  1. Dear Double Shifts at Work and No Days Off,

You two are kicking my ass.

I don't like working from 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., and then from 4 p.m. to midnight almost every day. Plus, I may not get a full day off until mid July.

A heart attack might be the only way out of this.

    f**k this shit,

    TB

Finally, Big10 basketaball would be relavent again.

Big Ten got 7 in the Dance last year; how is that irrelevant? confused13.gif

And poor Baylor......where would they end up? Would the SEC feel obligated to pick them up? Maybe them and Houston for the SEC West and Florida State and Miami for the SEC East? Talk about a tough conference to win.....geez.

The SEC already has a Baylor. It's called Vanderbilt.

The most likely SEC expansion targets are some the ACC's southernmost schools: Florida State, Miami, Georgia Tech and Clemson. Duke is a longshot choice. Georgia Tech and Tulane were original SEC schools until they left in the 1960s.

Possible targets on the SEC's western edge: Memphis, Tulane, Southern Mississippi and Houston. I would rate them way ahead of Baylor on the expansion radar.

The SEC's expansion focus would first aim at the ACC's Florida schools, but it wouldn't surprise me if the league also made a play for both Texas and Texas A&M.

OMG I remember The Sopranos ending.. I was like WTF was that?!!!

I guess they all got shot at the diner but you don't really know.

I didn't get that feeling that they were all shot.

(Left the door open for Sopranos movie.) new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

I wonder how a Sopranos movie would recall the "final scene?" It might be mentioned in a casual conversation about how Tony got lucky at the restaurant when the guy's gun locked up as he tried to fire at close range.

A Sopranos movie might also involve the trial of Tony Soprano, which would allow an unlikely person to step in and become a major player in running 'North Jersey.'

Here's what I think would be a good premise for the movie:

If you watch the last scene from the finale, you see that there are a lot of Tony's enemies in the diner with them. The last we see of Meadow in the scene, she's parked her car and is running to the diner's entrance. As Tony looks up, we hear the ding of the bell on the door, which I take to mean that Meadow has just entered the diner. What I think should happen next is that one of Tony's enemies steps from the shadows, puts a gun to Meadow's head, Pulls the trigger, and looks at Tony and says something like: "That's for Johnny" and then he spits on Tony and runs out of the diner. The rest of the movie will be about the Sopranos dealing with Meadow's death and Tony and his crew going after Meadow's killer and his crew, leading to an all-out war between Tony and one of the New York families.

    I like your scenario, Jack.

Mine also involves Meadow, perhaps as a subplot in the movie.

She ditches life as a corporate attorney to become part of the crew after someone - husband Patrick, A.J. or even Carmella - is murdered by a person linked to one of the New York families or by Russian mobsters. Having already worked behind the scenes as Tony's legal adviser, she avenges the death and becomes a "made man," allowing her to get more involved. She brings to the mob her smarts (she figured out at a young age Tony was involved in more than 'waste management') and the huge Italian-American chip on her shoulder that inspired her to become an attorney.

We're coming up with good ideas for a Sopranos movie. I wonder if David Chase is surfing the internet seeing all these scenarios and thinking to himself, "Aw, f**k, someone else has come up with my idea." Then he trashes his latest script and starts over.

That, or he's taking notes! laugh.gif

I like your scenario, too! Very cool!

Whoever gets whacked in the movie should join the likes of Chris, Adrianne, Bobby, Big Pussy, Tony B., Ralphie, Gloria Trillo, Johnny Boy, Livia, Jackie Sr. and Jr., Vito, Johnny Sack, Phil Leotardo, and others in the ultimate Tony Soprano dream.

  7. I will be surprised if the call is reversed. The only other time I can remember umpire's call being overturned by a higher-up in baseball was the Pine Tar Incident. It was the American League president, not the commissioner, who overruled the umpire and ordered the game to be finished.

Selig probably will say the call was unfortunate, but it stands. Still, the Tigers should file a protest to make it official.

I read on the Detroit Free Press site where there may be video proof Gallaraga bobbled the ball while covering first. The official scorekeeper can review the video on it and change his ruling from a hit to an error. He has up to 24 hours after the end of the game in question to reverse his decision.

The scorekeeping change would give Gallaraga a no-hitter, but no perfect game. The scorekeeper doesn't have the authority to overturn an umpire's call.

I know how Jim Joyce is feeling right now. I was once a youth soccer referee, and the calls I missed stand out more than the good ones. I'm still kicking myself over one particular call I made in a game eight years ago. When you miss a call, you do you exactly what Joyce did last night. First, you keep your composure during the remainder of the game and especially when people are in your face yelling at you. After the game, you review the play in question in your head and try to remember exactly what you saw with your own eyes before you made the call. If you know you got it wrong, you admit your mistake, apologize and learn from it.

Believe me, that call will run an never-ending loop in Jim Joyce's mind the rest of his life.

Maybe they could tattoo themselves from head to toe and wear minimal clothing onstage, to show off their new ink.

And they would encourage crowd surfing and circle pits during their songs.

  9. Here's an idea for Rush's new look ...

Geddy and Alex could grow really, really long beards, and the three of them would wear dark sunglasses for that cool look. To go with the image change, they'll record radio-friendly songs and film a series of videos featuring them, three hot looking women and a car.

    Sounds like a winner, eh?

  11. Just watched the highlights of Morales' grand slam and the injury during the home plate celebration. He'll have surgery tomorrow, and it appears he may be done for the season. I hate it for him.

It's a freak thing, but it was bound to happen the way baseball players pounce on each other and pile on while celebrating.

I saw something like this happen after a state championship football game. One of the team ballboys suffered a broken arm when he was pinned at the bottom of a pile of players.

Has anyone noticed the amount of advertising ESPN is placing on the 2010 World Cup. it's like a poker game and they're going ALL IN with U2 as the theme songs.

i haven't noticed it yet but thanks for the warning. nothing that a mute button can't cure.

I've noticed the advertising. Plus, it seems ESPN has reported more soccer news on 'Sportscenter' in the past year than ever before. I wonder if it'll continue after the World Cup?

  13. Congrats on your first book, Slaine! trink39.gif

I'm still working on my first novel, though I having to come up with another working title. It appears "Hot and Bothered Cheerleaders and Schoolgirls" has been taken.
