If Neil wants to write, he should put out a book of his lyrics and what they mean to him. I bet it would sell.
Definitely!

Maybe. Until you consider "indifferent circles we keep holding our ground..." makes no sense whatsoever.."In different circles we keep holding our ground"
Notice how in the written lyrics the second time this is sung in each chorus, it is spelled indifferent circles. So Neil is giving that line more than one meaning.
Brilliant!
Well, possibly Neil is saying that "indifferent circles we keep holding our ground," that war makes no sense whatsoever! :D

I listened to it last week for the first time in months. I was reminded of just how great it is.

I am surprised Rush did not buy it and renovate it. They made so much history there. Other bands have recorded there, but Le Studio has always seemed like Rush's recording home.

Absolutely!
I don't always like it when bands do unplugged versions of songs and change them a lot.
Here are a few that I think would be great unplugged played only by Rush:
Rivendell
Lessons
Closer To The Heart
Cinderella Man
The Trees
Different Strings
Losing It
Emotion Detector
Presto
Resist
Roll Away The Stone
Nobody's Hero
Between Sun And Moon
Everyday Glory
How It Is
Far Cry
The Larger Bowl
The Way The Wind Blows
We Hold On
Halo Effect
The Wreckers
The Garden

The Wal basses definitely have a character of their own. The great Percy Jones of Brand X was the guy to help make them popular through his recordings and tours with them; along with his endorsement of them. Geddy is a huge Percy Jones fan.

So I was reading some stuff over on a bass related website and the discussion of Geddy using his famous 72 Jazz bass on the Moving Pictures tour came up. I originally thought he didn't play the jazz bass as is the case in the Exit Stage Left dvd. A quick google image search shows that he did indeed use the bass in at least a few of the shows on that tour. Anyways, my question is does anybody know what song(s) he used the jazz bass on? Thanks.
I saw the Moving Pictures Tour in 1981 and Alex definitely played the Howard Roberts on The Camera Eye. I believe Geddy also played the Fender Jazz Bass on The Camera Eye, Tom Sawyer, Red Barchetta, YYZ and Vital Signs. I think those were the only songs he played the Fender Jazz Bass on.
Hope this helps.

A next to impossible poll! To me, every song on the album is great and every song on the album is important; as I do consider it a concept album.
My top 3 were:
The Anarchist
Carnies
Seven Cities Of Gold
My filler track (because I had to vote for one):
BU2B2

No - it was released on Jan 1, 1980, and I'm a stickler for details.
I always think of 1980 when I hear this album. Especially the Permanent Waves section of Natural Science. In fact, almost whenever I hear or think of 1980, that part goes through my mind.

Studio no doubt.

Clockwork Angels. Definitely!

One of Alex's greatest solos! Ever!

Pretty sure. In any case, what you are saying is also another meaning of what Neil is saying too. As often, Neil's lyrics can be interpreted many ways or mean different things. One of the greatest things about Neil's lyrics is that they get the listener and reader thinking (presuming they are listening and/or reading!) and can mean different things to different people. And most of his lyrics are indeed very thought provoking. And educational. I cannot think of any lyricist who has taught me so much about so many things more than Neil.
