  1. Coming up next from poll land, "who´s the best guitar player, Johnny Ramone or Eddie Van Halen?"

It does seem pretty strange to put someone who most people have never heard of and couldn't name even one song he did up against an icon like Jerry Garcia.

You're a riot. "most people have never heard of"? The only reason Garcia is a so-called "icon" is because he was part of that San Fran scene and many of his unwashed followers took so much acid they didn't really realize how crappy the Grateful Dead's music was.

  2. I think this list of 100 greatest guitarists is one of the most ridiculous lists I ever saw. It's a way worse than their current list of greatest metal albums.

Lifeson is placed on the 98th position. Guys who can't hold a candle to him as The Edge, Kurt Cobain, James Hetfield, Joe Perry, Jonny Greenwood(from Radiohead) and Johnny Ramone are all ranked above him. Keith Richards being on the 4th position, while Blackmore on 50th is unbelievable. List totally sucks ass.

It's a popularity contest rather than a true measurement of talent.

Not really. The voters were all prominent musicians. :)

Alex just isn't considered one of the top influential ("great") guitarists.

What the hell do they know? They were probably stoned when they voted. :rage:

  4. Totally depends on the band. If it's a band like Ghost or Helmet, where there is one main song writer, I guess lineup changes are not a big deal. If a band like Rush continued without Neil, that would be huge, because of his contributions lyrically and there is a synergy when those three musicians are together. I couldn't imagine an Iron Maiden without Steve Harris either.
  5. Anyone here like to grill fruit? Peaches, nectarines and pineapple are all excellent on the grill.

No, but I grill zucchini and asparagus. I use olive oil and some of the Lawry's season salt and season pepper. It's really good.
  6. Was never a fan of this band until I saw them in concert last night. Now I want to buy all their stuff! :)

I saw them open for Maiden last Thursday. I was already a fan, but even appreciate them more. They put on a great show.

  7. Tobias Forge to unmask himself publicly.

    http://www.blabbermo...how-appearance/

GHOST lead singer and founder Tobias Forge — who performs as Papa Emeritus — will publicly unmask himself for the first time since the band's formation for an upcoming appearance on "Sommar i P1", Swedish radio channel P1's daily one-man show which has aired every summer since 1959.

Each ninety-minute episode of "Sommar i P1" features a well-known Swede talking without interruption about whatever he or she likes, as well as choosing all the music for the program.

Forge stated about his August 17 appearance on "Sommar i P1": "I'm going to talk about my background and about how things never quite turn out the way you think they will."

Forge recently officially revealed his identity while responding to a lawsuit filed by four former members of GHOST, who accused him of cheating them out of their rightful share of the profits from the group's album releases and world tours.

In his court documents, Forge — who had previously played in several other rock bands, including REPUGNANT, CRASHDIET, SUBVISION, MAGNA CARTA CARTEL and SUPERIOR — took credit for developing GHOST's image and stage show and blamed his ex-bandmates for "destroying the mystery" surrounding the group by lifting the lid on GHOST's business dealings.

I met Forge and the band without masks on up in Reno. I waited until 3 am to meet them. They were great! Sooooo nice. Forge was a gracious dude. I told him that Ghost is my new RUSH since they retired. Forge shook my hand and bowed to me. DEATH KNEEL? LOL!!!

I have not been impressed their their last ep and I know most of the original ghouls are history. Forge is NOT an happy Papa these days.

Hopefully he can find the right chemistry for this summer.

GHOST is playing at the Warfield on July 2. Iron Maiden and Ghost on July 5th. Can't wait for both shows!!

Our VP was telling me how she met the band at a hotel pool in San Fran. She said they were very nice, and explained why they couldn't take a photo with her.

  8. Here are a few hints for people who want to be a better cook.

Don't cook on too high of a heat setting, unless you are trying to sear something.

Most food taste like crap when it's been over cooked.

Lawry's season salt and season pepper are great and often the only seasonings I'll use for stuff I grill.

  9. I love to cook, and my wife thinks I cook as well as many chefs.

I'm in the same boat. There are certain things my wife won't order in a restaurant because it doesn't taste as good as what I make, and she is let down.

  10. I DO, I DO!

That wasn't always the case. For a very long time the extent of my cooking knowledge stopped at being able to make spaghetti.

However, I have since learned that it is actually surprisingly easy to make delicious meals of various sorts, and can be lots of fun just to experiment with trying different combinations of ingredients.

    YAY FOR COOKING!

You cook? I always just pictured you gnawing on the carcasses of roadkill near your house?

Be glad your not on it meme.

Tbh this does not feel like a joke even thou it is. It still hurts my feelings, joke or not.

If you'd stayed out of the thread you'd feel a lot better. You know what to do next time. I don't know why you read my threads anyway since you don't like any of them. It seems like you just want to whine about them though.

No I would not feel better because I would still know I'm in this thread.

It hurts my feelings even though I know it's a joke, some jokes are just not ment to happen.

You are a fragile little snowflake. :eh:

  12. And how did they sell out? They were always pop-oriented and they just became better at hooks and songwriting as time went along.

Claiming to be punk but writing pop oriented music.

Punk is the antithesis of pop music.

Then why do The Ramones, Clash and others have simple chords and catchy, radio friendly choruses?

Simple cords, yes. Please tell me how well the Ramones charted? If you played Blitzkrieg Bop to 20 people on the street, how many of them would know that was the Ramones (or even know who the Ramones are). There is nothing pop about the Ramones. When they started, they were giving the bird to pop culture.

You could make the argument that the Clash may be the most approachable punk band out at the time.

  13. Someone call an ambulance, there's gonna be an accident! :haz:

I love what I've heard from Placebo. I heard Infra-red on XM and fell in love with the song. Other songs from Placebo that I like are Battle for the sun, Pure Morning, For What It's Worth, and Every You and Every Me.

I'm going to check out your list Lucas. Placebo is one of the bands that my wife and I both really love to listen to, so I need to expand my catalog of their music on my iPod! :haz:
