this sounds like a good idea..if this is an invitaion to everybody, then i'd love to join!!  biggrin.gif

Oh definitely! Love to have ya there! And your avatar has inspired me HS007! Look for the HLIIA thread in a few minutes!

  2. Haven't missed many episodes since it started! Need to pick up the first 2 seasons on dvd soon. The wife and I love it! new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

And this seasons' plot twists have basically re-invented the show and brought it back to kinda how it was in the 1st season, don't you think? I like it!! But I still don't trust Sloan! mad.gif

  3. That's very interesting, I don't know though. Personally, I have a problem when a manufacturer releases something that is "sub-standard" as compared to the current technology. A more compressed version of a movie? Why would I want that??!! I know, I know, it's the kids with the iPods that will, I know, but for me, it's like all you traders out there and your boots in lossless format, and now they want to sell you mp3s! Just my feeble attempt at an analogy! ohmy.gif But you get the idea. I felt the same way with the new "no return" rental discs, the ones that self-destruct in 48 hours after exposed to air. You're making something that destroys itself... something there that I don't like. But that's just me!

Anyway, keep us updated on that Jack, I'm always interested in stuff like this!

  4. There's still plenty of good meat. Look at that arm.

It's not just the leg, sir.

    What do you mean?

    Well, sir...it's just that -

Why don't you want to eat me?

    I'd rather eat Johnson, sir!

    So would I, sir.

    I see.

Well that's settled then...everyone's gonna eat me!

    charles?

    yes?

    it's mummy!

    looks at camera

    oh hello mummy!

no charles, it's mummy..she's turned into a scotsman!

    carolynn

Oh how horrible... Will they stop at nothing?

I don't know - do you think they will?

    I meant that rhetorically.

    What does rhetorically mean?

It means, I didn't expect an answer.

Oh I see. Oh, you're so clever, Charles.

    (camera zooms in)

    How long has it been?

Thirty-three days, sir. We haven't had any food since the fifth day....

Listen...chaps...there's still a chance. I'm...done for, I've...got a gamy leg and I'm going fast; I'll never get through. But...some of you might. So...you'd better eat me.

  7. Here's a multiple choice:

Which of the following titles was NOT an alternative suggested title for the show?

    A)Aurthur Megapode's Cheap Show

B)Bunn, Wackett, Buzzard, Stubble and Boot

    C)The Full Moon Show

    D)A Horse, A Spoon, and A Basin

    E)Myrtle Buzzard's Flying Circus

F)Norman St. John Polevaulter's Flying Circus

G)The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Goes to the Bathroom

H)The Sparkling Music and Stars Interview

I)The Venus De Milo Panic Show

    J)Whither Canada?

No, that's not the one I was looking for. I hope there weren't two sketches.

    Hint: Number is one digit.

In series 3, episode 3, there's a skit that's "The Elizebeth I drama, but with speech impediments"... is that it? At the begining of this skit, it shows a superimposed caption that reads:

    'ERIZABETH L'

    'EPISODE THREE'

    'THE ALMALDA'

    Is that it, maybe?

ohmy.gif did John really leave early?! why??

    carolynn

It was between series 3 and 4. I'll transcribe a short passage from my 2001 edition of the Monty Python Encyclopedia:

"The time had finally come for John Cleese to have the courage of his convictions and leave Monty Python, finally totally fed up with 'being told to turn up at 8am on Monday morning at Wakefiels railway station, dressed as a penguin'. He had been very unhappy doing series 3, got bored with the format during series 2 and even as early as midway through series 1 experimented with breaking up the writting formats to dispel the familiarity of comedy. So, it was a long time coming, but eventually with the proposed series4 Cleese opted out of any more television Monty Python."

    And from another part...

"The first to leave Python, although he always returned for the film reunions, Cleese enjoyed the biggest success of the team with the seminal situation comedy Fawlty Towers."

  10. Still no sign of land. How long is it?

That's a rather personal question, sir.

You stupid git. I meant how long has it been in the lifeboat? You've destroyed the atmosphere now.

    I'm sorry.

    Shut up. Start again.

  11. I picked up Logan's Run off the 3.99 discount bin, remembering how much I liked it in the theater when it came out! Wow... did I just waste 3.99 or what... how did I ever think this was good!! I guess it was good, for the time, but man, has time changed... at least for me anyway! laugh.gif

    DINSDALE!!!!!

Interviewer: But the police have film of Dinsdale actually nailing your head to the floor.

Stig: (pause) Oh yeah, he did that.

    Interviewer: Why?

Stig: Well he had to, didn't he? I mean there was nothing else he could do, be fair. I had transgressed the unwritten law.

    Interviewer: What had you done?

Stig: Er... well he didn't tell me that, but he gave me his word that it was the case, and that's good enough for me with old Dinsy. I mean, he didn't *want* to nail my head to the floor. I had to insist. He wanted to let me off. He'd do anything for you, Dinsdale would.

I understand he also nailed your wife's head to the coffee table. Isn't that right, Mrs. O'Tracy?

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Well he did do that, yeah. He was a hard man. Vicious, but fair. laugh.gif

Interviewer: "Did it worry you that he, for example, stitched people's legs together?"

Gloria: "Well it's better than bottling it up isn't it. He was a gentleman, Dinsdale, and what's more he knew how to treat a female impersonator."

    I panicked.

    Perhaps it's from the zoo.

If it came from the zoo, it would have "property of zoo" stamped on it!

They don't stamp animals "property of the zoo"!! You can't stamp a huge lion!!
