  1. I figured that I would tell you guys a little story about "My Name Is Earl" and how it related to me back in January of 2006. Hey "My Name Is Earl" just ended on the boob tube! Anyway for the last couple of years my mother in law takes the whole fanm damily down to Newport Beach for a week to relax by the beach or to hit Disneyland with the kids. It just so happened that when we were down there in January of '06 Universal Studios was doing a one month promo for the TV show "My Name is Earl." If your name was Earl you would get free admisson into the park and a "My Name Is Earl" T shirt and hat. So we all went to Universal Studios for a day. I had to show them my driver's licence and I got in free. As we were leaving I picked up the shirt and hat and Sponge Bob Square Pants was following us toward the exit. I turned around and showed him the hat and shirt and told him that I was an "Earl." He looked at me and the bowed down at my feet. Pretty funny. Guess you had to be there. Not bad for a guy (meaning me) who has been picked on his whole life for such a nerdy name. That's life! Anyone for some Dungeons & Dragons? Want to play with my Star Wars figures? I have a Hot Wheels Sizzlers Fat Track set up! Want to come over and race? Want to listen to some ? I have every 8 track up to "Moving Pictures!" I have a great HO scale train set. Want watch trains all day with me? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! RUSH ON! Sincerely, Weird Earl Al PS: Some of those questions are true. Some are false.
  2. There is another band from Northen Ireland called "THE ANSWER." This band shreds too! THEY ROKK!!!! If you don't believe me check out who won Classic Rock Magazine's New Band Of The Year Award in 2005! THE ANSWER IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU!! Buy the cd and CRANK IT!!!!!!!! ROCK AND ROLL IS ALIVE AND WELL IN IRELAND!!!!! RIP PHIL LYNOTT AND RORY GALLAGHER! Would "Taste" count as an Irish Band?
  3. Hey! Gary Moore was born in North Ireland! Although he did play on Thin Lizzy's classic "Black Rose" Gary does have a solid solo career as well. Also there is a new Irish ROCK Band that kicks major guitar ASS! The band is called GLYDER. I am blasting their cd right now! Hard Rock with a little Lizzy and Gallagher all wrapped up into one killer new band! GLYDER ROXX!!!!!
  4. Excellent clip Pat! Gary Moore is AWESOME!
  5. Dude! You make great sense! Oh yeah I loved ROADSHOW! I love all of Neil's books. I love everything RUSH and I always will no matter what I ramble about! I know we don't see eye to eye on a few things but who cares! You really do remind me of me when I was your age!!! Remember I wrote this somewhere on here. I started playing drums in junior high in 1979. Then in 1981 I heard of "Moving Pictures" from a neighbor's friend. "You have to heard Tom Sawyer" it will blow your mind. So I bought it and the rest was HISTORY! I remember it like yesterday. Then of course I too way back when would start learning how to play all the RUSH stuff on the drums that I could get my hands on. Addicted. Modern Drummer is a great magazine. It's funny Puppet that I actually thought about you when reading the current edition with the great Vinnie Colaiuta on the cover. They did a review of the Decemberists "Crane Wife." Four stars I think. I know I seem to be strange but it's just the way I like to write. Hey if Rush plays up in Portland maybe I will make the trip and we can meet and intellectualize!! I can see how your mind works it's awesome! You liked VT so you went "Retrospective" to learn more. I did the same thing back then when I bought Moving Pictures. I bought every RUSH cassette from their catalog. It took me a while to digest it but man sorry "In The End" I frigging loved it all!! I actually hope you are right about no opener. Seriously though I am listening to Thin Lizzy's BLACK ROSE right now as I type. Timing is everything in life. It's cool to have a place to talk RUSH. I have been a Rushaholic for 26 years. Keep on playing those damn drums. Hell I never made it but I have my kit in the garage. Playing drums never gets old, just the body and the skin!! RUSH ON DUDE!
  6. QUOTE (PuppetKing2112 @ Jan 31 2007, 03:31 PM) QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ Jan 31 2007, 03:14 PM) I bet your old man has heard of him! I doubt it...the old rock he's into is more from the 60s...Beatles, Stones, Hendrix, etc. He had sort of stopped following music by the late 70s. He didn't even know who Rush were until I started listening to them. Still, though, NO opening acts on this Rush tour. Oh well, your dad still has excellent taste in music. Jimi Hendrix RULES. How did you discover RUSH if you don't mind drifting off topic for a sec. We can keep it On Topic Safe so the Admins Of Syrinx don't get angry. I find in very cool and interesting to understand how the younger Generation falls in love with Rush. I have converted a few young lads myself into RUSH FANATICS! They are in their late twenties by now though. You can pm me on how you fell in love with RUSH if you want instead. I seriously care believe it or not. Sorry, but I have a very strong gut feeling that Rush is going to have an opener this year. Frankly I don't blame them. Old School Touring in Effect! RULES NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO! Earl
  7. This is one of the easiest poll questions ever! THIN LIZZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rory Gallagher is second!!!
