  1. Years ago I swore off PC gaming for life.

I haven't missed a beat other than maybe World of Warcraft which was probably in my addictive best interests not to play anyways...

I must admit though I'd really like to check out some of the community mods out there but alas I am on PS3, the worst of the worst when it comes to Skyrim apparently.

I don't follow PC mods closely but some amazing ones I have seen are the high rez nature + clothing textures, the enhanced map, proper item sorting etc and of course the airship from Final Fantasy.

Still pissed I can sing old Rush

I heard your clip and it sounded like a bag of ASS. Express you opinion of Geddy's voice all you want but get off your high horse and stop considering yourself a vocal expert just because you were brave / delusional to record yourself.

We laugh, then he pointed to me and said "and there's the only Skeletonwitch shirt at the show." biggrin.gif

Does Skeletonwitch have SHIRTS now with the new album artwork on them? When I saw them last winter they didn't have any new shirts yet. I was heartbroken, love the design and love the new album.

Necro-bump. Didn't Bethesda say originally that riding Dragons was going to be a big part of Skyrim?

Not that I recall and I've been following this since Day 1.

Might still see the light of day via DLC. I don't necessarily think it would be a good idea, they'd have to go about it very carefully. What would you do? Where can you land? What kind of combat would they have? Loading landscapes and draw distances would this be feasible with the engine they built?

There may be metal fans who find elements of their music in some of Rush's work, in particular their earlier stuff, but that doesn't make Rush metal.

There's too much Rush material that isn't anywhere near "metal" at all. And that's where the metal fans slip away.

Rock, hard rock, prog rock... but not metal.

    It's METAL!

It's not, it's Prog Rock............okay so what other bands do you consider "heavy metal"?

    No. It's prog metal.

Here are some examples of metal bands: Gorgoroth, Iron Maiden, Arch Enemy, Queensryche, Nuclear Assault, Black Sabbath, Venom, Iced Earth, Cradle of Filth, Red Fang.

    POW metal?

    HYF Metal?

    Presto Metal?

    Signals Metal?

    Really now? !Just sayin'

    Mick

Pretty easy to list non-metal stuff.

If you were arguing The Scorpions I'm sure you would have mentioned "Holiday".

Now go listen to "Natural Science" and adjust that attitude mister!

Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio. A fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy. He hath borne me on his back a thousand times. And now how abhorred in my imagination it is! My gorge rises at it. Here hung those
lips that I have kiss'd I know not how oft. Where be your gibes
now? Your gambols? Your songs? Your flashes of merriment that
were wont to set the table on a roar? Not one now, to mock your
own grinning? Quite chap- fall'n? Now get you to my lady's
chamber, and tell her, let her paint an inch thick, to this
favour she must come. Make her laugh at that.

Or, me and the kids messing around with cameras and foam hallowe'en skulls.

Great shot and Yorick is the first thing that came to mind, was going to post something to that effect but noticed you already did!

  8. First off OP, I commend you on finding a way to discuss the track as "most skippable" instead of calling it "dog shit" or some other descriptors that so many others would have used. That's a constructive way to put it.

And yes I agree with you. To me The Wreckers, despite being a decent track, is the most "skippable" on the album for me at least.

    Love the whole album.

    Me too.

Me three! This, although I would admit it is probably the worst example of "typical RUSH" record, this is the album that got me into Rush in the first place.

It will always "Hold" a special place in my heart, and despite it being largely mellow I honestly enjoy every last track on this one, something I cannot say for any album since, until Clockwork Angels showed up that is!

Harry Potter World. Which despite living 20 minutes north of Buena Vista (Disney and Co, are NOT in Orlando.) I've only been once, and despite living here for 10 years, i've never been to Disney world, because screw that.

    Great pictures!

  11. Ok well if people won't accept that all the myriad of heavy metal historians that certainly consider at least early Rush work to be metal, metal, METAL. Then here is another bit of evidence.

Neil himself came to me in a dream last night to discuss this and he considers much of the early Rush to fall into the metal genre.

He showed me an interesting tidbit from Clockwork Angels. They certainly wanted to do at least one track as a throwback to their early metal endeavors. He pulled out the original handwritten lyrics for one of tracks and showed me what the original working title was. Showed me how:

    Headbang Flight

    Eventually got title tweaked to:

    Headlong Flight

Because Geddy wanted something a little more subtle. They both agreed that this was a great title, a little subtle homage to one of their early metal tracks Cygnus-X1.

    "Headlong into mystery..."

    1022.gif

Sorry naysayers, but that came straight from Neil's nocturnal doppelganger. Crazy dreams last night I need to go locate a coffee.

This has got to be one of the best threads ever.

    Nah.

Undoubtedly in a parallel universe there is a similar, but slightly better version of this.

Probably with more bacon and sexual innuendo, if I had to guess.

  14. @OP You're a trolling moron piece of shit, don't worry though, IIWII.

This is by FAR one of the most beautiful and intricately composed pieces of work we've heard from Rush since... well... maybe since ever.

Go back to your Bon Jovi forum mister!

  17. Smaller bands / smaller venues implies that a lesser percentage of people there have never seen the band before and also perhaps that the band may not be *awesome* enough to warrant purchasing a t-shirt.

In the metal community at least, it is a badge of honor to wear a metal shirt, whether one of the bands playing or an alternate favorite to shows. So long as it's black.

Sometimes it's a matter of having to decide which t-shirt to buy...

    http://lineup.heavymtl.com/

I'll probably do a Dethklok / Arch Enemy /Cradle of Filth type combo for that, then buy a shirt each day from my favorite performer.
