  1. FFs they were 70s rockstars ....you can depend on it that they were schnozzle deep in cocaine and balls deep in groupies....

    Not according to Gene Simmons.

But, if you watch this interview they definitely did some major mind altering substances. Alex is so f#cking high and Geddy isn't too far behind. Neil is pretty high too, but not like they are. :D

  2. Does anyone know if that shriek was his natural range?

I remember Geddy saying in an interview that when he first started singing he was singer in a deeper register but it did not sound good.

I like his 80's and 90's voice a lot better than the 70's one.

If that is so, that he forced himself to sing like that in the seventies, it could have contributed to the deterioration of his voice, especially in light of how often they toured.

Forcing himself to sing that high definitely hurt his vocal cords after time.
  3. I just can't wait to hear those songs that didn't make the cut for MFH!

The two instrumentals that’ll be on there DID make the cut. They’re instrumental versions of My Favourite Headache and Home on the Strange

I didn't even check the link. I was just messing around but that's even more lame.

I hear you. If they were completely new songs, they would’ve been advertised as such in the biggest fonts possible.

I have a feeling that they will be re-releasing special edition versions of all of the Rush albums soon without any vocals or instruments,

    2112 mime version

I'm all in for that if the mime kills himself in the end.

Let's hope they're not just the extended remix dance versions Home on the Strange.

I think you and Earl ought to get a place together and be roomies. :hail:

As long as he pays. Otherwise no way Jorge! :cosmo:

It's Jose - no way Jose.

I know but I'm bored with Jose so I made it Jorge. Maybe it'll be Paco next time.

Is that pronounced George or Whore-hey?

    The second

    Next up: Paco

My bosses dog's name is Paco. I don't want to associate that kind of power with Earl.

Is that the name of one of the new instumentals that they just scraped out of the bottom of the garbage bin?
  8. You know, it just dawned on me that when Rush was coming to an end it was clear that Geddy was not happy about it because he wanted to keep writing and performing with Rush, On the other hand, Alex seemed more middle of the road about it and was clearly not nearly as upset as Geddy was about it. Since Rush's end Geddy just has not really publicly shown any enthusiasm in creating new material or wanting to perform live on any level and Alex seems to constantly be finding new projects and collaborations to work on musically. It seems that Geddy's enthusiasm for creating music and performing live died with Rush while Alex just never knows what he wants. lol. I hope Geddy gets some inspiration soon and wants to do something with Alex. It would be nice to have some new material from them, even if they made an album that wasn't all that good it would be nice to have just for the sentiment.

I wouldn’t want “an album that wasn’t all that good...just for the sentiment”. Why would I want that?

    I want something good!

My sentiments lie with albums that are good.

Very true, but as a Rush fan for the past 38 years I have grown to not get my hopes up too much for a great album. I usually ended up getting disappointed. Most of their great albums were already released when I became a fan.
  9. I think Geddy has put a lot of time and energy into his book and it's promotion. The creative writing and performing will follow. He seems to be more deliberate and more of a perfectionist than Alex. I think Alex is a fly by the seat of his pants king of a guy.

Victor an MFY really demonstrated to me what either brought to Rush, song writing and spirit wise and I concluded that Rush was better than the sum of its' parts. I really hope Alex and Geddy work together and release something but I hope it's with not just another drummer but with other players (keys/multi-instrumentalist) and a vocalist - so it doesn't come off like Rush 2.0 (or 3.0 if you like).

    My point, exactly!

  11. What year was that? '77?

If so, that is a VERY infamous concert in Floyd history.

No, way later than that. It was the last tour they did in 94 for their last album without Roger waters, I just took the shirt out and it is not a chair floating through space, it is multiple chairs going through a wall on the back and says "Just Another Chair Through the Wall, OLYMPIC STADIUM MONTREAL '94"

    Here are pics.

  14. One thing that I can say about Bono is that he does genuinely seem to be a decent guy. My brother used to set up the chairs on the floor when concerts would come to the Olympic Stadium in Montreal. He told me that when Madonna was playing there that they were told beforehand not to make eye contact with Madonna, lol. However, when U2 played there, Bono was the only artist to ever go see the guys setting up the chairs when they were on a break to thank them.

I also ended up getting to see Pink Floyd there for free because they were short people to take the chairs down. So, I got a call a few hours before the show to say that I could watch the concert if I helped take the chairs down after the show. I also have a very rare shirt from the Pink Floyd show that has a picture of a chair floating through space and has the date and venue on it on the back and Pink Floyd marked on the front. A really cool shirt that might be one of a kind now.
