  2. QUOTE (rushnmike @ Jun 12 2012, 01:36 PM) Has anyone gone to best buy today and notice weather Or not they have CA on vinyl in store? Best Buy has it listed online on their website for $29.99. Pretty sure you'd have to order it, no Best Buy in their right mind would keep vinyl stocked in their store. Because of the low volume of vinyl sales, it's a waste of shelf space.
  3. QUOTE (EmotionDetector @ Jun 11 2012, 04:31 PM) You know what they say...like Stepdad, like son! Beat me to it.

    Album Sales

QUOTE (vols1118 @ Jun 12 2012, 10:56 AM) How many album sales do you think Rush will get with Clockwork Angels? Do you think it will become Gold or even Platinum? I'm thinking triple platinum on this one.
  5. QUOTE (FeelingUnlimited @ Jun 12 2012, 01:16 PM) iTunes mixed up the track names on Halo Effect and Carnies. So Halo Effect is listed as track 5, but when you play it, it's Carnies. And vice versa. This will surely confuse some more casual fans. But of course, if they bought the CD, it would NOT be mixed up. CD > iTunes
  6. QUOTE (Rushman14 @ Jun 12 2012, 01:14 PM) everyone on itunes is giving it 5 stars except one tool gave it a single star and said "they should stop". Probably Gemini Rising.
  7. I am PROUD to own this album! Jamming to it for the first time now!!!!
  8. QUOTE (EmotionDetector @ Jun 12 2012, 09:21 AM) Depends on who you ask. Many here disliked S&A, and loved VT. Others disliked VT, but loved S&A. For me, yeah...I love S&A, and I'm loving CA...so yes, I certainly hope to see a third album coming up (and hopefully sooner than 5 years).
  9. QUOTE (danielmclark @ Jun 10 2012, 07:13 PM) Oh good, look who's back. And what a shock, he doesn't like the new album Yeah, really. I was wondering when he would come around and start trolling again. But to answer the question....for me, none. But for you, it sounds like you'd rather pee ON the album as much as you would like to pee DURING it's playing. Hey, there's a weird fetish in there somewhere....
  10. Got mine at Best Buy ($9.99!) just a few minutes ago, unwrapped that bad boy, and am on Clockwork Angels even as we type. Sounds great so far! A more detailed report of my reaction is forthcoming......
  11. Still waiting patiently..... ....and proud of it!
  12. QUOTE (Gedneil Alpeart @ Jun 7 2012, 03:18 PM) QUOTE (kentpilot @ Jun 7 2012, 01:51 PM) So i've been quite the lurker but this thread prompted me to get an account, hello all, My one complaint about rush is their attitude towards leaks and file sharing, Iron Maiden in 2000 were strictly against it and then in 2003 were all for it, they completely recognize it's ability to make sales. I love myself more, there is no one else more important than myself. Friday I'm gonna buy the CD because that's when the record store will get it in, then I'll get my fanpack which I ordered in early May. Then I'll go to the show September 11th and I'll buy a shirt. I don't care if I downloaded it, I paid for it. I downloaded it, and seeded it. I hope someone who isn't a huge rush fan who never planned on buying it downloads it and goes wow this is f***ing good and becomes a bigger fan, buys merch goes to shows and maybe buys the awesome album. That happens quite a bit. Source: I was one of those people. For some, it's more about principle than practicality. I just love these arguments: "I did it because everyone else is doing it" or "I felt nothing wrong in doing it" or "I'm just spreding the awesomeness that is Rush." Rush and their management have in the past specifically asked that you not do this. They have not changed their position. There is a reason why TRF staff did not allow download links to be posted. It couldn't be more clear what the position OUGHT to be here.
  13. QUOTE (trenken @ Jun 7 2012, 02:41 PM) QUOTE (Just an Escape Artist @ Jun 6 2012, 10:30 PM) Now that someone has taken it upon themselves to leak the new Rush album against the wishes of the band that we all say we love, I wonder how we all feel about ourselves knowing that we are ripping off our favorite band. I see all these threads about how great the album is or "the official whatever" thread, and i am thinking, wait a minute, the album is not out yet. I am sure many of you will rationalze that you will purchase later. Maybe so, but many won't, that is a fact, so the band we love is getting ripped off. We now have about a million threads about the new album that Rush has not released the album yet. Rush did not intend for anyone to hear it until it is released next week. Rush has stated thier distaste for this since VT was leaked, but here we are again pissing on the band the band once again. Does this not bother anyones concience, or do we all just care about ourselves? Just a thought as I wait "Lit up in anticipation" for June 12 Let the flaming begin FYI, the band makes very little money off of album sales. You're really only stealing from the record company, and really, who cares about them? This band doesnt even sell a lot of albums anyway, and didnt for years before the internet even came along. Rush makes their money off of touring, so I dont feel bad for 1 second downloading it. Typical laughable response.....
  14. QUOTE (Tony R @ Jun 7 2012, 02:44 PM) QUOTE (Jaminbenb @ Jun 7 2012, 07:34 PM) I downloaded it on Monday, and my fanpack came today, I don't give a ratzass what anyone thinks! If it's THERE I'm going to go GET IT! Stop judging people already and get a freaking life fer krissake! Hopefully you'll be equally non-judgemental if someone steals your pocket money
