can tie in the same feel to your flat frame as well, so they will sit together as a set nicely, by carrying over some flat gears/cogs in between the matt and glass. I've throw together a sample image below to give you rough idea of what I'm trying to describe (I'm a graphic designer and I really should be working right now, but this sounded like more fun at the moment!) And keep your eye out for custom framing coupons for Michael's - they have them pretty often, usually 50-60% off. http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/g360/Puppyloo/TestFrame.jpg And just FYI for all those laties and fellow new world men around me, I'm standing by Alex, the goofy one is my father. I'm 20
  21. First of all I appreshate your work and your ideas, it looks really good secant of all, HOW DID YOU FIND MY PHOTO?! lol I'm leaning more now to a simple shadow box, with it being long. I need it to be wide enough to house the sticks and house 5 photos that have good sized prints. I could do this all myself the only thing I'm worried about is matting. I tend to RUSH things so if I don't cut right once the whole board is a waste. And I don't even know what background I would use. I'm thinking black frame with gold trim, then simple black matting board and have gold paper behind that so I will have to be sure to account for the boarder around the sticks, picks, tickets/passes, and photos. My main worry is if it will have enough room to house all the items within the box
  22. I might have to do that. Thanks man
  23. That is a great dream, but honestly I don't see Alex doing that. I ment If I just send it to the venue do the normaly sign it?
  24. So we are all in agreement, we love your shadowbox well what did you guys think of mine? Good ideas? Maybe a different color? How much does a shadow box and matting paper cost?
  25. i do too but ive never hurd of a circle shadow box so i dont know where to begin. i think the first one is more likely and i honestly like the first one alittle more. i jist need a good color for the matting.