  8. Dude! He is an old guy now but he sure as hell can play the blues. Not "put you to sleep" blues. He can still tear it up!! I just bought Gary's "Old New Ballads Blues" and I thought it was going to bore me to tears. Quite the opposite though! Cheers to the Electric Blues! Maybe Gary Moore can come out on stage with Rush and play "Ghost Of A Chance" with Alex! That would be sweet! Go check him out Puppet! Go to his website and learn about the man! I bet your old man has heard of him! Earl
  9. QUOTE (PuppetKing2112 @ Jan 30 2007, 01:55 PM) Who is this Gary Moore? Gary Moore is a killer guitarist, born in Northern Ireland. Sure he is an old dude now but back in the day he could shred with the best of them. I am sure you have heard of THIN LIZZY, one of the greatest bands on the planet. Well they were, but heck I love John Sykes too and he has kept Thin Lizzy together way after Phil Lynott's passing. I know you are a U2 guy but I will take Thin Lizzy and Rory Gallagher anyday as the best to come out of Ireland! I am sure you won't listen to me but go get Thin Lizzy's "BLACK ROSE." Not only does Gary kick ass on the guitar, the record is a CLASSIC! Cheers! Earl
  10. QUOTE (treeduck @ Jan 29 2007, 11:04 PM) QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ Jan 30 2007, 01:50 AM) The Steve Morse Band opened for RUSH on the Power Windows Tour. All my friends wanted to stay out in the parking lot and finish off the pony keg of beer in back my buddy's CR-X. So I missed Steve. I was pissed. Doesn't that me getting drunk in Europe? I'd have RUSHed in and watched Steve myself mate regardless... I know Pat. Shoot man, I was a junior in high school working for Safeway. All of my friends were 21 years old or older. Nothing like a minor drinking beer in a parking lot before a Rush Concert. Yeah I chose to stay and drink rather than think and go in alone and watch Steve Morse jam with Rod on the drums. I have seen him a lot though since then. Dixie Dregs are great too, so it's all good! Speaking about drinking beer before a Rush Concert, I guess some things never change.

  12. Hey Kudzu! Timing is everything. I am on disc two of "Marbles" right now. I love it!! Can't wait for the new one! Earl
  13. QUOTE (pedro2112 @ Jan 29 2007, 06:21 PM) Rushhead's "buddy" just got out of at time Machine. I saw Gary Moore open for Rush back in the 80s. Good one! Yeah I find it hard to believe too. He heard it on some radio station on around Sacramento. Not sure if it was on the Eagle or not. 96.9. I have seen RUSH many times up there and the Eagle is always in a booth outside in front of the shows. Who knows! I want an "Evening With Rush" too. I missed Gary Moore opening for RUSH. Guess I better start working on the blueprints to my Rock N Rush Time Machine! Cheers!
  14. I just got off the phone with a buddy of mine who told me that he heard on the radio that Rush and Gary Moore are going to be on Tour together this summer! Has anyone else heard this??? I went to the Gary Moore Website and there was nothing there about summer tour dates. Just March and May dates in the U.K. RUSH ON!
  15. Cool! It's the Nature of the Beast dude!!! It's me! I love to "Ramble On!" Sincerely, Robert Plant Beasties Rool "Cooky Puss!"
  16. QUOTE (PuppetKing2112 @ Jan 28 2007, 12:17 PM) Okay, what the hell is this thread about exactly? I want to think it's something about old school hip-hop, but RUSHHEAD's post was completely incomprehensible. No explaination needed. It's pretty cut and dry to me. I must live on another planet. Sorry I don't write in practical straight forward terms. Even though we type inside a box I try to think outside the box even at 2 AM in the morning. Next time I will "Cut To The Chase." I won't write rubbish in rhyme formation. I won't talk about "Niggaz With Attitudes." I will just write boring and bland theads about Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Yes, Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater, Kansas, Genesis, ELP, Marillion, Camel, Asia, and Styx. My original title was deleted so it looks like a PROG Thread. That was not the point obviously.
  17. QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Jan 28 2007, 07:59 AM) RUSHHEAD, I edited your thread title. Obviously you didn't use that variation of the N word in an offensive way, but it's not a word we encourage around here, even if it's a rap group's name (NWA). If you think of something else you'd like in the title, PM me and I'll put it in. No problem! For a second I thought you guys removed the whole thing! I had a feeling it was a risky title. Nonetheless N.W.A. kicked ass back in the early Ninties. This post has been brought to you by Eazy Earl. "I'M STRAIGHT OUTTA CONCORD!" N.W.A.? I'm a N. erd W. ith A. ttitude!