  15. QUOTE (goose @ Jun 7 2012, 10:10 AM) QUOTE (Rush Cocky @ Jun 6 2012, 10:03 AM) QUOTE (trenken @ Jun 6 2012, 10:58 AM) They're old dude. They have other crap going on in their lives. They arent 25 anymore when everything they did revolved around the band. The band is now just 1 part of their lives, which is probably why the writing is not as good as it once was. And anyone who says 60 is not old must be 60 themselves, because it is old. We all have other crap going on in our lives, doesn't mean we quit our jobs because of that "crap". Especially when you love what you do. But creativity wanes for most as we age. There's a reason Grandma Moses is so revered in the art world. Few reach their artisitic/creative peak at an advanced age. I am more creative now than I was 20 years ago. I have no explanation for that. Maybe that's the perspective I'm coming from, like a fine wine, we all get better with age.
  16. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Jun 7 2012, 11:11 AM) People have complained about how Rush have done things forever. I've done it plenty - wishing they released albums more than every 5 years instead of endless touring, taking apart their music bit by bit and over-analyzing everything, etc. Some decisions of theirs I really agree with, and others I really don't. That's the thing though. Rush doesn't care. They do things their own way, whether any given fan likes it or not. They don't cater to how I or how anyone wants them to do things or thinks they should do things. That's how it should be. Similarly, if I decide to grab a copy of the album a week early because I can, knowing full well 150% that I'm buying the CD the day it's released anyway, why should anyone care how I do things? You can say yes but it's still wrong, that's not how Rush wants it done! So? They don't respect my personal wishes and I don't respect theirs. I apologize if I'm too big a fan of their music to resist. Stick a big piece of chocolate cake in front of your eyes and don't take a bite if that's your choice. Some of us aren't as strong. If they really didn't want it downloaded a week early, they shouldn't have licensed it to Classic Rock magazine knowing they'd be arriving at people's doors a week early because they knew full well the second it was in anyone's hands it would be all over the internet. It was a miracle they kept the album under wraps as long as they did. And even if they did manage to prevent a leak until the day it was released, that still wouldn't stop the people who would only download it and not buy it. I'm not in that category. I'm buying it ASAP Tuesday morning. Seriously, what's the BFD? If you want to deprive yourself for the sake of morality and wait till June 12th, go for it - totally valid point of view. Some of us can't wait. In the end we're really big fans who can't contain our enthusiasm. Is that really that bad a thing? Is that really a bad thing for Rush that it has such wildly enthusiastic fans who would chance a download because they can't wait to hear their new music? Call it rationalizing and justifying or whatever if you must, but I'm telling you, no one who's downloaded it and who's been enjoying the hell out of the new album for days is going to feel bad about that because you've decided to deprive yourself of the new Rush album a few days longer than the rest of us. Why should we feel guilty for our enjoyment if we know in our hearts we're not ripping off the band since we're getting the CD anyway? Would that make YOU feel better since you think we're cheating somehow that at least we feel bad or guilty about it? The OP certainly thinks we should feel guilty. This has to be the most eloquent rationalization in this thread......but it IS a rationalization nonetheless. Ask yourself: If you were busted for downloading the album before you had legitimately paid for the artist's work, and you were in a court of law and offered to the judge "well I was gonna pay for it next week"....do you honestly believe you would get a "not guilty" verdict based on your intentions? Deep down we all know we shouldn't get the album without paying for it, but many of us do it anyway. We just don't believe that we're going to get caught because it's the Internet, they can't find me, Rush doesn't care, etc. I don't think the OP intended a "guilt trip" for anyone....he's just calling attention to the fact of what people have openly admitted on this board to doing, regardless of the justification given. And personally I think it's pretty sad that matters of simple morality are open for debate....self-denial continues to be most underrated and undervalued.
  17. QUOTE (Lerxster @ Jun 7 2012, 09:50 AM) You may not realize the fanpacks have been shipping for a week now, and hundreds of folks got their album early.. legitimately. And they are posting here too. Your thread is rendered moot by that fact alone. Your timing sucks. Not to mention.. well, I'll leave it at that. We all realize that, but it doesn't take away from the argument.....people have an entitlement mentality in this world now, and can rationalize anything to suit their own selfish desires. I'm sure if we interviewed Rush today and you asked them about people downloading the album from the Internet, we KNOW what their answer would be. NEVER would any artist say "yeah sure, get it early, because I trust the integrity of our fanbase to go out and buy it anyway". The issue here is not an album, it's an attitude.

It's also exactly why I'm waiting until I have the finished product in my hands before listening to it.

  20. QUOTE (losingit2k @ Jun 6 2012, 11:01 PM) They don't have to provide us with anything! Nonsense, Rush owes me studio album after studio album. In fact, they better be working on the next one right now. And it better not be cover tunes either!
  21. I have each of the various samples going through my head at different points now.
  22. QUOTE (Just an Escape Artist @ Jun 6 2012, 12:57 PM) That having been said, I think they should keep this schedule like it is just to piss off Rush Cocky! Heh. We'll talk later....
  23. QUOTE (Shredder2 @ Jun 6 2012, 11:46 AM) QUOTE (Rush-O-Matic @ Jun 6 2012, 07:20 AM) Too short. Agreed. They didn't shine much light on Alex. I'm hoping it's a sample of a much longer video that will come out at some point.
