  1. Are people really afraid of heights, or are they afraid of falling?

I'm not afraid of heights but I am afraid of falling. Which means if I know I'm safe I have no problem being up high, looking over the edge.

I'm the same way. Although the first drop on roller coasters scares the CRAP outta me. I'll never go sky diving either because of that fear but I have no problems rock climbing or cliff climbing (done both) on harness of course. Or looking over the edge of tall places.

  2. I'm basically a vegetarian. I eat fish (mainly tuna) at times but that's about it.

I hate the idea of harming animals and that's why I'm a vegetarian but I still eat fish at times.

The term you're looking for is pesetarian. A person who doesn't eat any animal products but eats fish.

  3. What's the difference between vegan and vegitarian?

Vegetarians don't eat dead animals (or things like gelatin made from dead animals) but will eat eggs and milk products.

Vegans don't eat any animal products at all, and often don't wear leather or wool either.

And they both have bowel movements that could fell a forest of sequoias. We've got one of each currently in the office and you do. Not. Follow them into the bathroom after lunch. The same applied to the three other we've had come and go in the 7 years I've worked here. (Another thing I've noticed - you can leave 10 cans of Febreze in each stall and the worst offenders never realize it's meant for them).

I realize I'm generalizing based on a sample of five, but what is up with that? Is it all the beans? During my own 2 years in the vegetarian world I probably wasn't the best about maintaining a balanced diet (I was in college - nobody eats balanced meals in college) but I don't remember my roommates ever complaining about me stinking up the shared bathroom.

So, without getting TMI, I don't really have this problem. Certainly it's no worse than the average person.

And as far as the beans myth, if a person isn't used to eating a certain food (beans, fruit, tons of veggies, etc.) at first it may cause, uh, intestinal differences. But after a short while your body gets used to processing that food and everything goes back to normal.

Does it ever. I wanted to start eating healthier a few months back and figured I'd change my breakfast to oatmeal from toast. Heart healthy...etc. Two days in my stomach was not happy. I read up a bit about it and turns you want to introduce "real" oatmeal, raw oats to your diet slowly, don't have a full cup+ serving a few days in a row. That was a lesson learned.

Try breakfast chia seed pudding with fresh fruit. I find it fills you up, gives you energy and keeps you regular. Be careful about eating oatmeal... it's not that healthy for you. Quinoa for breakfast mixed with raw oats might be a good way to introduce raw oats to your diet.

  4. I'd say that looks pretty good. The electronics are by Fishman, and they are good.

Ya its a lil more than I was thinking of spending but after playing it in the store and seeing all the potential it has with the pick ups and all I think I'm going to take the plunge and get it.

Fishman are good... been doing research and having that already installed is a hell of a lot cheaper then getting it done later. Not a cheaply made product which is what I'm in the market for. I don't want a piece of crap that's going to be out of tune so much or not have as full of sound that this baby does.

You're being smart by not going cheap for your first one. Higher quality instruments feel better, play better, and sound better. All of that means you will be more motivated to play. Plus, with the electronics, you are giving yourself room to expand.

Ya exactly. i was mucking around with the cheaper ones in the shop and they didn't feel right to me. I saw the concert sized one and started playing it and immediately I fell in love. The sales clerk told me he'd give me a deal to do it on layaway so in a few weeks it's mine :)

  6. Just finished deep cleaning my new home. I never had this much satisfaction from cleaning my house before, I guess this means I really like this one.

    :)

Did you guys buy a home??

I love the feeling of a nice, clean, cozy home. Especially when it's stormy outside.

Haven't bought yet but I like it all the same.

It's stormy outside today... I wish the clouds would take a hike so I could enjoy the long weekend outdoors somewhat.

    It's all the fibre! :LMAO:

They prolly need to combine their proteins and fibres differently. I know if you eat too many nuts or too much quinoa you can have constipation issues and if you eat your fruit after meals you'll get nasty gas.

I admire the folks who have such discipline. I pay pretty close attention to what I eat but this (vegan anyway) seems like lots of work to me...... :)

It's not work if that's how you're supposed to eat for whatever reason. What I see as work is straying from my diet guidelines and not being sure if I'm going to have a reaction to something or feel ill afterwards. After years of torture and hating food and eating I've finally found a food plan that works for me. It's very much vegan in design but like I said I do eat the odd piece of grassfed meat. I'm slowly coming to terms that I may have to phase that out soon too. Raw vegan food has been so healing to me.

  9. My husband bought me this book...

    http://www.amazon.co...ASIN=1451636741

I never feel like I'm eating vegan anything when I make her recipes. Especially the mushroom stuffed won-tons, I swear they taste just like I'm eating beef with veggies. So delicious.

Also, I second x1yyz on the B12, I buy a fortified brewers yeast and just eat it. But that's a bit too much for some people, my acupuncturist also has little B12 patches that he sticks behind my ear.

I have B12 issues like CRAZY ever since I was about 13 even before i started eating this way. I can't take the supplements but someone else recommended the nutritional yeast... i think i might try that.

*edited because I called you "Al" for some weird Freudian reason... :LMAO:

  10. I miss love letters.

When I was with a soldier and he had been sent to Iraq we had a lot of technology at our disposal, thank-God. I'd get an e-mail from him almost every night letting me know he was okay and sometimes I'd get a satellite phone call/chat for 30 minutes. It was so awesome to see his face and hear his voice. But it was the postcards and the letters that I cherished the most. I miss small gestures.

Especially when you're apart for a significant amount of time things like that become very special. When I first started dating my boyfriend he used to send me random post cards and gifts in the mail. He wouldn't even tell me he was sending me anything, I would just get lil surprises in the mail along with sweet handwritten letters. :) Even now we've been living together for a while now and he still leaves me lil notes and lil gifts. It makes me feel really special. :)

I leave my wife little gifts all the time...then she yells at me for not flushing.

HAHAHA!!!! I can see your wife now...

DAMMIT JIM!!!! YOU LEFT A FLOATER!!!! :rage: :bitchslap:

Seriously tho... you know that me and D were living far away from each other for quite a while... having a guy who sends random gifts in the mail without telling you is pretty romantic.

  11. I didn't go gluten free, but l decided to pretty much cut out sugar and carbs from my diet, "the white stuff" as I've seen it called. I have cut out 98% of priocessed sugar and 85% of carbs, pretty much only whole wheat when I do eat it. I started the first week of April.

I have lost two "belt loop" sizes and had a great surprise at the Dr yesterday. My blood pressure has dropped significantly. I have been 130-135/80-85 for years and that is with medication. It was at 190/115 at one point without medication.

Yesterday it was 112/60 and I was shocked and thought there must have been a mistake. At the end of my appt (at least 20 min later) I asked to have it taken again and explained why. It was 120/70. I mentioned cutting out sugar and carbs and the nurse said that can certainly have an effect on BP.

I am ecstatic about this, I just wanted to lose a few inches and be healthier. That was a great bonus.

That's amazing Digi!!! Honestly, I've seen SIGNIFICANT results for myself for changing the way I eat. Not just in how I look, but how I feel, my moods, and my health.

    That's great to hear! :D

  12. Gluten is gross.

Especially if you see colonscopic pictures of what it does to the lining of your intestines and colon. :puke:

Detoxing myself of it has helped clear up my villi quite a bit and my absorption rate of proteins, iron and B12 have risen. It's def not for me.

Oh my, who goes in just to have a camera put up their butt?

People suspected of colon cancer which is one of the most preventable cancers and a good chance of survival if caught early.
