  1. Here's the story that inspired the song: http://www.mgexperience.net/article/nice-drive.html The guy didn't die in the story, and I don't see any reason to think he dies in the song either.
  2. QUOTE (Lerxst UK @ Jan 15 2012, 07:23 AM)People really should get out and support the worlds Rush tribs, it's a great night out. Despite appearances, most don't take themselves very seriously at all... even if they do go for a bit of 'cheese' and do the look-alike thing to some extent... its all part of the fun... a bit of TIC 'pantomime' if you like. It's not some deluded wierdos thinking they're Rush reincarnate (as far as know anyhow)! Rather, the point is its a bunch of Rush fans both on and off stage celebrating this fine music in an alternative format. A lot of the fun is not just in seeing the bands... it's meeting and talking to other Rush fans in the flesh... ... Most bands put in a fantastic amount of hard work to produce a listenable and enjoyable show. No band will ever recreate Rush 100% but there's some good efforts out there all the same! So do yourself a favour and get along to one or two shows.. even if you have to travel a bit. +1. Well said. My band does it because it's fun and we hope the shows will be fun too. We're not going to fool anybody into thinking that they're going to a Rush show. There's another band that (still) does that. We just try to put on a show that we, as Rush fans, would enjoy, with the hope that other fans will like it too.
  3. QUOTE (kevorkazito @ Oct 18 2011, 03:14 PM)When I play I use Dunlop nylon .60mm picks and could kinda get it. What brand of picks does Alex use? The only thing I recall reading about his picks is from the 1980 Guitar player Magazine interview: QUOTE I like white nylon ones made by Kay [3057 N. Rockwell Ave., Chicago, IL 60618]. They're about equal in thickness to Fender mediums. More currently, see 11:10 of this video of his TM rig rundown (Dunlop mediums): I'm sure with enough searching on the web, one could find what kind of socks he wore on each tour as well...
  4. I'm not an expert on Gibsons, but am interested in Alex's gear so I did a little research. My guess is that it's actually an ES-345. At the time of Hemispheres he had a 335, 345 and 355. Assuming this is the video you're referring to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtWxyRi8mwY If you pause it at 0:48 seconds, you can see it has a varitone switch, which I think rules out the 335. The fretboard inlays are split and the headstock inlay is the crown, both of which are features of the 345, not 355. And as far as I've read, the only 355 he's had is the creme one he played on the latest tour. This is all based on a little bit of searching I just did, so there may be exceptions to those features, special editions, etc. I'm sure someone more familiar with those models of Gibsons can confirm which he's playing.
