This and Floppy Hat are my favourite Holdsworth acoustic. There's an acoustic intro to a UK song , Nevermore, that's great too. Wish he did more acoustic pieces. Guess he was chasing that ''tone''.

That's a great example of his shorter form solos, as is this one. I would consider this a perfect guitar solo.
Another relatively succinct and incredible solo. The tone! Amazing that everyone who listens has a perfect Holdsworth solo, that differ from each other .

One of his more direct solos, its not 4 minutes long.

New Model Army - Language.Give me salt, give me sugar, give me what I crave
A way to see how the animals see
Give me a story where the good people win at the end
I want a room with a view over a world on fire
Never try to second guess the heart’s desires in disarray
But the words will give us, they’ll give us awayThe language of love will bring us love
The language of war will bring us war
The way that all the words become true
The way that all the words become true
The language of love will bring us love
The language of war will surely bring us war
We choose it, we own it, we choose it, we own itDown from the sky they were coming – in this vision of the screaming cacophony of the wild hunt – let them pass, let them go – it would be the worst trip you’ve ever had, because if there’s one thing for sure, it’s that the pursuit of happiness will drive anyone mad. So let them go, careering and screeching through the world with the heads of the guilty on spikes paraded out in front of a sea of waving flagsThe language of war will bring us war
The language of fear will bring us fear
The language of lies will bring us lies
The language of love will bring us loveAnd everything that touches anything makes a sound
Sometimes all you want to do is scream
We all had our chances and we know that we blew it
And so we live with the lie even though we see clean right through it
And in your beautiful eyes I can see the manifest forming
It’s the things that you fear the most that you’re going to make happenThe language of love will bring us love
The language of war will bring us war
The way that all the words become true
The way that all the words become true
The language of love will bring us love
The language of war will surely bring us war
We choose it, we own it, we choose it, we own it
We choose it, and we own it -
RIP Mr Weathers. Great actor. Although he was a supporting role, for the majority, he still had the ability and skill to make a major memorable impact in the scenes he did have.

That Allan plays many different variations on Devil May Take, is mindblowing to me. Still wish he did a closer version to the original cut.

New album from NMA. Great production, scathing poignant lyrics as expected from them.
I did nothing wrong, I did nothing wrong
I was always straight and honest as the days were always long
I loved the job, I loved to help the peopleI did nothing wrong, they found me in the morning
Asleep in a sea of paper, coffee stains and bits of paper
Failed sums and bits of paper and nothing still resolvedTick the boxes only, only ones and zeros
Only tick the boxes, winners and losers only
Only right and wrong, innocent or guilty onlyI stare at numbers and stare at the screen
I stare at numbers and stare at the walls closing in
I stare at numbers and stare at the screen
I stare at numbers and stare at the walls closing inMachines do not lie, machines cannot lie
The company men arrive, business suits and poker faces
I offered what I could, but I am under suspicionMust be, Somebody knows what’s going on, somebody isn’t saying
The strategies of money, multiply with others paying
And everything decided higher up the chainI stare at numbers and stare at the screen
I stare at numbers and stare at the walls closing in
I stare at numbers and stare at the screen
I stare at numbers and stare at the walls closing inThe circuits, the logic, it follows, it follows, it follows…That if you like that you’re going to love this
If you bought that, you’re going to buy this
If you followed that, you’re going to follow this
If you agreed with that, you can agree with this
If you like that you’re going to love this
If you bought that, you’re going to buy this
If you swallowed that, you’re going to swallow this
If you agreed with that, you can agree with thisAnd oh, the numbers game and the losers to take the blame
And the acrid smell of fear, it seeps in everywhereI did nothing wrong, I told them in the courtroom
Now the sound of prison metal, the sound of closing gates
And worst of all, the sound of footsteps receding.......Can't understand why NMA are not bigger than they are. -

This is exactly the clip I was coming in here to post. So good.
I think those who are involved in music it's creation I mean, will appreciate this clip, how it closely resembles the album version. It's a great song too, superb writing and arrangements. Sad to sound so disparagingly, but there are too many flaky fakers into flaky music, Taylor Swift etc.

Very nice Stephen, great job with the vocal production, you achieved both warmth and clarity....heartfelt message lyrically too.
Still hearing a hint of The Big O in your voice which is certainly no bad thing!
Lovely acoustic guitar tone too.
Thanks for the response Paul. I'll never again do a song like this. It's just too hard to mix. There's so much at stake, as it's bare bones and all exposed. Trying to get the vocals and guitar to sound full, yet right as it's just them, was too much of a pain. I've done lots of other tracks with guitar layers that make the vocals easier to blend for me, that I'll release soon. More rock stuff and not as twee as this, which grates even for me. Cheers.

Is this the most Metal Classic guitar ever?
in Music Of The Spheres
Posted
The guy looks possessed, in a good way. He breaks all the ''rules' for classic guitar -position, posture etc. The way he tunes the guitar mid playing. Never seen anything like it, save metal/rock music. He is totally at one with the guitar. Amazing.
