  1. This is what a slavish mind-controlled Hemipsheres lover sounds like. They have no will of their own. Also reminds me of what CA fans sound like. don't know if you are one......but they soound similar Mick It's a very good album. Sold 8 at least. I don't go "ga ga" over it though. About on part with Counterparts. I give it a seven. Used to be a nine. It is a little over generous for me to give it a seven... I would give it an A (i.e. Good/Very Good) using the same scale I used for Presto/Hems the second time around. That rating technique is more irritating than one of my "EAT MY POO" posts. I guess I missed a post.

Also reminds me of what CA fans sound like. don't know if you are one......but they soound similar Mick It's a very good album. Solid 8 at least. I don't go "ga ga" over it though. About on par with Counterparts. CA is slightly stronger because it doesnt have TSOL.
  5. This is what a slavish mind-controlled Hemipsheres lover sounds like. They have no will of their own. 57-3. Read it and know the truth in thy heart, buddy boy. It's called the herd instinct...you sheep.. Wait, I voted "yes"... :baabaa:
  6. Nobody's Hero...what an embarrasing opening line...(rest is good) ...Stick It Out...eew... I love the rest. Nobody's Hero is pretty damn good. I don't care about the opening line...it's fine...Rush is "cheese". Stick It Out is ok. It kind of drones on too much though. I would still take it over Superconductor though. The one track I really don't like is the one I don't have that requires too many neurons for me too understand.
  7. I think it's great. Except for that one track...

  9. Countertarts? Sorry CP. tee hee Mick Countertarts would've at least tasted better. http://foodbabbles.files.wordpress.com/2011/04/fruit-tart-5.jpg
  10. Anyone who likes Hemispheres is a weak-minded fool.
  11. Countertarts?
  12. So does Tom Waits. :outtahere: :P Mick :P Gotta be said...Hems is not a patch on any of Kansas or Yes' studio releases of the seventies. People like Hemispheres so much because it's full of loud bombast and it's instrumental gymnastics are overt and easy to identify....it's very in your face and bludgeons you over and over again telling you "LIKE ME, LIKE ME!" until they give in and feel they have to. Hemipsheres succeeds at brainwashing people with it's bluntness. Presto is more exploratory and restrained. It doesn't try to overpower but challenges you to discover it's subtle qualities, it tries to slowly draw you in and succumb you. It's layers have to be unveiled by the listener. It's a deeply thematic work of rich symbolism and artful musicianship. It doesn't care if you like it or not. It's purpose is to mystify you. Can i be the vice ambassador of Presto? Like if someone assasinated you (Segue Myles) i could (will) be your immediate (might as well give me the papers now) successor. Death threats are not tolerated around here. I'm going to report you to our moderator (if he ever shows up). I'm sure it will be too late by then but I'm glad you laid out all the evidence here.
  13. Presto is a musical IQ test and most people who listen to it score "below average" :P

  15. The thing about Presto is that evokes feelings and a sense of scenery with the use of striking visual metaphors to give a fleeting sense of time and space. It's almost like how Moving Pictures created these "cinematic" settings with each song but with Presto it's done more subtly and indirectly to give a sense of something. I had a dream of a winter garden A midnight rendezvous Silver, blue and frozen silence What a fool I was for you
  16. I made a passing comment somewhere once about Anagram being about the death of Romanticism. Maybe I'll analyze that a little more closely.
  17. Anagram gets criticised. Hems has a song about bickering trees. Read into it as much as you want, Neil has said himself the song has no hidden meaning. I am certain Angram does. There is a lot of religious overtones in that one. May be one of Neil's attempts at attacking religion in a cryptic way before he got all literal with it.
  18. Completely completely disagree A lot of love went into Presto The Pass, Available Light and Presto have nore heart than a song about the brain. And Chain Lightning too and even Scars...many of these songs have some of Neil's best lyrical "poetry" even Hand Over First has it's great moments How can we ever agree? Like the rest of the world We grow farther apart I swear you don't listen to me Holding my hand to my heart Holding my fist to my racing heart Take a walk outside myself In some exotic land Greet a passing stranger Feel the strength in his hand Feel the world expand
  19. Presto easily destroys Hemispheres lyrically And I mean real easily
  20. Completely completely disagree A lot of love went into Presto
  21. You cant give something a "10+" You must lower your other ratings
  22. Shit/sh*t.... You rate Presto higher than me... You're wrong... I love it a lot. Like as in: LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS I messed up. Here's my real ratings...I insist on being the Presto "ambassador" Show Don't Tell - 9 Chain Lightning - 10 The Pass - 10 War Paint - 8 Scars - 9 Presto - 10 Superconductor - 1 Anagram (for Mongo) - 8 Red Tide - 10 Hand Over Fist - 8 Available Light - 10 This is based on a different scale
  23. Shit/sh*t.... You rate Presto higher than me... You're wrong...
  24. I don't even know why I care...I must still have OCD with this shit and I guess you do too... I used to obsessively make lists of stuff all the time...ranking, rating, etc...and not just related to music - movies, video games, etc (I guess I do that here with all of those rating threads...hmmmm) I need counseling... I have OCD and am going to get counselling. But my "OCD" is what makes me good at what I do...
  25. Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres - 9.5 Cirumstances - 8.5 The Trees - 9.5 La Villa Strangiato - 10 Show Don't Tell - 8.5 Chain Lightning - 9.0 The Pass - 9.0 War Paint - 7.5 Scars - 8.5 Presto - 10 Superconductor - 6.0 Anagram (for Mongo) - 8.0 Red Tide - 9.0 Hand Over Fist - 8.0 Available Light - 9.5 But do the numbers tell the whole story?
