  1. I had a dream the other night about Chrissie, Kris and Jaime...all of them were naked and they seemed to be sleepwalking and they all kept repeating the same thing over and over like a mantra: "I love me, I love me, I love me, I love me, I love me"...and they just kept walking about like that for hours and hours... http://xn--applejnger-feb.de/html/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/smiley_emoticons_joint.gif

  2. I just read a very interesting article in Cosmo (yes I read that rag :P ) on the study of exercise combatting the effects of anti-depressant/ SSRIs like Lexapro and Zoloft. It was determined that working out 20-30 mins before having sex leads to more desire, arousal and orgasm satisfaction because exercise increases your sympathetic nervous system firing which controls genital stimulation and that's what SSRI's inhibit. Hmm.. no wonder so many couples enjoy working out together.

  3. I've always dated men older than I am.

Eric is 8 years, 10 months and 15 days younger than I am. We have a great relationship most of the time. People usually guess wrong on our ages. I'm always carded and he's always accused of being in his late 30's... :rose:

The age thing bothered me a lot at first, but I felt so secure with us that it didn't matter after that.

Hey he's my age! I didn't know that!

    Right on! :D

Yeah, he is! Did you get to meet him too when I met you? He's just the most beautiful person I've ever laid eyes on...

I really wish I could hang out with you again! That would be awesome.

I think I did meet him briefly... was kinda crazy with all the Rush Nuts there. I doubt he or even YOU would recognize me now.

BTW have you started the 21 day raw challenge yet? I can send you some recipes to make it really interesting and fun if you want. Or just look at "my" Raw Food Diet thread... I've been posting my recipes I've been coming up with in there.

Hey, I just saw this. I didn't start it because I accidentally deleted the email you sent me. :(

I see how it is... :P

Just kidding... try these: http://www.fullyraw.com/#!meal-plan/c143m that's to sign up for the 21 day challenge. * If you feel you can't do it, stop and just try doing it gradually. I found it a hard first 4 days and then after I felt a lot better. By week 2 I was noticing a lot of stuff detoxing even through my skin and hair (kinda gross I know but necessary) and after that I noticed my pain with digestion pretty much gone, which I hadn't experienced in years.

There are some really kick ass Raw Vegan Food blogs out there too with awesome recipes. :)

  4. I am interested in reducing meat intake, and I know I should avoid dairy, but I still eat some and suffer (mainly to feel full). Would some of you vegetarians be willing to share a full day or 2 of your meal plan? How do you get enough protein to stay full?

There's a good thread in this forum called protein where a lot of us who don't eat much meat for whatever reason have posted how to get complete protein servings daily.

  5. I eat a mostly raw diet now. Only because it works for me and I have highly sensitive digestive issues. This means about 80% and higher of my diet is raw plants. I do on occasion eat fish as I love it! As well as chicken (grass fed) and the occasional piece of red meat. I mean very occasional like maybe once a month and I have it extremely rare almost raw and it's organic and grass fed only!

I don't eat products from animals so no dairy because of my casein allergy and eggs just never digest well.

I'm not saying I'm a vegetarian or that everyone should eat this way but it has helped me 100% to start enjoying food again.

  6. Hobo, I did warn you that this would happen. I've been here long enough and have seen people come and go. I hope you take a break and think things through and then come back when you are ready.

  7. There are an awful lot of vegetables I don't like. I remember one Christmas Eve at my great-uncle's trying to eat enough brussels sprouts to be polite and literally throwing up in my mouth. I tend to like expensive vegetables, things like artichokes. I love peas but will not eat canned ones.

If it's meat or cheese - different story. I like pork tenderloin served PINK (gasp!) in the middle, rare hamburgers (I'd like steak tartare if it didn't involve an egg), and just about all kinds of sushi EXCEPT anything with octopus. I've never met a cheese I wouldn't at least try and there are very, very few I have actively disliked.

I will not venture near tripe or menudo or head cheese.

I grew up thinking that squid just had to be nasty; once I was old enough and adventurous enough to try calamari I discovered my childhood hunch was dead bang on! Have never had any that didn't make me think of flavorless rubber bands. I will not eat identifiable tentacles. As for other seafood, I used to like tilapia until I discovered that its diet is largely fish shit; it's put into trout farm tanks to help keep the tanks cleaner, and the fish farms get 2 for 1.

Calmari is very difficult to cook properly cause if it's overcooked you get the rubber texture but I have had it done VERY VERY well and it was soooooo good. But like I said it's difficult to find places who do it well.

I'm a BIG fish eater with arctic char and pickerel being my 2 faves to eat and prepare. I also love sushi but I can't eat anything with shellfish because of my allergy.

Funny thing about Brussels sprouts, I HATED them for years yet last Christmas we went out to eat with his family and the turkey I ordered was served with a single sprout. I did the polite thing and ate it and was sad there was only one. I guess they cooked it right. A lot of people cook it in bacon grease which is a no-no for me because of my pork and nitrate sensitivity. But however they cooked them was very yummy.

  8. Are Geddy and Alex both sitting behind home plate?

Yes Alex is in the end seat, stealing all his grandson's popcorn :laughing guy:

Well he can't finish all that popcorn by himself! :P

I saw him getting all excited and waving at the players. It would be nice if the Jays could win today.

  9. I remember my first post quite well, actually. Someone criticised the lyrics to Workin' Them Angels, suggesting that because Neil is a very cautious adventurer who always makes sure to cover his ass when he goes out to do anything risky, it's self-aggrandising for him to be talking about "working them angels" as if he ever actually puts himself in real danger. I posted that I didn't care whether the lyrics were based on Neil's real life or if he wrote them without ever having left his bedroom, because they became a beautiful and meaningful song, and that's what I care about. I recall that the poster to whom I was replying gave me a :goodone:

I remember that! You seemed like an intelligent person from the first post. :) It's good you had such a positive response to your first post... I guess not everyone is so lucky it seems.

