  1. Hey so as promised I started a jewelry thread for anyone on here who appreciates pretty shiny things or who makes them. Hobo I think you mentioned you make jewelry too. :)

I make jewelry myself. I love it... since I work with yarn, hemp and do lacework I found these pieces were inspired a lot by those kinda of pieces.

Beaded hemp lace bracelet I made in 2012

The matching hemp beaded lace choker I made in 2012 also.

    Anyone else make jewelry?

I've read a long time ago in a book that people with long slim fingers are more prone to be working with small creative details, whereas people with short hands are more suitable for hard labour. Grossly stereotypical I know, but when I see this post and what you've made in the "How Handy Are You" thread I can't help but wonder if there is merit to the generalization? Anyway I really admire crafty people. Makes me wanna be one myself :)

Damn you got skills all of you!

Interesting thought... that is my long alien looking arm and fingers modelling the bracelet.

Maybe there is truth to that. It does help to have small hands when doing lacework I can say that much.

Alien looking arm and fingers?! :o

Hope you don't mind getting a compliment but I find these supposedly "alien looking arms and fingers" very elegant and beautiful :)

 thanks... i should make more pieces... been feeling inspired lately

  2. I kept trying to think of my girl crushes but I couldn't really think of many. I could swear I have more but I guess with my traditional upbringing I don't allow myself to think of it so much. I used to love Angelina Jolie but she is even a bit too crazy even for me and then there's the whole 6 kids and Brad Pitt thing... I think Brad is overrated. But she's still gorgeous. But my girl of the moment is Dita Von Teese    She makes my heart go pitter-patter.

I do seriously crush on bois, lesbian girls that dress masculine in vests and suits and have cute short hair cuts. I know, I'm weird.

I LOVE DITA! Her new lingerie line is absolutely fabulous.. I have a few pieces I'm going to order.

Growing up in Toronto, a very gay-friendly city (we have Pride week every year) I got hit on quite a bit by lesbians. I found it flattering like crazy... I have somewhat of a feme look to myself but I was hit on by other femes and a couple butches. It always made my guy friends crazy watching these beautiful women come up to me at the club or bars and us flirting back and forth, sneaking a lil kiss here and there.

Reminds me of the time I went to a gay bar in Long Beach with some of my gay guy friends (and co-workers) and I'll never forget the look on this one girl's face when I said I was straight. She was most disappointed. Of course that's not totally true (the straight bit) but I was seeing my now-husband at the time so I figured why complicate things. I also didn't feel like saying "I'm bisexual!" right in front of like 8 of my co-workers.

Ya... I was very spoiled by living in such an open city like Toronto. A woman can say she's bisexual without a second thought... most men believe all women are bi anyway. I think it's because we are more open with our sexuality and more casual than men are. A woman can get drunk at the bar with a bunch of people around and make out with other women and nobody makes a big deal of it. If a guy gets drunk and starts making out with dudes there are questions and awkwardness... it's a shame because guys kissing is kinda hot. Well only if they're into it I guess.

I'll admit I feel a little  when Alex and Geddy get a little close hahaha.

Damn. I had just grabbed the popcorn and was settling in when you came up with that one..... :sigh: :outtahere:

Yeah you might want to go hang out in SOCN or go talk about bacon in a squeeze bottle or something.

    :LMAO:

  8. Beautiful! I'm bound to have pics somewhere of a couple pieces I've made. In storage I have several tool boxes full of supplies (though I will replace all my beading tools ASAP. they're all just.....dull and broken after much use). I have hundreds of pieces made, as well.

I made quite a bit of money in high school selling it, which took me totally by surprise. People were buying the jewelry I was wearing off of me. It happened so often I ended up wearing nothing but my own jewelry to school.

I do plan on having a little home business someday.

I use beads of all kinds, and much prefer hemp over anything else :)

Those are really nice hobo. Have you ever thought of opening a shop on etsy.com? A lot of people I know including 2 of my cousins sell handmade things on there. It's a good way to make some $ on the side and it's nice knowing someone loves your work. :)

Thank you so much! those are a couple beginner pieces I made at 16. It's funny to look back and think of how far I've come!

YES, I love etsy and definitely plan on using it!! thanks!!! I would love to have some sort of income from this :)

Well if you've already been selling them then make a bunch up and put them on there. You can make some good side income. :)

  9. Good luck to you, hope the diet works out. Raw diet is excellent. Have done it in the past for allergies and stuff. To strengthen the stomach lining/immune system, we tried the pro biotic diet too. Fermented veggies cabbage beetroot and gherkins, as dairy can cause. problems.

