Toronto, played game three, and lost 4-2.  Game four is on Sat.  For a Utah last name, maybe, how about glaciers?  The Utah Glaciers might not sound bad.  It was a name idea.

Not bad but glaciers are slow...The Ice has been proposed too...I wouldn't mind the Blizzard (although too close to the Avalanche :coy:) and Outlaws has possibilities.  These are on the registered trademarks list and fans are voting on them.  Time will tell if the team will get a good name.  Fingers crossed..

The welcome party yesterday had a full house and lots of kids in their youth hockey jerseys met them at the airport.  I was surprised at the size of the turnout.

  2. I have never used Tik Tok but know of others who use it for their business.  I would assume they could use other social media for the same thing but I am not clear on why the same scrutiny is not being directed towards Meta, YouTube and Twitter.  The foreign government involvement is worrisome but I haven't seen much information to back that up.  Seems like a knee jerk reaction IMHO but I don't have a dog in this fight.

I finally finished Taliesin and started the second book in the Pendragon Cycle: Merlin.  Having primed the pump I hope to go a bit faster now.

We also finished the Dragon Warrriors series, which was just ok.  Now I think we’ll return to the world of Star Wars with the second book of the new Thrawn trilogy.

Apparently there is also a 6th book in the Percy Jackson series, so the kids will be starting that as soon as I buy it.  And, as blessings and curses come in threes, the book is supposed to be a start to a new trilogy.

I love Percy Jackson, I just got the new one on audio (it's one of the series I love to listen to).  I am glad to see familiar characters come back, I hadn't heard it was going to be a trilogy, that sounds good to me.

Still reading Hell is Empty, got behind this last week with some family issues (a death of a pet, family member passed).  Plus it is hockey playoffs so that eats into my reading time

They'll be taking Lukas Reichel from the Hawks then.

I was thinking of the name of the team being the embarassment, who knows what silly name they will pick?  He's actually going get some good players and picks but remains to be seen if he lets management handle it and not stick his nose in where it doesn't belong.

Right now Yeti is the top name bandied about

Play by play, or analyst? Their play guy is harmless enough, so I'm thinking you mean Daryl Reaugh, aka Razor, their color analyst. He's certainly unique with his offbeat humor and descriptive phrases, but he's super knowledgeable, and in my opinion he''s the best analyst in the game.

And as for their goal song, custom made by hometown Pantera? Also the best in the game. I'm been to games at the AAC and it's a loud and fun place to see some hockey.

Obviously you 100% disagree with all this.

Yeah that's the guy,  makes the dumbest comments trying to be clever...a ludicrous save

Only time I cheered for Dallas was in 1999 when they had Modano, Hull, Belfour and Joe Nieuwendyk who I cheered for when he was with Calgary (Flames were the parent club for our minor club in Salt Lake).

  6. Well, it's been a wild start to the playoffs, so many goals by multiple teams.  Leafs managed to win one. Anyone thinking Dallas was going to mop the floor with the Knights was sorely mistaken, Stone once again has a miraculous recovery and manages to score their first goal.  Looking at the fans in the stands, Dallas was not living up to their expectations.

I was nervous about the Avs against Jets but they scored 6 goals on Hellebuck?  We should have won and if we don't split these two games I am not optimistic.  MacFarlane really goofed not finding another goaltender especially since it was common knowledge Francouz was going to retire due to his injury.  Oh well   fingers crossed

p.s. and our new team owner has decided to let the fans pick the name of the team since they can't use the Coyotes.   Here we go with the equivalent of Boaty McBoat face:facepalm:

My picks to advance to the second round: Vegas, Colorado, Vancouver, Edmonton, Tampa, Boston, New York R, Carolina. That doesn't mean I'll be rooting for all these teams.

I hope Florida makes it rather than the Bolts.  Nashville might be a spoiler but pretty much agree with your picks.

Well, give it time. Smith might eventually sell the team to Trump...   :bolt:

Love the "DALLAS!  STARS! post-goal crowd chant, one of the best in the League.

