Click HERE to listen now. In the summer of 1976, Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward headed to Miami to record Technical Ecstasy at the famed Criteria Studios. The band was coming off a world tour for their previous album, Sabotage, that had found their live performances evolving to include keyboards and synthesizers. These newly incorporated instruments and sounds were then introduced into the recording process on Technical Ecstasy. The new songs encompassed a wide range of styles from the hard charging “Back Street Kids” and ballad “It’s Alright,” to the funky “All Moving Parts (Stand Still)” and progressive “Gypsy.” The album also featured the single “It’s Alright,” which was the first Sabbath song to feature lead vocals by Ward. The Deluxe Edition presents a newly remastered version of the eight-track album, along with an entirely new mix of the album created by Steven Wilson using the original analog tapes. TECHNICAL ECSTASY: SUPER DELUXE EDITION comes with eight previously unreleased outtakes and alternative mixes. Among those are different mixes of “You Won’t Change Me” and “Rock ’n’ Roll Doctor,” as well as both outtake and instrumental versions for “She’s Gone.” The collection concludes with 10 previously unreleased live tracks recorded during the 1976-77 Technical Ecstasy World Tour. The songs touch on different eras of the band’s history with early tracks like “Black Sabbath” and “War Pigs” alongside new songs “Gypsy” and “Dirty Women.” The collection comes with an extensive booklet featuring artwork, liner notes, rare memorabilia and photos from the era, plus a replica of the 1976-77 world tour concert book and a large colour poster. 3. Within the previous 3 years both these guys had parted ways with Sabbath, by 1983 who is the real Master of Reality?
  4. Iconic 80s song vs. iconic 90s song, which is your pick? I think I'll go with No More Tears!
  5. Who's the best frontman from this bunch of rock icons?
  6. What are your top 10 Ozzy-era Sabbath songs? I'll compile mine a little later.
  7. I bought both of these albums in the past month or so to kick off my summer, but which one is your favorite? Yeah yeah I know Use Your Illusion II was released the same day as well...but I haven't listened to it yet, so I'm going with I whether it's better of worse than II.
  8. I'm wearing one of my Sabbath Bloody Sabbath t-shirts today and just now it got me thinking about my Ozzy-era Sabbath album rankings (again) for the 6 billionth time. It never gets old! So here's my latest rankings! 1. Paranoid 2. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath 3. Master of Reality 4. Sabotage 5. Vol 4 6. Black Sabbath 7. Never Say Die 8. Technical Ecstasy What's yours?
  9. For me it's mostly Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. That could be the definitive Sabbath riff...could be...but there's so many great ones!
  10. My favourite SABBATH live album is not even a Sabbath album it's Ozzy Osbourne's Speak of the Devil. It ROARS!! And despite no Iommi or Geezer Butler or Ward it sounds incredible and with an amazing setlist including Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Symptom of the Universe, Never Say Die, Snowblind, Fairies Wear Boots and The Wizard Here's my top 3 Sabbs Live albums: 1. Ozzy Osbourne - Speak of the Devil 2. Mob Rules (Deluxe Edition disc 2 Live at the Hammersmith Odeon) 3. Live Evil
  11. We'll say it's a bumper setlist of 25 songs. The songs have to come from the first 8 albums as it's for the original line-up for a special farewell gig in 1978. I notice they did 17 songs in 1978 in Cincinnati but one was the guitar solo so it was really 16. So just 70's Ozzy-era songs remember. You don't have to put in songs like Paranoid and Iron Man just because the audience would expect them, just pick your best 25 tracks. Here's mine: 1 Symptom of the Universe 2 Sabbath Bloody Sabbath 3 A National Acrobat 4 Hole in the Sky 5 Tomorrow's Dream 6 Back Street Kids 7 Johnny Blade 8 All Moving Parts Stand Still 9 Lord of This World 10 The Wizard 11 Wheels of Confusion/The Straightener 12 Hand of Doom 13 Into the Void 14 Under the Sun/Every Day Comes and Goes 15 After Forever 16 The Writ 17 Shock Wave 18 Spiral Architect 19 Killing Yourself to Live 20 Black Sabbath 21 Fairies Wear Boots 22 Electric Funeral 23 Snowblind 24 Children of the Grave 25 War Pigs
  12. I'd say Circumstances, this is a song where Geddy is singing the riff in the chorus, or Alex is playing the vocal melody...whichever...and Ozzy was doing this a lot with songs like Iron Man and Electric Funeral. And it's one of the heavier RUSh songs with a dark moody vibe!
  13. Black Sabbath 'six tracks' into recording new album - without Bill Ward The metal legends will release their comeback album in April next year Black Sabbath have revealed that they are six tracks into recording their new album. Tony Iommi has said that the final album will consist of 15 tracks. The Guardian quotes the guitarist as saying: "We've written the 15 songs and we've played them all, but now at the moment we're recording them. We're about six tracks in at the moment." Iommi also confirmed that the legendary metal band are working on the new album, which is due for release in April of next year, without original drummer Bill Ward. "We'll always have a heart for Bill, but I think it's gone past that now, because it's gone on so long I don't see that happening at the moment," he said. Last month, Ward said to Eagles Of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes in On The Road - Black Sabbath and the Birth of Heavy Metal - which you can view at Vice.com - that he hoped to make amends with the band. Ward said: "If there is some longevity with Black Sabbath, then I'd like to be part of it." He added: "I wanna play hard rock music. I wanna play loud drums. I love playing with Terry [Geezer Butler, bass]. I love playing with Oz [Osbourne, vocals]. And I love playing with Tony [iommi, guitar]." http://www.nme.com/news/black-sabbath/67059