The fermented veggies are delicious and a good alternative to the yoghurts. All the best with your new eating regime.

    Thank you.

I'm sticking with it I think. I have been experiencing WAY WAY less digestion issues eating everything raw, I don't see myself changing any time soon. I have so much energy, feel happier, my skin looks glowy, and my pain seems to have subsided.

Do you have any sample menus or shopping lists? What does an average day of eating raw look like for you?

I discovered the BEST website with recipes Im DYING to try.

    http://www.rawmazing.com

If you join her mailing list she sends a pantry list of items you should have around and if they are vegan or gluten free or not.

I'm buying a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables... since it's the start of Spring here lots of fresh produce is around.

Im eating: sprouts like sprouted buckwheat (gluten free) chia seeds, hemp seeds, unhulled sesame seeds etc.. I eat 2 tbsp each day mixed with my food.

Nuts: not too many- they can cause gas pain (i noticed) I like raw almonds and raw cashews... made a few things by soaking them and blending them up into pastes and "cheeses"

TONS of water.. I love fruit infused water it's soooo good been drinking that for a few years now.

We have been soaking chia seeds in almond milk and using them in our morning smoothies... we use frozen berries, no ice.

I love chia! I want to start making some chia puddings.

    VERY easy and VERY yummy!

get a glass mason jar with a lid, 1 cup of almond milk/ coconut milk/ soy milk (whichever you prefer) 3 Tbsp chia seeds, 1 tsp of natural sweeter (honey, maple syrup, agave etc..) 1 1/2 tsp vanilla mix all together... let stand for 20 mins then stir again and put in fridge overnight. In the morning you have vanilla chia seed pudding... I add fresh fruit like bananas and pomegranates, apples... you can add cinnamon to make an apple and cinnamon chia seed pudding... the possibilities are endless!

  14. Oh and P.S. I personally would never try avocado in a smoothie. Unless you want to test how well your gag reflex works but that's just my personal experience. lol

    HAHAHAHA!!!!

I've never had an avocado in a smoothie myself but i have made a salad dressing with half an avocado, blood orange and a lil bit of cayenne pepper. OMG amazing!

I love eating them in guac, raw with a lil sea salt, in a salad, mexican food, stir fry, etc... Raw is my fave way to eat it.

  16. I guess I really don't care as long as he is smart, funny, secure and really "gets me."

Thats the trick. I was lucky enough to find someone who REALLY gets me... not gets me for a while and then says "You're too f***ing crazy for me to deal with!" or "Why can't you be normal?!" He's seen my crazy and loves me still. Encourages me to be the woman I want to be and is so supportive all of the time. It doesn't matter our ages are so different we are exactly who we need in our lives (both ways) and our relationship is our business.

  18. I used to hate beets as a kid, you know those pickled canned ones. UGH! But 5 years ago I was at a potluck BBQ and someone brought fresh raw beets straight from their garden and I ate them all up and i believe even went for seconds! Now I LOVE LOVE LOVE beets. Especially raw just a lil warmed up so the juices flow nice.

I'm addicted to the food websites and cooking diaries and new recipes. Since I'm sticking with the raw diet (because it works for me... not saying it works for everyone) I'm enjoying finding new creative ways to eat food raw.

  21. My 11 year old daughter had one last week. Very rare for someone that age. As many mentioned, the most important thing is to drink lots of water to keep flushing the system. As EagleMoon mentioned, lemonade is very good due to the citric acid which prevents the stones from getting larger. Doctor also mentioned that good regular bowel movements are important as well, so keep that system flushed regularly too.

I missed the part about citric acid. I guess my morning glass of OJ also helps :)

To keep regular try this every morning:

warm water with the juice of half a lemon. Drink that before anything else in the morning and you will have easier bowel movements + it's great for your immune system. It's made a HUGE difference for me.

  22. Someone close to me recently had renal failure and kidney infection from kidney stones that he let go for too long. We got him to the hospital and they treated it with ultrasound waves to break up the large stones so they could pass easier through urination. Drink LOTS of water.

I have heard men say that Digi and knowing where these large stones have to pass through and how small that opening is I'd say it's a fair comparison.

  23. My weirdest dream ever:

I was at work (I worked at a hotel at the time) I was on lunch break with one of the girls we usually have at weekends. She's wearing my black cardigan. I turn to look at her and right in front of me she seemed to regress...

She became a spool of black thread and at the end of the spool her face had regressed into a baby face!

So there's this giant spool with a baby face floating in space!

Then she spat a soccer ball out of her mouth!

That sounds like a David Lynch script.
