    QUOTE (vitalsigns318 @ May 20 2012, 07:52 AM)
Since we have been together, we have seen three Rush concerts and will see our fourth in September in Pittsburgh.

Cool, my boyfriend and I will be at that show! Where are you sitting? I'm in the third row, but I also have lower bowl right by the stage seats on Geddy's side that I need to find homes for. Trouble is, I probably won't get the tix until right before the show. sad.gif

I bought the VIP packages, so I am not sure where our seats will be. They should be close up as I bought the packages as soon as they went on sale. We will be easy to recognize because we are bringing our dragon, Nebby, that we created. He is based on the Rush r30 party t-shirt and writes reviews of the shows.

  2. I bought books back in the eighties that contained some innaccuracies, but I found listening to the songs helped me correct the bad notes. If you are buying an official Rush product, it most likely will be correct.

Sometimes you just have to compare the books, the songs, and what other users post on the internet, after some trial and error you should be able to play the songs accurately.

  3. QUOTE (An Enemy Without @ May 16 2012, 09:02 AM)
I've tried, and it's reeeeally hard. I mean I know he uses his fingers and stuff but what about his toes? Do you think he's ever tried that? Also whats up with all the hipsters I'm seeing? Is Neil a hipster?

Where are all the hat factories? Especially the ones that make Neil's african beanie or whatever that thing is?

Anybody can learn to play Rush tunes. It just takes years of practice. I got to play 15 of them at the acoustic singalong at Rushcon III. It was the most fun I've ever had playing music.

  4. My fiance and I met at an open stage and he was enamored by my original music. I could never have written that kind of music without Rush being an influence. Since we have been together, we have seen three Rush concerts and will see our fourth in September in Pittsburgh. It was their music that inspired me and indirectly brought us together.

"There might be a ghost of a chance you can find someone to love...and make it last"

  5. It's amazing being up front. I was front row for Snakes and Arrows in Pittsburgh, right in front of Alex. Amazingly I bought those tickets the first day of public sale from a ticketmaster outlet. Imagine doing that now!

It's just you and the band and you catch the facial expressions, the interaction between the band members, and the interaction that they have with you personally. You get an appreciation for them as people as well as the artists that have rocked our world for almost 40 years!

Have an amazing time at the show!

Now that is just fine!!!! My fiance said that I agreed to marry him because he looks alot like Geddy and he can sing. Now I just have to get him to take up bass!

  7. Alex is so cute! He has always been a stylish dresser and he is so flirtatious with the audience. His personality has always been what makes him so attractive. He is also a very nice man.

You know you're a Rush fan when...

    1. You've been stared at in stores for singing Rush songs too loud.

    2. You're friends come over, you insist on playing Rush the whole time whether they like it or not.

    3. You've actually gone on a Witch Hunt

    4. You have memorized The Boys In Brazil documentary word by word.

    5. You can answer any question you're asked with a Rush lyric/quote.

    6. You have your very own Rush theme song.

    7. You've given people you know their own Rush theme songs.

    8. You accidently call someone Geddy, Alex, or Neil.

    9.

    I just did this yesterday:

It's raining/thundering/lightning and when lightning strikes you yell, "DID YOU SEE THAT 'CHAIN LIGHTNING?!'

    5. You can answer any question you're asked with a Rush lyric/quote. There is so much philosophy in Rush, how can you not!

You know you're a Rush fan when...

You create a dragon based on the 30th Anniversary t-shirt and take him to open stages

  9. QUOTE (Good @ bad,andrush,Dec 19 2010, 02:15 PM)
When our weary world was young

That was very creative. Thank you for the journey, I have been listening to these guys ever since I was a four year old kid and 1978, so these albums and images have made a strong impression on my imagination. I'm so glad that these guys have been a steady rock throughout my lifetime. Thirty three years later, they are still here and it very comforting and inspiring that they are still creating music.

I once met Alex and Geddy on Vapor Trails, and Alex got so excited when I told them "You have given me a lifetime of inspiration." He was so ecstatic, that he laughed out loud and blurted out thank you to the entire room. Rush has a symbiotic relationship with their fans and it is our exchange of energy(when they play live and through the albums) that has made that relationship survive and thrive!

  10. QUOTE (Ted Barchetta @ Nov 16 2010, 05:29 PM)
I like to write music as a sub-hobby to playing it. I like to see what I am capable of when experimenting with odd time signatures or odd rhythms. I think it really brings out my creative side; kinda like how I feel about writing short stories or analytical essays.

Sometimes (Especially when I don't have writer's block) I like composing music better than playing it. Is anyone else like that?

I love to write songs. I am often amazed at how a riff or poem that I write can develop into an awesome tune. My fiance and songwriting partner, David, helps bring out the full spectrum of what an initial spark can create, what I often don't think is significant can become a full blown song.

I have learned more about music by writing songs rather than just playing what someone else has written. It takes a lot of creative effort to bring a song to full maturity. It also gives me insight as to the creative process of my favorite artists.
