The story is something like these were given to Rush in the late 80's by a (now deceased) concert promoter by the name Bill Graham. I don't think these were ever sold. The guy I got this from had this given to him directly from the hands of Alex Lifeson late 80s ish.

Niiiice... I think I'd rather have yours though, man!

very cool! Great job. It's one of my favorite songs to play, and it sounds much better than my version.
-
I think I will agree with you to an extent.
I don't think Gibson makes anything terrible quality. It's still good. If you ask me I'd say PRS makes the best guitars.

QUOTE (Invisible To Telescopic Eye @ Apr 14 2011, 04:15 PM) When I first saw this threads name I thought it should have been in the tour section talking about how you pay for tickets now. Haha... Hand Over Fist, Arm and a Leg.

QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Apr 13 2011, 01:48 PM) Do those pickups have a compressed quality to them? Or are they very open sounding? Hmm. I really don't know. Maybe a little. I'll let you decide. I made a clean video running through all the pickup configs, also switching back and forth between single coil and tap mode.

QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Apr 11 2011, 01:50 PM) Did he use Signature guitars on Presto? SignatureAurora75 would probably know that.
Anyway, that sounds like a Signature guitar, which is a Strat-style guitar. It's different from a Fender-style Strat in that the pickups are active -- powered by batteries. They give a powerful, punchy, hyper-clean sound with no noise. I'm guessing he's using the bridge and middle pickups together there.
And it also sounds like he's using the G-K amps, which are also hyper-clean. Or, he's going direct into the mixing board. Add a little compression and maybe a touch of chorus (IF he's even using chorus there) and a clean strumming pattern and there you have it.
This is the chord, for those who don't know it:
E|----10---
B|----10---
G|----9----
D|----x----
A|----x----
E|----x----I agree! Right you are. Signature guitar, active pickups by Evans, direct to the mixing board. What a lovely sound. That's as clean as it gets.

Hughes and Kettner Tri-amp. Very versatile and many different sounds. It's like 3 amps in one head (that's why they call it a tri-amp). Clean, British Overdrive, and Metal. You can't go wrong with one of those.

Cool! Great job, and great sound. I love the sound of the Ric. Is that a Badass 2 bridge you got on yours like Geds?

Here is a wonderful website where the creator is very knowledgable and explains music theory, etc. in a way that is easy for me to understand.

QUOTE (Invisible To Telescopic Eye @ Apr 4 2011, 04:18 PM) Awesome dude and where 'd ya find the Visionary? Got lucky. I was browsing through a guitars for sale ad site in Toronto. As soon as I saw that I had to swoop in.
-
Thanks guys, I appreciate it! These pickups in this Signature aren't active (2 passive Evans single coils, and 1 Seymour Duncan Parallel Axis TremBucker.) These were stock Signature pickups. That Seymour sounds good (screams, and mean and nasty too.)

Hope you enjoy:
If anyone is interested I have a Signature Odyssey for sale. It is very similar to this one here.

Do you have any videos for us to see? I would like to see your skills. Please make a video of you playing the solo on Hemipheres. That would be a good performance to guage.

QUOTE (tskidmore @ Mar 1 2011, 08:15 AM) Well I dont know about your math hooch-man, but I ordered mine (Viceroy Brown of course) yesterday. I prefer for this equation to look more like:
1 AL355 + 1 AL Axcess = 1 tskidmore
Life is short, GAS wins. Wife will get over it, especially if I sell my current LP Axcess.Did you get the signed by Alex version?

I found a great page for this if anyone is interested:

Thanks hunter I will check it out.

QUOTE (HowItIs @ Jan 16 2011, 05:13 PM)
Like most of you, it will be an unattainable dream for me. The last time I bought a LP it was stolen - a 50th Anniversary edition, too!
Hey HowItIs what happened with the guitar? Tell the story. That sucks, so did you buy it and the previous owner called the cops? Did you have to return it?

I would upgrade if you have a predecessor. However, I haven't ever messed with Gear Box. I am impressed with Pod farm and the many different types of equipment they have. There is so much you can do with the guitar and bass amps, pre-amps, cabs, distortion, dynamics, mods, delays, filters, reverbs, wahs, and EQ. A whole bunch of different equipment. However, if you want more equipment and effects you have to pay Line 6. There are hundreds of different patches of different guitarists. As I mentioned above, Alex has about 7 or 8... Right now I'm just using Audacity to record (seems easy enough). My Line 6 UX2 came with Ableton Live to record with (I havent tried it yet). Man I'm tellin ya, I've been playing The Camera Eye with this Pod farm, and the tone is like dead on. I'm sure there's a way to capture the GUP tone with Pod Farm, but my ear isn't very trained and experienced to capture it yet. Hopefully someone has made some good Alex patches they can send over.
-
Can it be done? Anyone here use Pod Farm? It's way cool. It seems to nail a lot of tones of different guitarists, with the many different types of equipment in the software.
Included with Pod Farm are patches of The Camera Eye, Freewill, Tom Sawyer, Limelight, Red Barchetta, Working Man, Spirit of Radio, 2112, Anthem, Passage to Bangkok.
I only wish they included tones from the middle latter 80's Alex Lifeson. Anyone here like to chase tones and/or use pod farm? I really want that GUP sound.

Can we PLEASE stop with the threads complaining about ticket prices? Can you please get off your computer instead of complaining about repetitive threads? I do believe people have a right to post and talk here. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean everyone else has to comply with your wishes.
It's not like anyone is forcing you to read this stuff. STFU

QUOTE (jacob's ladder @ Dec 9 2010, 08:34 PM) Before I get flamed, let me just lay out some facts. Rush is my favourite band & probably always will be. But these ticket prices are absolutely out of control. For instance, I live near NYC & I am particular about seating when I go to concerts, so if I was to attend the MSG concert in April it would be-
$200 per tix
$25 train ride
$0 for cab , I'd walk from GCS
$20 for beer at the garden (hey I don't make these prices!!!)
$10 random food
Grand total- $255 bucks. Granted, this is a low estimate, as I would no doubt encounter more charges along the way. Who the hell can afford this???Yeah thank the f***ing scalpers and everyone else like ticketmaster (probably other people too) that leach all this money off of Rush's sales.
I wouldn't blame you at all for not going. I know I won't be going, but I'd like to.
i'm not saying it's not awesome looking..

***BUYER BEWARE***
I call bull $hit!! Whoever bids on that thing, if any, is taking a serious SERIOUS risk!!
As someone pointed out before.. His low feedback and what little feedback he has on the same day stinks of scammer.
As others have said, that price is not even close to value what the guitar is actually worth. It's a parts guitar probably thrown together from whatever he had lying around. However, covered up neatly I might add.
But, people pay crazy prices for guitars, just look at Gibson and Lifeson laughing all the way to the bank for their insanely over priced Les Pauls!
Someone could buy a cheap guitar and get all this $hit done with a good artist/airbrusher for a low fraction of the price he's askin.
I would love to see the picture of Alex being presented the other guitar. I would bet it don't exist!
