Heard a Kansas tune on the radio today and thought this would make a good topic for Rush fans. I have always considered them one of my favorite bands. I have seen them in concert about 10 times, always an amazing musical show!
Anyone (young fans especially) who have never heard this group, please check them out. Great, great vocals, musicianship and song writting.
Forgot how much this band influenced my music career. A true inspiration! new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

I think the band is awesome. Their CD box set is something worth owning. When my wife and I were first dating we went to go see them at some Sun Tan Jam thing. I was so blown away by their performance. These guys kicked ass. Their lead singer was astounding. He had so much energy, and never stopped moving for a moment. They played so tight, and like Launch said, their musicianship was out of control.

I kept saying that these guys belonged in an arena. A great show.

    Great posting. goodpost.gif

    Ok...here is my set up.

    I know it's rather basic.

1965 Slingerland It was my Father's drum set.

The best sounding kit i've ever played.

Here's a thing that most drummers don't know....The more you play your drums, the better they sound. It's the process as acoustic guitars. It's called aging....The wood settles due to the vibrations & the sound becomes sweeter (which is why many players love their old kits). That is one hell of a kit Psykotik.....It's worth $$$ too. '65 Slingerland....Those were kit (like the Gretsch & Ludwigs too!!).....I don't like the newer Slingerlands northe Ludwigs but the Gretsch's aren't half bad (since Gretsch is owned by Kaman Music-the company that owns 90% of the hand percussion manufacturer's etc...)

    I love DW....I didn't think I would since I didn't like Neil's HYF-CP Ludwig kit. But I worked at a music retailer & fell in love with them....Especially the Edge snare.... wub.gif

The Cymbal on the far right(stage left) is an original Instabul K

complete with rivets. I love the sizzle sound.

the HighHats are some of the first American Zildjians

Everything else is Zildjian. Only the best.(Paragons aside)

  5. Rush was in a bathtub with Dream Theater and Mike Portnoy farted. Geddy loudly exclaimed, "Wheres My Thing!?!". "It is in Alex's double neck Gibson, which is not the greatest place to find a gigantic wildebeast. Neil said fear the snow dogs or they will kill your family, then outa nowhere came Kurt Cobain shooting heroin in the face. "Ow!"

Neil ran screaming, grabbed his drumsticks and his helmet, whipped out his giant spaghetti noodle, and sped out of the studio to go find Terry Brown's apartment. "Oh my gosh! I forgot my...motorcycle keys and my newest lyrics.