To each his own, it's obnoxious and dumb. They have one of the weirdest play by play announcers too, like nails on a chalkboard.

If you change your favorite team again, I'm not going to be able to take it anymore.

If you read my comment, I make it clear I don't trust Ryan Smith to do right by a hockey team.  His first priority is the Jazz and getting a new arena paid for.  I don't trust him and won't be buying season tickets.  Avs are my team and if I do go to any games, I'll wear their jersey.  Especially if they choose something stupid like Yeti..

  10. Feeling a bit concerned, Avs have had some serious lapses and lost some key games.  Will be playing Winnipeg in the first round and that's not looking so good.  Just hope they manage to finish on a win Thursday.

On other news, not sure what the hell is going on with the NHL, going to send the Coyotes to SLC??  As much as I would love to have an NHL team near me, this has me feeling skeptical.  After all, the owner of the Utah Jazz will be involved, what could go wrong?  Oh, how about getting a new arena built then selling the team as soon as your tax write offs expire.  Yeah that happened once before so I wonder what do we not know about this deal?  Stay tuned I guess.

  11. Sitting in the sun reading is one of life's pleasures for me.  My previous house had window to the west I enjoyed laying on the carpet reading the Sunday paper there.  Got a rocking chair and would sit there to read, often with a kitty in my lap.  Heaven

What a great, record breaking football player, what a garbage husband. Such a violent guy and we didn't know for a long time. My sister was a food server for a long time in a prestigious restaurant in Pittsburgh, a remodeled train station. Way in the corner of the huge room was a little table they called "the OJ" because you had to fly through the rest of the room, running like OJ, to get there and still have the food warm.   (before 1994.)

It unfolded so strangely. I remember my dad, who never watched anything but the food channel, calling me and going, "Are you watching the white Bronco? I can't turn it off!" And the trial was certainly proof of the fact that wealthy people who can pay for the best lawyers have an advantage.

So sad for OJs kids to see violence against their mom, lose her, and then lose  a (crappy) dad for a time also.  Terrible for the Goldman family as well, whose son didn't do anything but try to be kind.

If there is any justice, the Goldman family will be able to attach his estate.  What a travesty of the legal system, has lead to the circus around 45's trials today.

I’ve been horrible on reading for the last two weeks.  I’m on the 4th book of the Prince Warriors series with my son, and I’m at the Gospel of Luke in my study Bible, but I am going through both slowly and have basically stopped reading Taliesin.  It’s not for any fault in the book as I have found it interesting, it is just laziness.  I need to get myself going again.

    Rhyta, where are you at?

You are doing better than me, I am struggling to read much.  I think there are so many distractions that take me away from my reading, podcasts being the big one.  But this time of year I had always had a slump in my reading with hockey playoffs taking a big chunk out of my reading time in April through June but this year I can't seem to read much.  I even stalled out on Geddy's book, hoping I can break out of it soon.  Going to try my usual fix, re-reading a book I like and that can spur me back into reading.  Going back to Longmire, I had started a re-read of the series awhile back.  Hell is Empty is the title.

  14. Avs had a much better night, 5-2 over the Wild. MacKinnon got a hat trick, first time he has 50 goals in a season (with the 3rd goal it is 51).  With an assist on another goal, he is closer to Kucherov in the Hart race with 137 points.  Makar had 3 assists and a goal as well.   This is more like the Avs I love :pirate::clap:

  15. Feeling very sad for my brother today.  His cat Garfield was put to sleep Sunday.  She (yes, a girl..there's a funny story there) had been losing weight for a week or so and I took them to the vet Thursday.  Seems she had a blockage and wasn't getting much nourishment from her food, and even if they did surgery the prognosis wasn't good.  He took her home Friday to have time with her over the weekend.

Losing a pet is always traumatic but for him, it has been devastating.  He lives alone and she was his little buddy and companion.  Going to be difficult to come home to a truly empty house now.   My heart just hurts for him.
