QUOTE (quickfree @ Jul 28 2010, 04:38 PM) Just got the VIP package today. Biggest surprise I thought was the guitar picks and magnet thats also for sale at backstage club. Don't remember if this was mentioned as part of the original package, but it seemed like a little extra something thrown in to make up for the shipping delay. The guitar picks were always meant to be part of the set. There was no mention of the magnet, but I wouldn't consider it an "extra" under any circumstance. The picks are barely held in their case and so any vertical placement causes them to fall out for the most part; if you lay it horizontally, you can't get them out. So I don't know what metal surfaces would be reasonable to place a set of guitar picks on. There are 1000 other ways they could have given us a little "extra" for the shipping delays rather than unnecessarily adding a magnet to guitar picks.

Jesus, they really should have had more to choose from if that's the crap they're giving us. All the delays were because they hadn't settled on a t-shirt design or something along those lines, correct? And they finally come up with the most bland, least creative design they could come up with...the f'n
logo...see, my entire shirt is a smiley (and at least this one flashes). What's wrong with saying, oh I don't know...Rush Time Machine Tour 2010? How about giving us a voucher to choose from a selection of t-shirts? For a "specially designed" t-shirt, I feel bad for those fans who probably already have a shirt exactly like this one, who like the rest of us, expected an ounce of creativity.
On to the poster...why on earth is it a small version of the Fly By Night cover? Seriously, why? Again, what's wrong with a poster that reads...Rush Time Machine Tour 2010? The Fly By Night album has absolutely nothing to do with the tour at all (they didn't even play a song from it on the damn tour). If they're going to be album specific, why not let us choose the album? Fly By Night is in the bottom 5 of my list of favorite Rush albums and now I have to display it proudly because I will feel even more jipped than I already was if I don't. Don't even get me started on the whole "limited edition" crap either (out of 3500?). What is the point in numbering it?
Augh, well this will teach me to ever buy a VIP package again. Maybe next time they can actually let the fans know what everything will look like before we buy it. I wish there was someway I could boycott this crap and make some exchanges because as of right now, I feel like I spent 350 (x2) for merchandise, like someone said, I "could make myself."
P.S. (Thanks for giving us the spare copies of Working Men from the warehouse that no one ever bought, 2 tracks that everyone else on the face of the earth has already bought over a month ago, 10 pieces of plastic that will be lost in a week, a DVD, without a choice of Blu-Ray, that everyone has either seen in theaters or bought...the tourbook is cool, I guess.)

I would be either
or
if I went to the show and the show mostly consisted of pre-MP material. There are a few songs that I actually like from that period, but for the most part I never was able to get into the material then. It was MP (and maybe PeW) that was the true beginning of
for me. Anything before then = boring, imo.

Middletown Dreams for sure because it hasn't been played since 85 (and it's an amazing song). I know everyone here seems to be sick of The Big Money, but it's quite possibly my favorite off the album and since I've never seen it live, I would love it

1) Keep the e-kit!
2) I would love to see Lock and Key transition into the drum solo, I think it would work out amazingly!

What is the best advice you have to give: Sleep
Could of swore you would have went with "Put Down That Weapon."
-
Went with "Booty Meat" based on the title alone.
-
Lost "Moving Pictures" footage?
-
It's know it's been played on every bloody tour since 1982, but seeing as how it's my all-time favorite
song and I've never seen them live (until July that is
), I have to go with "Subdivisions."

Wow, I was utterly surprised when I selected one of my top 10 Rush songs and saw it in the lead...
...The Enemy Within!

^^^ I believe they use the "close enough" argument because the styles of Presto are reminiscent of what was to come in the 90's in addition to its release date. Hence, why PeW is still considered an 80's album, because the sound is more MP than Hemispheres. I personally don't agree with Presto being a 90's album, knowing that it was released in the 80's regardless of "sound," but I can understand where others come from.

I wish they would just come to MI in general. However, I really don't have a problem getting out to Chicago either.

QUOTE (Mara @ May 30 2010, 02:57 AM) Prime Mover. I love the entire album, but this is a particular favorite and it hasn't seen any attention in sooooo long. This. Even though "Lock and Key" is my favorite off HYF, I didn't particularly care for it live, and I don't think the performance will improve 23 years later.
-
Where's the "all of the above" option? My absolute favorite
album.
Even though "The Big Money" is my favorite song on the album, since it's been done, I voted for the close second "Middletown Dreams."

I agree with this statement completely. With the exception, of course, of Tai Shan, High Water, Second Nature, Lock and Key, and Open Secrets...take these away and u you have a flawless album.

Absolutely love the 90's material (of course, not as much as the 80's). Definitely would rather hear a concert of only 90's material than 70's or 00's.
My 90's favorites:
-Roll the Bones
-Face Up
-Where's My Thing?
-The Big Wheel
-Ghost of a Chance
-Animate
-Stick it Out
-Alien Shore
-Double Agent
-Cold Fire
-Test for Echo
-The Color of Right
-Dog Years
-Virtuality
-Resist
-Carve Away the Stone
BTW: I was born in 1990, discovered Rush in 2008, first love was a 1982 song, and favorite album is from 1985. So I'm curious as to what point Lerxst69 was making

Received both of my packages today, one of them being the XL shirt which I've heard people having trouble with. I already posted my thoughts (in this thread) on most of the package prior to receiving it, so I won't repeat myself on those points. A couple things I would like to add is the shirt, while I still am irked about the design, is quite comfortable and fits nicely. The poster is even smaller than I expected (I'm not sure of the exact size, if someone could inform me that would be great) and the numbering is handwritten (unless it's written by the band themselves, I don't see why someone had to go through writing that 3500 times). By the way, who was lucky enough to have 2112/3500?
The picks I discussed in the "haven't received package" thread. The DVD came in a nice sturdy cardboard packaging, I was expecting a typical cheap plastic one, so that was a nice surprise. Though it seems I was blown off 2 months ago when I requested that I possibly swap the DVD for Blu-Ray.
The tour book quality-wise is nice to hold and and the pages are of nice glossy material, however I'm not too impressed with the content (maybe tourbooks published AFTER album releases are a little better), the pictures have their moments and at times quite informative, but overall, are typical shots. Neil can't quite elaborate fully on the experience since they only have 2 songs done at this point. I feel like the boys aren't as into this tour as they would be after Clockwork Angels is released.
Just my (additional) 2 cents on the package.
