  1. Yeah Andy Summers is the old man of rock. Only Paul and Ringo are older, apart from jazz guys, old blues guys and 50's rock n rollers. Andy is older than Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Ray Davies, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton. Even Hank Marvin and John McLaughlin are only 1 year older and Hank's been a recording artist since 1958!

Charlie Watts is older than all of them, he'll be 79 in two weeks.

  2. It’s honestly kinda disgraceful that crappy pop stars were directly associated with the awesomeness of Geddy.

I'll bet Geddy was thinking of the charitable cause as the main thing, it was nice of so many Canadian artists to appear. But yeah, we all know there is the Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson etc tier of artists and then there are others.

Geddy is a good sport! And I'm not gonna lie, seeing him sing again did something nice for my heart.

For the record, this album was produced by the late Felix Pappalardi, who also produced Cream, Mountain, and Hot Tuna.

Here we go again. I'll tell you what you do the next poll and meanwhile I'll find a bunch of albums that you don't put in and post videos in the thread instead. :bang bang:

Be nice! Your thing is polls, RFF's thing is tangential trivia. It's fun!

  4. So many! Never mind picking a favourite, I wouldn't be able to do it, but Homeward Bound is the very first song that I have a distinct conscious memory of hearing. I was 4 or 5 and it's one of the few things I can think of that makes me actually remember the feeling of having an experience as a small child.
  5. Meanwhile, Bachman beats Clapton in

Randy Bachman mentioned in an interview that he's perceived as the Canadian Eric Clapton.

They're both guitar legends who've played in multiple successful bands with solo careers.

Mind you, when I listen to 'Wonderful Tonight' and 'These Eyes' by The Guess Who; both Clapton and Bachman wrote them with the same subject matter in mind. They were both feeling frustrated with waiting awhile for their significant other to get ready, from interviews noted.

I've really been enjoying your trivia tangents lately, RushFanForever.

Meanwhile, in my opinion, Bachman beats Clapton on songs about this subject matter.

Agreed. These Eyes is a stone cold classic. Wonderful Tonight is just alright.

    Wonderful Tonight bores me silly.

But then, I'll take Randy Bachman over Eric Clapton any time Clapton didn't have Ginger Baker playing behind him.

  7. I know, from radio play, BTO so I can name a few songs from them.

    I couldn't name a single REO.

Are you sure you don't have them reversed? Commercially (including radio/airplay) REO was a much larger success, both in overall album sales and singles for the same duration of time in the 70s.

That said, BTO would be considered more in line with classic rock and REO by today's standards would be leaning more towards soft rock, at least several of their biggest hits. So depending on what radio station you were listening and in what era, you may have rarely heard one or the other band. In the 1980s they were still being lumped together on most rock radio stations, but at some point I seem to recall hearing REO on easy listening (soft rock) stations as well and overall I don't hear REO that very often anymore because if I listen to music of that era streaming it's usually more geared toward "classic" rock. Also, BTO are southern rock so that's another way in which you could be more familiar with them [Lynyrd Skynyrd, 38 Special, Allman Bros, etc]

Since when is BTO southern rock?

  8. I've been transcribing the Rush footage from 2007 that was shot for my film so I can put the full interview on Amazon Prime, and I feel such grief every time they talk about Neil because it strikes me anew how much they must miss him.
