You can change your partner, divorce your family but you can never change your team. That would be unthinkable. A line has to be drawn somewhere.

QUOTE (The Main Monkey Business @ May 17 2010, 03:35 PM) Who's been watching the play-offs on sky?
Blackpool have been out of this world this season and I am backing them to get into the Premiership.
Swindon v Charlton tonight,
Millwall v Huddersfield tomorrow,
Then League 2 action after that.
Just glad we went up automatically and will be in League 1 next year, I dont think I could bare the tension of the playoffs if we were in them!
Blackpool eh?
I'm going on Saturday to support Cardiff City. Very nervous at the moment.
C'mon City!!

Hey Disco!
How was the Brighton Marathon?
Hope you got around in one piece.
-
Phew.
In the play-offs
-
Congrats on the new arrival Disco.
Hope you have a great time at Brighton. Keep an eye out for Marillion's keyboard player Mark Kelly I know he's running it too.

Hope your hilly half goes well Iluvgeddy.
My technique for hills is keep your eyes down, the hill isn't going anywhere, and just imagine the road in front of you is flat. It works for me

Cardiff edging closer to a play-off spot.
Plodder edging closer to no fingernails.

Did my half in a steady 8 min mile pace. 1.46.26 It was very hilly or as they say in running talk "undulating"
I had my final preparation info through the post for London. Getting quite excited now.

QUOTE (iluvgeddy05 @ Mar 21 2010, 09:39 PM) 13 hard, hilly miles today.
I practiced my 1/2 marathon coming up and am noticing it is going to kill me.You'll be fine. Once you're in with all the other runners it'll be less of a chore like training and more like fun.
I've a half-marathon on Sunday. After that i'll start thinking of tapering down my mileage.
I'm also going to break in a new pair of running shoes. These'll be the ones I run the marathon in if all goes to plan.
Good luck with your half.

QUOTE (iluvgeddy05 @ Mar 11 2010, 01:44 AM) My routine has become 3 miles 2x a week, some pilates and long run on the weekends. Finally getting my new schedule down. Just not enough time for TRF :( You can't do everything! Something's gotta give.
I've found it tough. I've had to give up housework since training for London.

Did my 20 mile race today. My watch time was 2.49.29. It was a lovely day, beautiful clean, crisp weather and the countryside was fab. Only downside was that it was three loops of the same course. It was a bit disheartening seeing the 3, 8 and 14 mile markers in a row
Nevermind it was a great day out and has left me very confident for the marathon.

QUOTE (Territorial_Game @ Mar 4 2010, 01:22 AM) Just registered for my first 5k. It's on April 10, and I haven't done any 3-mile runs since high school... Should be interesting How long ago was High School?
Good luck. 6 weeks should give you enough time to get some training in.

Tapering?
18.4 today and a 20 mile race next Sunday.
I aim to do one 25 mile run start of April and then start lowering my mileage so as to not knacker myself before the marathon. Fingers crossed it should work.
It's great to be in a regular routine. Sucks major ass when you have to break from it though.
Happy running

QUOTE (iluvgeddy05 @ Feb 21 2010, 04:38 PM) 8 today. phew! That's better. Getting those long runs in feels great doesn't it?
16 miles this morning.
I have another Sunday where I'll increase it to 17 and then a fortnight today I have a 20 mile race. From then on I'll increase by one mile until I get to about 24 and then start to taper back before the marathon.
Getting quite excited now

Snow sucks!
Good luck with the new job!

QUOTE (rummut71 @ Feb 14 2010, 05:56 PM) You guys who are running 30+ miles a week should be chowing down... A 2,000 calorie burn run should have you eating mounds of pasta like mad! Feed your body if it is hongry! I'm eating like mad at the moment. It's great.
I used up 2,068 calories on my 15 mile run this morning.
Everything I eat just gets burnt up straight away.

Just entered a 20 mile race at the start of March and a half marathon and the end. Training is beginning to intensify now.
I used up 1,950 calories in my 14 mile run this morning. I'm always hungry now
QUOTE I did 12 this morning with the new group (I moved 3 hours away from my old group this week). Wow, they pick some challenging routes! That's great!
Any races lined up?

QUOTE (Janie @ Jan 29 2010, 06:03 PM) QUOTE (GhostGirl @ Jan 28 2010, 08:41 PM) I ran again on Wednesday, and will tomorrow...
I'm tentatively feeling good about it all. :)I had to take time off from running when I was pregnant with Connor and when I went back, I felt like Frankenstein trying to run! Give yourself some time, you'll find a good rhythm pretty quickly. Just do what feels right. Don't take things too fast or you'll injure yourself. No harm in taking your time.
I'm back to running with the jogging stroller. I don't mind it. My gait is different but the whole point is just getting outdoors in the fresh air and getting a little exercise in. I'm also back to running races but with a jogging stroller, I'm limited to 5k's only because of the stroller. It's kind of cool because people cheer me on way more than the average runner. All along the courses I hear, "GO MAMA!" It's so awesome. :) Plus, my kids LOVE crossing the finish line!
Go Mama! :rfl:
13 this morning, 20 for the weekend. :7up:

QUOTE Good luck on your marathon, plodder! Thanks
QUOTE I'm FINALLY moving out of my area to where my fiance is and where we are building our house. I found a running group out there and have been on their listserv for a while. Not many group runs get posted but there was one for this weekend so I ended up joining them. Ran 8 miles and we all went to breakfast after! Had a great time.
Might run a half marathon in April...we'll see smile.gifThat's great. Once you do a half marathon the only way is up
QUOTE My knee is a lot better. I took it easy this morning and got in five miles. trink39.gif That's great news.
My wife is just getting back to running after 15 months out. It's great to have her back running with me again

Hooray! All the snow has gone.
Did a 5k race this morning, not my best time but I haven't been able to go out much since the new year.
We did a 10 mile run/walk/inch along a bit/run/slip/run last Sunday, how much good that did I don't know. At least it got us out.
11 miles tomorrow.
I'm adding a mile every Sunday to my long runs, hopefully ending at 23 miles two weeks before the marathon.
Please NO MORE SNOW!!!!!
Happy running everyone
-
Quite a good week for me.
8 miles Sunday
5 miles Monday
7 miles Wednesday
7 miles Friday
It's nice to get back into a routine.
Happy New Year to all the runners. Here's hoping for a healthy, injury free 2010!

QUOTE (troutman @ Dec 26 2009, 03:32 AM) QUOTE (plodder @ Dec 25 2009, 04:44 AM) Went out for my Christmas Day run. Very tricky conditions so I kinda ran 80% and teetered/minced/walked the rest At least some of my calories have move to the minus column.
Happy runningYeah, I have had plenty of days like that. I was able to get in 5 miles earlier. The condtions were perfect.
Luckily conditions improved dramatically over the last fw days and I managed to get an eight miler under my belt. There were still some stretches where I had to run on the very edge of the path where the ice was thinnest but at least I managed to run all the way around.
Happy running!
