psionic11
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4zP7l2NFKs This collection of pictures really hits home. "The simple truth -- 100's of thousands died...." "The slaughter of the innocent is not diplomatic however you coat it." If this can't move you, then I don't know what to say... FrankB
I especially like the way Neil wrote the lyrics for this song, in just a few sentences he says so much and things so true!! The music fits the emotion of the song really good! I think people underestimate the quality of the lyrics of Rush. There isn't talked a lot about. psionic11
Here's a series of interviews with Neil in which he mentions he read 10 books to make sure he got his facts and the prevailing attitudes straight: There are 7 interviews about 8 minutes each where he talks about Buddy Rich, Africa, reading while touring, and the discipline of writing. I'd love it if he did more historical type song lyrics. Opinions come and go, and some issues are universal, but nothing quite stays like facts. And of course, Neil's excellent use of double-meanings and wordplay: Imagine a man where it all began The pilot of Enola Gay Flying out of the shockwave On that august day All the powers that be And the course of history Would be changed forevermore... "August" refers to both the month and the awe of that day. I'm sure several convictions of that pilot were challenged as he witnessed the mushroom clouds incinerate hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians below...