  18. I am here to offend as a drink a beer and cannot pretend. I love PROG. I can go head to toe with any of you on which group is great or which group is poop. You decide the homicide. As OZZY would say the solution is suicide. Do you vomit your intellect or do you swallow your pride? I will be the first to tell you that I hate modern HIP HOP and RAP BUT! The old school shit RULES! From Sugar Hill Gang to Grandmaster Flash, to Whodini, L.L. COOL J. RUN DMC and the BEASTIE BOYS! "I'm the leader of the show, keeping you on the go and I know I can't live without my RADIO!" Then came N.W.A. and Easy MuthaFokken E. Eric Wright. RIP Way too many women and drugs. Way too many guns and stoopid ass thugs. Has nine children with nine different women. Died of AIDS and received no praise. Anyway I love "STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON" "NIGGAZ 4 LIFE" and of course that one solo album by Eazy E, "Eazy Duz It." Come on man ICE CUBE is the shit. Made millions. Good for him. Solid actor too. I love "Boyz In The Hood." A Cultrue Classic. Caved In Cop Cars! I am sure you Rush Maniacs can relate to that rhyme. Alliteration I mean. Station To Station. That's David Bowie! Whoops! I am sure you can relate to the scene. All of that 50 Cent is bent out of shape. I hate the new school but love Whodini "Escape." Country + Rap may = CRAP But when it comes to N.W.A. It's worth the tap. Hell even Rush tried to rap on ROLL THE BONES. You can have your commercial track back while the fact remains that it's the same old game of snake eye loans. Go ahead. Make fun. Rush can't write a rap either. But they make a ton. Eazy Earl
  19. QUOTE (Snowman @ Jan 19 2007, 12:13 AM) QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ Jan 18 2007, 09:37 PM) KUDZU! Great poll! Marillion is like my third favorite band on the planet. I had to go with "Clutching At Straws." "That Time Of The Night!" I love the FISH years but I love the Hogarth years as well. My buddy's band opened for Marillion once. Ever here of the prog band ENCHANT? Anyway I got to meet Steve Rothery. One of the most underrated guitar players on the planet. Vey nice guy too. I also got to hang out with FISH after one of his solo tours. The big funny drunk is a hoot. That's why Derek has that nickname. Becauase "He drinks like a FISH!" "Misplaced Childhood" is great too. Well shoot man, just see my "perfect album" list. "Fugazi" is the only one that lacks something. Not enough "punch, punch" I guess for Judy. I have said it on here before and I will say it again! MARILLION RULES!!!!! Ian Mosley is an underrated drummer too. FISH ON! Earl Hey, you know the dudes in Enchant! I have their 4 last CD's! It's almost 4 years since their last album, what are they up to nowadays? Hey Snowman! Yeah funny thing back in the day, I think it was for the "Presto" Tour I spent the night in line in front of Tower Records. In front of me was Doug and Paul from Enchant. Well we totally bonded over night and became friends. Even though Paul left Doug still kept things going by bringing in a new drummer. I don't know if you have that Enchant live dvd but Wendy and I were there! It was shot in on the Oakland/Berkeley border. Right on Snowman! Glad someone on here has heard of them! Excellent Bay Area Prog! Of course as you know the a lot bigger overseas. They even opened up for Dream Theater! I wish Paul had stayed in the band. Anyway Doug and the boys are writing a new record right now. It seems like it's taking forever!! Let's hope they get it done! PROG ON SNOWMAN! Earl
  20. Oh yeah and everytime I see this cosmo icon I think of the "Sugar Mice" 12 inch vinyl cover! Cheers!

  22. MOTS??? Music Of The Scrubs? It doesn't surprise me that you don't care for Wolfmother. A three piece that rocks. Hmmmmmmmmmmm. I bet you woul hate new hard rock bands like: BLACK STONE CHERRY and THE ANSWER Guitar Rock is not dead. Seems like my Video Vertigo has gone Audio Rodeo.
  23. Thanks Hunter!! I was just being my ranting self about nothing!! CHEERS! Earl
  24. Hey I never watch TV but the wife does and she loves the show "SCRUBS" so before I put in a dvd she had to watch the last 4 minutes of the episode. Well, I was actually shocked. My dreary ears perked up because I couldn't believe what I was hearing as the credits came on tonight's show. They were playing The Decemberists!! I can't remember the song title but I love the song. Sure it's off of THE CRANE WIFE. A masterpiece. I must ramble too much on this site. Maybe I am on everyone's IGNORE LIST. Is there an IGNORE LIST on this Forum? I only belong to one other Forum in Cyberspace. Y&T baby. Yeah, that's YESTERDAY & TODAY. Dave Meniketti is a great guitar player! Who? RUSHHEAD LOVES Y&T. Peanut Butter and Gasoliine man. Off Topic!! "The Crane Wife" was almost my 2006 Album of the Year PuppetKing. Gave it to WOLFMOTHER instead! Mother? Wife? I guess there is a connection here. Strange eh? Not bad for a dude who hates Green Day. Cheers! Earl
