  1. The 2013 Habs died as they lived: getting embarassed by a division rival they really should have beaten.

Bunch of key injuries didn't help them. Ottawa had a couple too, but in all fairness Habs' injuries hurt them a lot more.

Kinda funny after all the problems Ottawa went through this year. The injury bug giveth, and the injury bug taketh away.

It is what it is, I guess. No excuses.

In the end, the Habs had their chances...arguably outplayed the Sens in Games 1, 2, & 4 (2 of them LOSSES). The main point is, they were outplayed by the Sens in the 3rd period of EVERY game. You simply cannot expect to be successful or win the Cup by not scoring even a single goal in the 3rd throughout a series.

The injuries did hurt, but in a lot of the games, the Sens seemed to play with more fire and heart...and that won in the end.

    It wasn't their year. :(

  2. Haven't had popcorn in probably 10 years. Don't miss it.

Ironically, unlike Mara, I actually love the smell of popcorn...but have no care to eat it.

Also, I've heard rumblings about it not being good for you...so it's made my decision that much easier.

  3. So all the Habs are bitching about that last goal.

"THIS IS HOCKEY DAMN IT, NOT SOCCER".

Sorry, but that was a clear deflection, it wasn't kicked in.

Well...I'm not sure any of this is truly "clear", if you will.

Plus, what's done is done now regardless of how we (Habs fans) feel. But here's the take from former NHL ref Kerry Fraser:

    http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=422689

(Again, doesn't matter...but the point is, I don't think the Habs' bitching is completely off base in this case)

  4. Hab fans must hate that Conacher guy

Ugh. I just hate my own team right now. Brutal.

Oh well...hopefully Leafs join us in being eliminated Round 1...then hopefully the B's get eliminated in Round 2. Oh, hope the Pens get eliminated by the Isles as well.

If this is the case...I'll be okay.

  5. Back in the 80's Satriani was the man, especially by 1987 when "Surfing with the Alien" came out. His first three albums are gold. I got "Not of This Earth" in 1986 on import because of the Steve Vai recommendation sticker and was well impressed. "Flying in a Blue Dream" was great too but the next couple of albums after were only ok and after that he's been treading water for me, with average album after average album. Same old Satch stuff. He's still a great guitarist but his albums are pretty hum drum.

Hey Duck...yeah, I can definitely see your point.

I'm a huge Satch fan, but I can agree with anyone that sees that point of view. While I enjoy all of his releases, and I've loved a lot of his recent output, he does seem to have settled on simply writing basic songs (verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge/solo, chorus, outro). It's the simple formula, and while still good, it's nothing bombastic.

I wish he was a bit more like Buckethead, and just went out there and shredded it up. Like in Blue Dream, lots of great little pieces, some moments of shred, some vocal songs, etc. Mix it up...get experimental. We know he has the ability...he just seems to be content not pushing any boundaries which is a shame really.

With that said, I've managed to listen to the first two and a half tracks (had to come back to work), and I like what I hear so far! :guitar:

Yeah I tried for a long time, I got Crystal Planet and Engines of Creation which were not that great, and by the time I got to Strange Beautiful Music I'd had enough, that album was pretty much just a basic rock album, like a Steve Miller instrumental album or something, which would be ok if it was actually Steve Miller. And even the album title was basically Satch using his publishing company name like he'd run out of ideas. Since then none of the albums and stuff I've heard have tempted me back into the Satch fold. The only Satch stuff I've bought lately are the Chickenfoot albums, and he's pretty solid on there but hardly the great Satch of the 80's.

Maybe it's a Samson thing? It's been ever since he lost his hair that his albums haven't been up to scratch?  <<< Satch

    LOL...you may be onto something.

But seriously, I've enjoyed a lot of his 2000's output. IMO, for consistency, his best albums in this stretch (since Crystal Planet) were "Is There Love In Space?" and "Super Colossal". Crystal Planet, for me, is probably my favourite Satch record since The Extremist. Consistently good the whole way.

I was lucky enough to meet him two years ago, and the guy is just a real cool, down-to-earth fellow. It was great to meet one of my guitar heros! If I find the pictures and remember, I'll post them.

I will weigh in on this album once I get a chance to listen to the whole thing.

  7. Lots of controversy over the Calder nominees. Saad, Gallagher, and Huberdeau. Somehow, the rookie scoring leader (Yakupov) and the rookie playing top pairing minutes on a playoff team (Brodin) got left out. Weird. Not going to help the accusations of East Coast Bias towards the PHWA.

Maybe, and I'll sound biased for sure...but I believe Gallagher definitely deserves to be there.

I've watched virtually every Habs game this year, and he brings more than just scoring and points. He works hard every shift, plays with determination, and ultimately makes the guys around him better (Eller, Galchenyuk, etc.).

I'm not saying he deserves to win it...but he adds a lot to this Habs team, and I'm damn excited about the future.

  8. I'll buy the regular version with 8 tracks. Call me old school, but i've never muched cared for all the bonus track bullshit with albums. If the tracks weren't good enough to be included on the actual album to begin with then screw the extra tracks.

I usually agree, but for some reason, I've found some of Ozzy's "bonus tracks" to be better than many of the tracks from said album.

We will see with this Sabbath one though...

What bonus tracks do you mean?

    Oh, from Ozzy?

Well, the first one that comes to mind immediately is "Nightmare". It was a bonus track from Black Rain. I know many are not crazy about current Ozzy, but I actually found Black Rain pretty good overall. But...Nightmare stands out as a song that kills most of what's on the actual record, to the point where I'm like, "what the hell were they thinking leaving this off?"

He had another called "Don't Blame Me", from the 90's I believe, which I really like as well. There are others.

  9. Comes out tomorrow...looking forward to it.

I do wish that Satch would be a little more experimental on these records, and do more shredding like back in the day.

But, the guy is still a fantastic guitarist, and he has yet to release an album that disappoints me.

Looking forward to hearing what "Unstoppable Momentum" has to offer...

  11. Queens(Todd)ryche new album details:

    The album is called "Queensryche"

    http://www.blabbermouth.net/soulflypremiere/queensrycheself.jpg

    Europe: June 24

    North America: June 25

    Tracklist:

    01. X2

    02. Where Dreams Go To Die

    03. Spore

    04. In This Light

    05. Redemption

    06. Vindication

    07. Midnight Lullaby

    08. A World Without

    09. Don't Look Back

    10. Fallout

    11. Open Road

    definitely the version im supporting.

I don't think they should have called the album Queensryche though...

LOL...I agree, as in I typically hate when bands use the band's name as the album title.

BUT...this one is kind of okay, as in I am almost positive this is simply to rub a little salt in Geoff's wounds, as I'm sure he'll be pissed they are using the QR name in general, let alone on the album title. (Let's face it...Geoff's version used "F.U." on there's as a dig at these guys).

We're back to the DLR vs VH days...lol.

  12. Fights in Ottawa. Lol at White getting embarrassed. What a goof. I wanna see Gallagher and Subban in a fight. Those guys yap and yap, but never do anything. (PK's too busy ragging on his own team mates. What a loser. Check your ego at the door.)

    5-1 Sens

Blah, blah, blah. Leafs rule right?

Honestly...your post makes me laugh. It's one thing to hate the Habs, which is perfectly fine.

But to say that Subban and Gallagher, OF ALL PEOPLE, "never do anything"...are you kidding Bro? Nah...that doesn't reek of a Leafs fan talking, eh? Get over yourself. The guys are both studs, and could easily be in the running for the Norris and Calder trophies. Unbelievable.

Think about it. I dislike Crosby...but it would be like me saying "meh, he doesn't do anything". Whether you like a player or not, is completely irrelevant. If the guy is a good player, he's a good player. PK and Gallagher are both GREAT players, regardless of whether you choose to open your eyes or not. Sorry...I forgot, they don't likely meet the Truculence standards in T.O...lol.

Anyways, it's all good. The Habs got smoked. End of story. Time to reset and regroup, or likely lose the series. We'll find out Tuesday if they show up.

Sorry if I came across a little strong. Playoffs can get a guy riled up. Buy I was more so referring to the fact that they talk a tough game but never seem to drop the gloves to show us. There's no denying they're great players. I'll admit when a player has talent like that. This game was a little more physical than usual. But Subban dropping the gloves with Turris? Eh...

Haha...likewise. In fact, I'd say I came off a lot stronger in my post. Sorry...just watched my team get spanked in all aspects of what I considered a "must win". 6-1 blowout loss. Just terrible.

You're right...I must've misinterpreted that you were referring to the "tough game". To be honest, I'd prefer they stay away from it. That is NOT the Habs' game (which everyone seems to know based on the common criticisms of them being "too small"). They need to stick to what works for them. The same thing happened in the two games where they were dominated by the Leafs. They tried to play the others' game, and got caught. Today's game was eerily similar to those.

I agree that those guys may talk a big game...but they more than back it up where it counts, which is in big plays and the back of the net. That works for me. I'll tell you, remember Max Lapierre? Plays on the Nucks now, but the kid drove me crazy when he was a Hab. HE was a guy that simply talked tough, but not just talk, he truly tried to instigate fights and penalties, but was a coward at every turn. I couldn't stand it...was embarrassing. Worst of all, did next to nothing in the scoresheet either. These two guys at least do what they need to do to help the team.

I am glad they all stepped up to the plate to fight tonight, even if they got beat up. I hope they take something from this game, and that they can bounce back in Game 4. I'd like for the stupid stuff to subside now, and that we can get back to two skilled teams play some damn good hockey that they are capable of. Honestly, a game like tonight is something I pictured in the Leafs-Bruins series, not Habs-Sens!

  13. I'm also sad the Isles lost...definitely pulling for them. It's nice to finally see some success starting to show on the Island.

Also love the Blackhawks...they lost today, but I don't expect it to be the norm. They should still overcome Minny at the end of the day.

Canucks...not looking too good, that's for sure. Why can't this team score? It baffles me.

  14. Fights in Ottawa. Lol at White getting embarrassed. What a goof. I wanna see Gallagher and Subban in a fight. Those guys yap and yap, but never do anything. (PK's too busy ragging on his own team mates. What a loser. Check your ego at the door.)

  15. Jesus, Habs fans are annoying. Take a drink every time they boo at a completely clean/legal play, or any time there's no penalty call each time one of those Smurfs dives.

    :ranton:

And then there's the "ole, ole." :guitar:

    Ughhh yeah. :bang bang:

Hell, they don't even do that in soccer anymore.

    It's trademarked in Montreal...so they shouldn't! ;)

  16. This truly is sad.

I've currently got about 700 songs on my PS3...and still want to purchase more. I think there are so many more great songs that could have made it onto the DLC list. Too bad that will no longer happen. :(

As USB mentioned, this game became a staple for hangouts with friends and parties. Everyone always has a blast playing tunes together...so much fun! My wife and I even sat around many times, just the two of us, trying to play through the career mode.

I'm sure we'll see a "Rock Band 4" or something down the road for the new generation of consoles, but I don't plan to buy one for a long while yet.

  17. Being a Sony supporter is hard for this one. I think they should have waited until E3 to announce this. I understand the competition with Microsoft, but something about the PS4 doesn't sit well with me. It relies too much on cloud support for my tastes, and it's not backwards compatible with PS3 discs. I might be persuaded to actually buy one if:

    1. It's reasonably priced (We all know how much the PS3 was at ITS launch)

    2. I don't have to rebuy ALL my downloadable games on PSN

    3. I can have the option of digitally backing up my physical PS3 discs

    4. There is no used game block (which was announced already)

I realize Sony is trying to push a boundary here, but they aren't even halfway to the border. Relying on cloud gaming and social networking (the "Share" button in particular makes me cringe) makes console gaming look even more unappealing to majority PC players like me. I understand that the share option is optional, but why have it there in the first place? Who's going to really care if you got a trophy in some game? I get that console makers try to appeal to the more casual gamers among us, but they shouldn't be stooping to the level of Twitter and Facebook sharing. Leave that to mobile computing.

    1. Rumored price is $499 for base model, $599 for pro model. What that means, we don't know. Probably similar to the WiiU

    2. It's confirmed that all PS3 purchases will NOT be compatible with PS4, but trophies/PSN account carry over.

    3. Not happening. It would be so easy to sell a game right after you back it up.

    4. They confirmed there isn't.

That right there is utter garbage. Between all of my game add-ons (mainly Rock Band & Rocksmith), and other games, I have spent hundreds of dollars...and it will be all for not. Trophies mean very little to me, whereas my money and downloads mean a heck of a lot more. Wow...terrible.

There's one big reason I won't be rushing out to get a PS4. I'm happy with my PS3 for now.

  18. Sadly, this is not new at all my friend.

I don't consider people sitting a "sin", but I damn sure consider people asking others to sit down a "sin".

This is a rock concert, and people should be allowed to stand if they so please.

I'm of the mindset that if you plan to sit, that's okay...but be aware that you might be sitting behind others who stand.

That's why lately, I've been spending way more money to get close floor seats. So far, it has allowed me to stand freely...which I've loved. :guitar:

  19. new song from the upcoming album "Unstoppable Momentum": https://soundcloud.c...oor-into-summer

Yep, heard this one a few weeks back.

It's a good tune...but nothing mind-blowing. I'd just love to see Joe shred a little more, or at least reach outside the box a bit more. I'd like an album more in the vein of 'Blue Dream'.

Either way, I've enjoyed all of his albums...so I'll be buying this one next week for sure.

Great guitar player, great guy...met him about a year and a half ago, just a cool, humble dude. :guitar:

  20. R.I.P.

He also did great work with Joe Satriani.

I loved his work on 'The Extremist'...one of my favourites.

Joe had posted the following blurb on his FB account:

"Very hard to put into words how I feel about losing Andy Johns so suddenly. We spoke just a few weeks ago about working together on a few movie soundtracks that he had been commissioned to produce, he sounded upbeat, enthusiastic and as usual full of ideas. He brought real musical magic to "The Extremist" and "Chickenfoot" records, experiences I will always treasure. As an engineer and producer he changed the sound of rock music for all time. He was a musical giant who's presence will be missed, and I will miss him very, very much."
