  1. Also, with that said...I am not a fan of the Pens and can't believe what kind of pull Shero has on all other GM's. They make all these trades without giving up barely anything at all.

It's pretty ridiculous. It's almost like Shero knows some dark secrets of every GM, and is holding them hostage with them in order to make these kinds of deals. Oh well, it will make them even more disappointed when they can't get the job done this year.

That's not what it was at all.

In my opinion I think Iggy went to Pittsburgh because he wants a cup before he hangs it up and right now Pittsburgh is looking the most promising. Plain and simple.

Side note: MY BOYS ARE STACKED BEYOND BELIEF RIGHT NOW!!!!! SO VERY EXCITED AS TO WHAT THIS WILL MEAN!!!

No matter which way you want to define it...it was a shitty trade for Calgary. If I was a Flames fan, I'd be pissed. They got hosed LARGE.

Either way...will only make the disappointment that much greater in Pittsburgh when they fail to get the job done. :)

In fairness, the return sort of makes sense. Iginla is a UFA this summer, so the Penguins are only getting a quarter of a season and one playoff run out of him. Plus, he's 35 and definitely isn't the same player he was in the past.

Calgary's real mistake was in waiting so damn long to do this. It's been obvious for a long time now (to everyone but CGY management, apparently) that the Flames are going nowhere. Many fans were calling for Iginla to be traded at the 2011 deadline. Imagine how much they could've gotten for him then, as a 43-goal scorer with two years left on his contract. But they convinced themselves they were a playoff team, tried to patch holes with bad contracts, kept old and declining players around, and failed to restock the prospect depth. It's the 2007 Leafs all over again, and you can see how they turned out.

Oh, I absolutely agree. Just atrocious management on the Flames.

Plus, not only Iginla, but all 3 guys picked up this week are UFA's at season's end. So, great moves really. Knowing Iginla, he will take a huge pay cut to stay with the Pens, so they get a big win there, as he's still got a few years left.

Don't get me wrong, as a Habs fan, I'm ecstatic he didn't go the Bruins. If I was Pens fan, I'd be stoked about getting Iginla for absolutely nothing, all while in the midst of a 13 game winning streak. Amazing deal by the Pens.

I'm just saying, I can't wrap my head around how Shero is able to convince GM's to give up solid, star players for absolutely nothing. He made three big deals this week...and gave up nothing of significance in return. Man...I wish Bergevin could pull off these kinds of deals!!

The rich get richer, that's the law of the land! But as the Rangers are showing, getting what you think is that "last piece of the puzzle" (Rick Nash) doesn't guarantee a Cup, or even a playoff spot. I wonder, though, with the way the Pens are playing right now, did they need that last piece? Why mess with what appears to be good chemistry? I suppose adding Iggy won't hurt, and it's not like Pitt mortgaged their future to get him. And if he can get a Cup with them, then that's cool.

I thought the same thing (regarding messing with chemistry)...but then again, as you stated, they basically got him for free (which is ridiculous really). Either way, I don't think this guarantees anything. Yes, the Pens are stacked on paper, but we've seen crazier things happen in sports.

They have a fantastic team on paper...but we'll see how they do come playoff time. Goaltending is still a big question mark as Fleury can be both great and terrible depending on the day. I still believe that the Blackhawks are a better team overall. We'll see I guess.

  5. IGGY IS A PENGUIN!

    fixed.

:D LOL...had to laugh at this. I too, went to bed with the understanding that he was basically a Bruin. Woke up to find out he went to Pittsburgh. I'm not going to lie...very happy to know that Bruins fans got their hopes up for nothing! ;) GO HABS GO!

  6. Amazing record!! :haz:

Arguably one of my favourite albums...and this was for me, the first QR album I ever heard. It got me hooked on the band. A super strong album from start to finish

Ironically, I found this thread after reading about this ridiculousness that we now have TWO bands under the name 'Queensryche'. It makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time. Tate is a joke, and I've come to that conclusion. I too am looking forward to the 'La Torre' version of the band. The best thing ever would be if they could also coax DeGarmo to rejoin them. *dream*

Anyways, as far as Empire...I have to go with RESISTANCE. My absolute favourite on this record...it was the first song that immediately hooked me, and I simply never get tired of listening to it.

  7. It's not even the Best song on CA imo

Correct...not even in my top half of the album personally. It is a nice song...but I don't find myself wanting to listen to it all that much.

Maybe I just prefer the heavier stuff personally...except for The Wreckers which gets heavily played and is to me, one of the best songs they've written.

  8. :notworthy:

    Thank you to everyone!!

I will admit...I don't post enough. Not sure why. There was a stretch leading up to, and after the release of CA where I was posting tons, and was loving all my discussions with you great people!

In October, we gave birth to our baby daughter (our first), and between her and work...I seemingly haven't had much time to post on here!

I will try to get on here more...but I just want to say, 6 years have flown by, and I have loved every second of them here at TRF. One of the greatest sites on the web, and such amazing people here! I truly appreciate all of your kind words!

  9. Mama by Genesis. Such an aggressive vocal from Phil, that he really never ever matched again, solo or Genesis material.

One of my all-time favourites. I never, ever get sick of this song.

Glad you mentioned his vocals as well...just a mind-blowing performance really...especially in that 'bridge' section. Love it!

  10. Hey Guys,

I don't see this marked down. I did bump my old 'Rocksmith' game topic in the Gaming section, but since this is Rush news, I thought I'd bring it up here as well.

They just (finally) released a RUSH package of songs for Rocksmith:

    Tom Sawyer

    Red Barchetta

    YYZ

    Limelight

    Subdivisions

    Headlong Flight

Looking forward to downloading these and giving them a try. I highly doubt I'll ever fully figure out how to play them! LOL...but I look forward to the challenge.

(FYI...for those who don't know what Rocksmith is, it's a video game like 'Rock Band', except that you actually play the songs for real (with real instruments...guitar and/or bass)).

  11. Do they have this for bass?

They do now have BASS apparently! I haven't yet bought that part (as I don't have a Bass Guitar yet!).

But I cannot wait...I have always wanted to learn the Bass. With Rush songs now...it will be even sweeter!!

  12. :bump:

Just wanted to chime in...I haven't played this in awhile, but was more than excited to see that there is FINALLY...

    a RUSH pack!

    Tom Sawyer

    Red Barchetta

    YYZ

    Limelight

    Subdivisions

    Headlong Flight

I'm not sure I'll ever fully figure out how to play these songs...but it will be awesome to try! :haz:

  13. QUOTE (lerxt1990 @ Oct 4 2012, 07:46 PM)
    Ill repeat my opinion.

Sorta nice they got nominated, but we're competing with Donna Summer and Chic. Is that the line we want to get ahead in?

I'd, perversely, love it if they passed, but they wont, because Rush are gentlemen, as Alex would say "Good Canadian Boys."

    Bingo.

  14. QUOTE (LeaveMyThingAlone @ Oct 4 2012, 02:47 PM)
I've said this from day 1:

Every year when Rush gets snubbed, all the Rushheads come out of the woodwork and say that "The RRHOF doesn't deserve Rush" and "I hope they never get in" and "It's better that they are not in", etc etc

I've always maintained that when and if the day comes that they do get it it will be one of the coolest things ever and all those same Rush heads will agree.

I disagree...I don't see it as a good thing at all.

Not necessary at this point IMO.

  15. I'm so happy about it too.

Peyton has long been my favourite QB...and I'm happy to see it.

I think it's a travesty that everyone was doubting him coming off the injury. The guy is stellar...absolute money.

The Colts are going to be kicking themselves for years to come...believe it. Like you said, Broncos are legit with PM.
