  1. Superconductor is to me the worst song they ever wrote. Again, I will remind those who were there and inform those who were not of the way that song raped Xanadu on the RTB tour as it vomited forth from an exciting version.

I'm not sure I follow what you are saying. Are you saying they cut short Xanadu to do Superconductor?

    Yes, they did.

And I hold the dubious distinction of having seen three shows on that tour. :P I still have a particular nostalgic fondness for that era, though, that most people don't. Probably has to do with the te]age I was at the time.

I saw them during that tour and I remember being so disappointed that they cut Xanadu short. I thought of all songs to cut, that was absolutely not the one. I saw them during the next tour which was Counterparts, but then it was another 10 years before saw them again. I think it was just a shock to the system.

Indeed...part of my world died that night and every time I hear the opening to superconductor I think of that horrible transition...I can't even use that word. It exploded out of Xanadu like the alien sprang from John Hurt's chest. For that reason I have not listened to side 2 of Presto in years. A shame, because there are some great tunes on that record.

a little dramatic. I saw the RTB tour multiple times and I have no permanent psychological scarring.

    that I'm aware of.

You must be tougher than me...or you don't mind Superconductor.

  4. This is tough...it's between DS and EN only because of the calibre of the other songs. I am going to go with EN only because of that solo that fades out of DS which is incredible. If that solo could ever pop up complete....

  5. I am not a guitar player so i am wondering why do people mention about the Rick's are heavy?? Seriously? I know Geddy is not the most masculine fellow out there but c'mon, strap on the Rick and tear it up like you used to! Geez!

They are. Also the Ric neck is wider and thicker than the jazz. It's like playing a telephone pole compared to the jazz.

But really, the weight issue is with the double neck, not just the Ric. It is quite a bit heavier. I would think just for Xanadu they could break them out. The place would go insane. Of course he'll have to that for 50+ shows or whatever the number is.

The man is almost 62. Would be great to see one last time. I have to admit.

I never noticed a difference in weight between the Ric and the jazz... The Steinberger I had humorously enough was heavier than both of them. One thing I remember Lee saying about the Ric was that the sound wasn't as fat. I agree though always thought the Ric had a great sound. One thing I remember was the neck was a pain to keep straight.

  6. I went with Closer just because this album is near flawless and that is the tune I have heard, encountered many versions, and witnessed more times than the rest. That's the only reason...still like CTTH, especially the E...SL version
  7. I don't like the album or the concept. If they made the covers more Rush-like maybe....I like the Yes version of America because they stripped everything Paul Simon from the song a made it theirs. Ditto Hendrix and Watchtower.
