The Owl Posted December 25, 2009 Share Posted December 25, 2009 My Playstation has f*cked up! And on my Birthday (the 21st) nonetheless. The disc drive went out....It still reads discs, but barely.... Games, DVDs, and Blu-Rays constantly wind up freezing. Now I cannot play games or watch the 5th season of Lost that I got on Blu-Ray for Christmas! Oh, well............. I called the PS support line (very helpful BTW) and they tried to help trobleshooting it for me...but nothing helped... I am going to have to send off for a replacement.. I have an older model 80gig, and am out of my warranty; to fix it would run me around $140 (plus tax and shipping). The other option is to get a new Ps3 for $120 (plus tax and shipping). So I am going with the latter and will send off for a new ps3. I will unfortunately lose backwards compatibility, but will gain 40 more gigs of space. I don't play the ps2 games that much anymore anyways... all I actually care for in my ps2 line up is the god of war games, and they just ported those over to the ps3, so I will be picking that up as well.