  10. Yup... it was October 10 2006 and I posted about how a colleague of mine ran into Alex and Neil I think or maybe Geddy at a Raptors game and he asked what they were doing in town and they told him they were recording a new album. This was before S&A got announced and I got some people asking me "WHERE'S YOUR SOURCE?!" and a lot of people not believing me... but in the end look who was right.

    :P

Completely off topic but every time I glance at your avatar she looks like she's farted.

Or lookin like that Penguin is shoving a Hockey stick up her deriair . ( And seems to be enjoying it )

That's an artist's rendition of me... and maybe I like having hockey sticks shoved up my butt.

    :eyeroll:

  12. I'll have to try that one.

I made a kale salad tonight and I made a lemon chia seed dressing.

Olive oil, lemon juice, 1/2 tsp chia seeds and a sweetener of choice like agave. It came out fantastic.

  13. May I ask what a typical day of eating looks like for you?

Today I had a banana & tea when I got up.

    Ran/walked for 60 mins.

Had breakfast of chia pudding and berries.

Lunch was kale salad with quinoa, pecans, & avocado.

Sweet tooth was acting up so I had a handful of little chocolate covered raisins.

For a snack I might have some kale chips or fruit.

Tonight we're going out to an Indian restaurant for a friend's birthday do I'll have to figure out what to eat there. Indian food has so much cream & butter it often gives me a tummy ache, but hopefully I can find a nice veggie dish. I may splurge and have a beer.

Oh yeah, I'm a vegetarian so that's why there's no meat here :)

Also, I don't measure what I eat. Since most of what I eat is fruits and veggies I just eat until I'm no longer hungry. (You can't eat too many veggies.) If I decide to eat some sweets or bread I'll keep the portions on the small size.

I eat a lot of Indian food. You'll be safe with a veg vindaloo, veggie pakora, also some curry is made with coconut milk base (tastes WAYbetter that way) ask the server. Also garlic naan bismatti rice. Lots of veggie choices

  14. Oh I'm an obsessive counter, if I don't, I gain weight. I have a log and a special formula and everything. Except I will admit I don't worry so much if I'm eating super healthy.

I used to use that calorie counter app too.. I think I added you to my friends on it actually..

I found that while it helped to motivate me to be more active in exercising, it STILL wasn't the best thing for me. I've lost 7lbs since starting to eat raw and cutting out gluten and refined sugar. 7lbs that I have been able to KEEP OFF! Which is really saying something.

The calorie counter doesn't give too much detail about your daily requirements of protein, carbs, fibre, calcium etc... so that's why i stopped using it.

I've lost 22 lbs and two pants sizes since late January simply by eating well and exercising.

Also, don't put a whole lot of emphasis on the scale. If you are also exercising you will be building muscle, and muscle is denser than fat. So you might only "lose" 5 lbs, but what's really happened is you've lost 10 lbs of fat and built 5 lbs of muscle, but you've also lost a clothing size. Measurements and fitness mean more than weight.

Eat foods that don't come in packages, eat a variety of different things, and try to make sure most of the food is plants.

This is what did it (is doing it) for me.

Oh ya I should mention the 7lbs was pure body fat. I do yoga and Pilates so I do have muscle tone. I'm going to be running again soon. That will help the cardio out more.

For me the reason I changed my diet wasn't to lose weight it was to be able to absorb nutrients from food and cleanse my leaky gut.

  15. Also, I don't count anything food-wise—calories, fat, protein. Two things I learned from Weight Watchers are: The more you count stuff, the more you obsess over it, and you should not obsess over food; and, your eating habits should be sustainable for the long-term and unless you're planning on counting stuff every day of your life then don't bother with it now.

Instead, concentrate on eating well. Eat foods that don't come in packages, eat a variety of different things, and try to make sure most of the food is plants.

  16. Can you explain why you look for a certain alcohol percentage?

You want different alcohol percentages depending on what you are eating with the food. High alcohol accentuates spiciness and doesn't play well with spicy foods. It can also mellow out high fat foods, cutting through that fat/richness and sort of "evening" things out. High alcohol also gives the impression of sweetness, so it can work well with fruity foods.

The problems with high alcohol wine is that it makes the wine feel very "heavy" and can easily overpower light and delicate foods. It also makes the wine appear more acidic and as such will not work well with dairy- or cream-based foods.

Exactly. It really can compliment a meal or make it taste terrible.

Im ver careful when choosing a complimentary meal wine.

    Can you provide an example?

    Sure...

There are reasons why you serve a red with heavier meats or pastas with tomato bases.

If you were to make a juicy roast beef or a juicy steak- I'd go with a shiraz because it's a full bodied, drier red wine with a smooth taste. I also wouldn't count out a nice merlot.

I wouldn't choose to serve a Cabernet Sauvignon with the beef because I find it's too strong of a taste due to the amount of tannins, but I would serve it with a pasta dish that has a tomato base or a pinot noir especially if there are a lot of tomatoes cause it's cuts down the acidity and it's heavy fruit blends compliment the veggies.

As a rule I stick to white when it comes to fish or vegetable based dishes. Salads and fish I like a pinot grigio... also one of my fave drinking wines.

Fish or chicken I can go to Cab Sav Blanc especially if Im making something with lemons or vinaigrettes as it tones down the impact of the flavour and blends it well.

Cream based sauces (although i dont eat them anymore) I went with a chardonnay because it's light and balances out the heavier tastes of the cream.

I also LOVE cooking with wine. I ditched the cream bases in favour for wine bases in a lot of soups and sauces. The right wine will def bring that extra zaza zoo to it.
