How did fighting cause his death?
Well, Rypien was an enforcer and that means his death automatically has to be connected to fighting somehow. Yeah, I don't really understand it either. I'll wait until the news comes out about why he died before assuming a link, but for now the debate is going on and it's a worthwhile subject regardless.
Why should fighting be taken out of the NHL? It's been a part of the game for decades. It helps to not only keep the games interesting, but gets the fans pumped up again. Hell, it's also been known to reinvigorate a team to victory. The men who are considered enforcers earned their reputations, and to my knowledge...not one NHL player has ever died from fighting.
Dumbasses are overreacting again, that's all.

The news just broke on Twitter a few minutes ago...no details yet but apparently it's been confirmed by the local police.
He obviously had some personal demons to deal with last season, but it really seemed like he was getting them under control towards the end of the season. I really thought he was going to get off to a fresh start in Winnipeg...what a tragedy
Yeah, it's blown up my facebook already.
All my hockey sites are still silent about this. Always hate to hear about one of our NHL family members leaving us...
And so soon since the last one...it's something you never want to see happen to a current player.

I love to watch him play (at the AHL level) But besides that, I'm sure that's all we are getting. Darcy is looking for some trades to unload some of our depth at wing.. Maybe grabbing some good draft picks in the process.
If we could get rid of some of our lower wingers for draft picks it'll be perfect. We've picked up too many of them and not enough everything else lately.
Yeah ship some of them off and then put in Foligno and Kassian... Can't wait to see those guys in the NHL.
I think some faces would get rocked...in addition to the nets.

I wasn't pissed that Vancouver lost Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals at home. I was pissed that they didn't even show up for the damn game and got shut out >_<

Especially with Jakub Markstrom, come to the tail end of the season why not try him out?
Could do something great, though i don't think so.
Also for a change the east looks stronger as a conference then the west, as the worst teams in the east look better (on paper) then the westsColumbus should be much better this season. Might even sneak into the playoffs if they're lucky. Same with the Leafs if Reimer doesn't have a full-on sophomore slump. The Kings might be the team to beat in the Pacific Division.
Surprisingly awful teams? Phoenix, Anaheim, Philly.
Philly wouldn't surprise me if it failed horribly this season. Anaheim would be a bit of a shock. And Phoenix is always flip-flop with me. The Kings winning their division would be wonderful for me, though. I'd be able to wear that glorious purple third (02-07) proudly!

I'm curious about TRF fantasy hockey too. Never actually participated in a league before, but I figure I might as well give it a shot this time.
I've been busy job hunting as well as clan duties on xbox live....when I've not been watching hockey and working, anyways.
I missed having arguments with blackhawkrush when it came to the Canucks. You can only imagine how much I celebrated when Burrows exorcised all those demons. 
I was in the league last year, and it was a blast. My first year actually doing fantasy hockey and I came in second! Only lost by three goals though...

OH MY GOD HE'S ALIVE!
So yeah. I've been getting my ass kicked by this whole World Juniors thing going on. 12 hour days are just nuts. Doing it since the day after Christmas is insanity and the only thing keeping me going is this enormous paycheck waiting at the end of the tunnel. As of this typing, there are two days after today PLUS inventory Thursday morning.
US/CAN tonight at 7:30, SWE/RUS at 3:30.

I would say hockey.
Just because i live in an area that's so passionate about the sport.
The Yankees are my love too though, its just that they aren't as close to home as the Sabres are.
Same with me. I mean I love my Argos but I REALLY LOVE my Penguins. Kinda weird I didn't succumb to the rabid Leafitis most of Torontonians suffer from.
That is interesting...I always figured anyone in/near Toronto who isn't a Leafs fan is shunned/burned at the stake.
