How could "I Think I'm Going Bald" not be exhibit 1 in this discussion?

Because Dog Years was written. At least I Think I'm going Bald was blatantly written jokingly. Dog Years seems to have actually been written to be taken seriously. Also, I Think I'm going Bald is a pretty kick-ass song if you excuse the silly lyrics while Dog Years just sucks through and through.

Well specifically, one of the clips I was talking about was Jacob's Ladder from Vegas. Neil was being normal stoic Neil so that's to be expected, but Alex on the other had such an angry, disgusted expression on his face at times that he looked like he was going to punch someone. Meanwhile, Ged was the polar opposite, having fun, smiling...

Haven't you ever been so concentrated on something that you weren't smiling? Of course you've been there! We all have.

 

One of the most enjoyable things to me is playing racquetball and tennis. Without a doubt, I'm certain I'm not smiling much of the time playing either sport. But no way am I angry or would I like to punch anyone no matter what the corners of my mouth look like.

 

Come on, man. Think about it.

It is a very dark and gloomy sounding song for the most part. It just wouldn't feel right if he had a huge smile on his face throughout the whole song.

To my surprise, she actually seems to think his vocals are pretty good here.

Geddy’s 40 minute book advertisement was a bit much.

I was skeptical about this thing even before I heard that part of it was dedicated to Geddy's book.

Not called for and certainly not a way I thought a new member would be welcomed for just posting harmless antidotes about my experience with loving the same three travelers, men of Willowdale that everyone here does. Great rock musicians play by feel more than anything. Theory just allows a greater continuation and exp<b></b>ression of ideas for more complex songs.

That's interesting. Their name matches the number of chords they use. But I like them as they are. I used to be more snobby about it but now I realize some bands shouldn't change their formula too much. Look what happened with New Coke.

 

I should have said their name would have been: Am/B#m7/Dmaj9/Csus4/bizarre scale..."For those about to kinda rock....!"

 

New Coke was great until I tried it :D

New Coke turned out to be the best thing ever for the company. Pepsi was outselling them before new coke but after Coca-cola brought back Coca-cola classic, Coke has outsold Pepsi ever since.

Seeing comments, like... they were washed up years ago, Geddy's voice has sucked since this album, Neil has been phoning it in for years. Not only is it a slap to great musicians, but just plain nasty and high and mighty.

 

They had been working their craft at high intensity levels for over four decades, and still went out worth thier salt and more some. Many of you and myself included aren't the same as we were back in the day. And unless you're award winning artists or highly skilled athletes that have maintained your peak levels, I'd suggest that you keep your bashing to a bare minimum.

 

I shall now step down from the soapbox. And to those of you that get where I'm coming from, RUSH ON EH!!! #RushFamily

 

Hate to break it to you but you're not saying anything that long time members of this board haven't read a thousand times on here. You're not putting anybody in their place or getting them to rethink what they said.

 

I love Rush they will always be my favorite band. But there is no denying that Geddy's voice was shot during their last few tours. Nobody is putting down the effort they put in but there were some very obvious things that were in decline and Geddy's voice was the biggest one. Neil didn't hit the drums as hard as he used to and his drum solos which used to be a highlight became very safe and nothing special in the least. Alex, I believe was still ok during the final tour. The band still played great but there were certainly some flaws that couldn't be hidden.

 

i don't get these newcomers who think they're going to teach the rest of us a much needed lesson.

if us oldtimers have proven anything over the years, it is that we are incapable of learning any lessons. Take that, newbies!

I find it very insulting to the band that this was not posted in the "Rush" section of the forum. Some people just have no respect for the band.

My memory of the two R40 shows I saw was that Geddy sounded great, but the DVD release and now this clip he sounds ... not good.

 

I'm glad they hung it up when they did.

I would still be up for them to do another studio album.

I'd be perfectly fine with it if Rush ever toured again if Geddy were to lip sync, actually I'd prefer it.

I would love to see a movie made for The Invaders. That was definitely one of my favorite comics when I was a kid.

It looks like it could be a claymation type thing to me. I am not saying that it is. It could be real but there are so many people on the internet that go to great legnths to fool people. That video would be easy for someone that knew what they were doing to move that thing a little for each frame to give animation to it.

I will further say this: you lot know much more about Geddy's gear than I do, and I bow to your superior knowledge and discretion!

You don't really need to know that stuff to know what tone you like the best. Your ears and brain will tell you what you like.

I used to spend hours and hours making mixed tapes and now I can make a playlist with tons of songs on it in a few minutes. The thing is that I kinda miss making those mixed tapes. There is something very nostalgic about them.

I did not see this one yet but the supporting cast from the first one really sucked. His best friend would have fit right in in a movie like The Goonies, but not in a Spiderman movie.

The fault is really more on the fans who continue to buy all these anniversary editions.....

 

Truth! :ebert: Anniversary editions, the countless “Best Of” and “Greatest Hits” reissues....if people would stop buying them, then record companies would stop trying to sell them.

The Who retired in 1982.

 

.... ever since then they have been touring just to let people know that they are retired.

Not only is is a great album to listen to, it's also one of their best album covers to look at as well.

I pleasure myself to it on a regular basis.
