  1. Here is a video of me playing Afterimage. You can't see the chords I am playing. I am only posting to have anyone interested listen and if they think it sounds like I am playing it properly, I can help with chords and such......

The camera is fixed and I don't have any shots when the chorus parts come in (I feel the way you would.....)

    Hope you like it.

  2. Hey, The video for Tom Sawyer is mine. Hope you like it.

Your videos are really helpful and awesome! Do you have a tab to afterimage? I keep watching your video, but can't seem to fully get it right..

Thank you for the kind words. I do not have the tab for Afterimage. I just learned it by ear. I could probably write down the chords I am playing

  3. Hey, The video for Tom Sawyer is mine. Hope you like it.

I thought it was! I'll add you on YouTube. You actually helped me learn all the parts to Ton Sawyer o thank you!

Thank you. In the video, I play "fake" Taurus pedals (Roland PK-5) for the low growl, but that is actually MIDI'd to my Korg DW8000 which replicates that sound.

  4. Welcome Dreamrafa. I am also in a Rush tribute band. you can watch our videos at www.youtube.com/distantsignalspgh

You are so right Animate..... Nobody cares to visit or comment about videos. This stuff isn't easy to play and I think we do a damn good job.

    We appreciate your support :)

Hey! I have seen your videos RUSH-2112, I am one of your youtube subscribers! Although, I guess it really isn't all that surprising seeing as how this IS a Rush forum and all that...

Yeah, covers don't get a lot of attention, but they ARE competing for views against threads about "National Master(somethingsomethingsomething) Day" and such- Go figure?

Thanks again Animate. We truly do appreciate any and all support from die hard Rush fans like yourself

  6. Anyone using an iPad with a keybaord controller? I donwloaded a cool keybaord app called Sunrizer from Beep Street.

I need to get a keyboard controller and an iPad connector so I can play this keyboard app.

Anyone have any experience using an iPad with a keyboard?

  7. We have a show this Saturday. Will most likely be getting some more video and posting them soon.

What do you want to see/hear from this list?

Natural Science, Countdown, Vital Signs, Red Barchetta, Digital Man, New World Man, Far Cry, Working Man, Entre Nous, Between The Wheels, The Enemy Within, Animate, Cinderalla Man, YYZ, Dreamline, Closer to the Heart, Bravado, Making Memories

  8. The intro to Red Sector A is done with an arpeggiator (built into some keyboards). You can set the arpeggiator to a single note, octacte mode (which jumps from the key your on, then up 1 octave, then back to the orignal key). Or you can set it to multi octave and it will jump the entire range of the keyboard, then back down down. See some examples of how the arpeggiator works on the keyboard I use, which is a Korg DW8000

  9. The PK-5 pedals are great. I have them and use them in my Rush band. Cygnus did alot more extensive work trying to incorporate the keys/samples into a live setting. Very cool indeed, but too much techy stuff for me to utilize.

Since I am the sole keyboard player in the band, I create alot of stuff "on the fly" Like the syncopated stuff from Spirit of Radio and the ending piano part are all done live and in time with whatever tempo the band has set.

The pedals become especially useful on Jacobs Ladder during the middle keyboard solo'ing. I midi my pedals to a Korg DW8000 that has a good low "moogy bass pedal" type sound to fill out the bottom end (since there is no actual bass being played) while I add some layered strings/pad sounds along with the "saw tooth" type sounding lead.

For more complex and authentic type sounds, I trigger a sampler with my hands to get those quirky sounds like the car screeching off in Red Barchetta, the "chime" sound in Witch Hunt, the intro driven sequenced key parts for Vital Signs, etc....

Our new bass player has the PK-5 pedals as well, so we'll try to incorporate more samples/patterns to trigger from his pedals.

It's all fun stuff and I definitely have to be on top of things for everything to come out smoothly.

    Have fun and enjoy!!!!

  10. Yes, his real hair. LOL He does resemeble a miniature geddy in a way. Vocally, he has the range which is rare to hear.

Thanks for the compliments about Jacobs Ladder. That is one of the toughest songs with all the time signature changes and we do that one very well.

Again, thank you for taking the time to watch AND to actually reply with comments.

  11. Thanks again. This show was a short one for us, so we only had time to perform 1 set.

What's missing from the 2nd set you ask?

Natural Science, Countdown, The Camera Eye, Vital Signs, Red Barchetta, Digital Man, New World Man, Far Cry, Working Man, Entre Nous, Between The Wheels, La Villa Strangiato, The Enemy Within, Ghost of a Chance, Animate, Cinderalla Man, YYZ, Dreamline, Closer to the Heartm, Bravado, Making Memories

I am the goofy looking guy on keyboards (and acoustic guitar). :)

  12. Very cool! I will definitely be checking all these out!

Really love that you covered In the End, you need to finish the whole song though!

We used the acoustic version of In the End as a medley intro which went into Fly by Night/In the Mood.

We'll probably scratch that idea and do In the End into Making Memories

    Thanks for watching

  13. Would it be possible to create a section for people to post videos or discuss Rush Tributes bands?

I posted videos in "Making Modern Music" and it seems people read the threads but don't respond.

Maybe if we had our own section it might be better???

Just a thought. I would be interested in seeing it and would definitely use it to promote my Rush Tribute band :)
